Gage: Captain of the Iron Lancers

Attack: 7/10 Defense: 6/10 Ability power: 2/10 Difficulty: 6/10

Splash: Since I suck at drawing picture a dark haired somewhat short man with hair down to about his chin, and a scraggly beard. He has a lance similar to those in medieval times, with a Demacian crest on his horse’s armor, and the insignia of his house on a flag on his lance. His horse is a white stallion with bronze armor, he himself has bright red and bronze armor.

Possible skins: Dreadknight Gage, Gage Revere (like Paul Revere), Medieval Gage

Abilities (Since I didn’t want to get too into balance issues with damage and cooldowns and stuff like that, I only put the basic versions of the abilities. If you’d like more info on what he is supposed to be see the extra info section below this or post a comment.)

Passive: Glory or Death: Gives Gage additional lifesteal for 10 seconds when at low health, and after reaching a low point in health, Gage gains a special attack that will stun its target. There is a cooldown of 30 seconds on the stun and lifesteal effects.

Q: Enchanted Horseshoes: The ground under Gage's horse begins to burn, creating a hot trail behind and under Gage. Enemies stuck in the trail take damage over time and are slowed. Passively Gage is granted additional base movement speed and bonus movement speed out of combat.

W: Joust: Gage thrusts his lance forward, damaging and knocking back all enemies hit. He can only activate this ability in front of him.

E: Trample: Gage rally's his horse to charge forward to chosen target, dealing damage to all enemies in his path. This ability does more damage based upon the amount of health Gage has. Passively Gage can walk through units.

R: Lead the Charge: Gage grants a small amount of movement speed to one targeted ally, and Gage gains a large burst in movement and attack speed. Gage's attacks during the duration of the buff will slow targets. Passively Gage is granted price reductions on wards and sightstones, and can place 4 wards at once. He also is granted increased vision range and can see over walls.

Lore: Born into the most powerful family in Demacia, Gage Lightshield was destined for greatness. Tied into the royal line and heir of the largest fortune in Valoran he could have had anything he wanted. But Gage wanted something that money couldn’t buy; the glory of victorious battle, and the thrill of death’s grasp nearing Gage’s soul. At age 15 he enrolled in the army, and showing promise was placed in the cavalry division soon after. It was one day on a scouting mission that Gage gained his fame. His squadron was tasked with finding the location of the noxian army led by General Darius. When they found them, Darius was camped further behind enemy lines meeting with his other officers. Attempting to seize the opportunity to capture a valuable enemy general, Gage rallied his men to a charge, catching Darius and his men by surprise. Despite the rebukes from Gage’s commanding officer, he and his men charged into the enemy camp. Fiercely his men fought, but Darius was too strong for them, and enemy troops were coming to reinforce him. Gage took on Darius in a desperate attempt to validate the attack. He was no match for Darius, and had it not been for the intervention of the rest of the cavalry regiment, Gage would have perished under his cleaver.
To this day Gage looks at this moment of ignorance as his greatest failure. With his valiant steed, his impervious lance, and the souls of the men he failed, he leads every charge in a noble attempt to avenge the men he should have died with. As much as the fear that is evinced on the faces of all of the enemies who hear Gage’s battle cry, so is the burning quest for redemption within Gage’s soul. Should Gage ever face Darius again, you can be sure the years of self discipline and experience will create a much greater battle, but this time...only one will survive.

“No man has ever been more dedicated, nor more valiant than that of my cousin Gage, I am truly grateful to call him my ally.”

-Jarvan IV

Extra Info and Tips: Gage is a jungler, who excels at early ganks and map pressure early, and scales into a vision controler, scout, and initiator later in the game. He has low scalings but high base damages, meaning he is a strong tank. His passive also allows him to extend team fights and turn fights around. While he has strong abilities early, he is blue buff dependant with high cooldowns and mana costs.

Tips as Gage:
Activate your Q before you E or R as it is based on time not distance, meaning you can apply more burn and slow to more people. R is strong early game in ganks to help your teammates capitalize on your engagements, and is also strong late game as it can both be used to help an ally engage with you, or give boosts to an adc or carry and protect them from harm.
Keep track of when the stun on your passive is up, as it can cause you to win fights you wouldn’t have normally won. Though Gage does have good CC, a gank with red buff can be almost impossible to escape when done properly. Tips against Gage: Avoid Gage when his Q is activated, it has a relatively long cooldown and the slow and burn can be very oppressive. Avoid grouping up around Gage, as his E can have a larger impact and his lance knocks back ALL enemies hit, meaning some very crucial engages can occur. Late game Gage will not be easier to 1v1, but still beware his passive as it grants him high amounts of lifesteal and the stun can be brutal. If you are laning against Gage, try not to give him the buffs he gains when he is at low health, if possible try and burst him down rather than poking him.

Trivia:
His name is based on the famous general of the 17th Lancers, General Thomas Gage. The 17th lancers were also known as the Glory or Death boys and were famous for their Charge of the Light Brigade. This is where the connection to his passive and to his family (The Lightshields) comes from. Gage is actually Jarvan’s cousin; they both like lances but have different styles for them. Gage used to believe that he deserved to be king rather than Jarvan IV, but he now believes his place is solely on the battlefield. He painted his armor red to serve as a constant reminder of the cost of his mistakes. It also makes him a pretty visible leader.

Any questions? Please ask them and like this discussion, it is very appreciated! Also I'd like this to be a submission to the CCC, but I'm not sure what is happening with that this month.
