Since Ahri is being brought back into "mage" status, can we do the same thing to Zyra?

Riot is apparently shifting the "Assassin" Ahri and bringing her back to her intended role as a proper Mage. I, for one, am okay with this, I did like Ahri more when I was playing her more Mage-y.

My issue now is Zyra, can Riot please do something about her? She was supposed to be the first Mage who uses plants, and yes she is still technically a "mage", but she is mostly used as a support now.

What do you guys think?

She applies Liandry's Torment's passive too effectively on multiple targets making her able to play support because she can still be an APC with just two items, the Void Staff + Liandry's Torment. So I really doubt this'll ever happen.

If you don't want her to support, you would have to remove her CC altogether, which is something I don't think anyone wants.

Ahri's not being brought to "mage" status. That's just the current untruth Riot is propagandizing to us to intentionally nerf her, because she doesn't auto-lose to Zed.

The people who think it's impossible to buff mid Zyra without buffing supp Zyra have a serious lack of imagination. It's literally as easy as nerfing her base damages and increasing her scaling so she does worse with a small budget (i.e. a support one) and better with a big budget (i.e. a mid one). Done.

Have you actually tried taking her mid? Sure she might have a rough time vs. assassins, but her late game damage output with plants is insane, and as for her CC... well there's a reason people take her botlane.

Just because most people play her support doesn't mean she's complete trash mid.

Well,I'm probably gonna get downvoted to hell for this,but:

A champion should be balanced around the playerbase,and I'm guessing more of her playerbase right now is as a support,also it's easier to balance her around that,so that is also a thing,also riot doesn't care much for immobile mages in general(Can we turn lux into an actual VIABLE mid laner?) so uh...

Tell you what,turn syndra into a support,then zyra can go mid.(Kappa)

A champion can be both a mage and a support. Typically, supports aid their allies in some way. Mages typically require on ability combos to work. Zyra can fulfil both of these criteria.

If they were to rework Zyra, I would like stronger plants and weaker everything else. Plant's are awesome.

Zyra is not a support. She is, however, an extreamly powerful Disruptor Mage. Her Q discourages people from grouping up and her E discourages people from standing close from her or trying to run away in a straight line. Her W amplifies both of these effects and good seed placement with her R makes her into a team slaying monster. [As a bonus, her W provides vision when stepped on!]

You will never be able to remove her from bottom as there will always be a want for powerful Disruptor champions due to to fragile nature of marksmen and the gank heavy nature of bottom lane. (Ex. People such as Leona and Thresh.)

Also, Ahri has and always will be an Assassin Mage like LB. In fact, the new changes make her MORE of an assassin by greatly increasing her non-ult based mobility.

problem is all zyra's skills are skillshots, and she is an relatively immobile mage, with the mobility creep in league you see increasingly more skillshot, immobile mages being relegated to a support role(vel'koz, lux, zyra). And even champions like xerath, when first picked, usually run into problems, as seen in the SKT vs Najin match where faker got absolutely dominated on xerath by a zed.

And i heavily disagree with riot's decision on making ahri a mage. Her entire kit screams assassin, if riot wants to make a dps mage, look in cassioepia's direction.

Zyra mid main here. I don't think they can really do anything without completely reworking her. Add anything to her and she'll just be that much better at support. I think just a bit more movespeed would be a push in the right direction though.

Though it does make me irrationally upset to see her with a Sightstone on her recommended items. Wish more people would play her mid. I REALLY do think that a bit of a movspeed buff like 5 or even 10 would help a lot.

The last time i heard about Zyra being a mage, people described her as a nightmare. But i still voted yes, because the mid lane desperately needs diversity. I'm getting really tired of the . . . 4? possibly 5 mid laners who rely on mana, all of the energy users are either banned 99% of the time or instapicked freelo. Anybody tell me what Mage Zyra would look like?
