I REALLY dislike the designs of supports today

Todays supports are so linear they can't do anything but support. They rely so much on an adc they can't go anywhere else. Jungle champions can go top and vice-versa. Mid mage champions can go support. But why does Riot force support champions in one role? That's so boring. Yes I know. They have very toxic kits for a solo laner like old Soraka, Janna and Lulu who all rekt their lane until they got nerfed to oblivion and can't even really go mid anymore. But Riot should be clever enough to add a non toxic mechanic to their kit instead of completely nuking their kit (cough cough cough cough) Also Riot completely forgot about abilities that can be casted on allies or enemies. The only support that still has this is Lulu, and in my opinion it's just disappointing.

- She can't even trigger her own passive by herself and her damage was unnecessarily butchered a couple patches ago so we can't really do anything with her. But she is definitely one of the more independent supports.

- Janna did have some obvious problems in her kit, but literally the only problems in her kit was (ignoring her stupid utility) her ability to clear waves easily from a safe distance and a massive AP ratio on her shield. There's a simple way to fix her tornado from being the most toxic thing in the game instead of completely fucking up its damage, making it only stay alive if Janna is within 1000 range of it. This wouldn't really be a nerf because only braindead people get hit by a tornado from far away that moves like 5 miles an hour. And for some reason Riot decided to make Janna passive not affect herself anymore and nerfing her Zephyr damage scaling??? I mean if you decide to make the cooldown stay 12 seconds later then at least increase the damage on Zephyr. But she still is kinda sorta independent.

- Only until recently did Riot decide to implement this mechanic. Making her Glitterlane do 70% damage beyond the first target hit. This should have been added ages ago instead of completely nerfing all her damage. For some reason they didn't give her damage buffs in that patch (aside from her passive) considering she has had a winrate below 50% for a very long time now.

- This is my main evidence why Riot doesn't want supports going mid. She can't even heal herself now directly. They gave her shit damage and a passive she can't use on herself, however she can use it to flee from dangerous situations. Soraka mid can work, but you just end up being a big support late game, more than Lulu.

My conclusion is that Riot is trying too hard to force supports into the support role. They force them so hard into it that they end up being very linear and you have no other way to play them. Old Soraka, Lulu and Janna had very independent kits, but were changed to make them so reliant on an adc they are useless in other roles (maybe Lulu exception but she doesn't have the best winrate atm)
