[Champion Concept] Vulrog, the Lone Horseman
Health: 570-2300 Health Regen: 6-21 Resource: Fury Armor: 26-91 Magic Resist: 32.1-53.4 Attack Damage: 60-115 Attack Speed: 0.64-0.98 Melee: 150 Movement Speed: 355 Primary Role: Fighter Secondary Role: Tank
Fury: Every basic attack he gains 3 fury. For every second he gains 0.5 fury. Abilities that hit the enemy gain him 5 fury. Being attacked by the enemy with basic attacks give him 3 fury and abilities by enemies that hit him give him 5 fury.
Background: They came fast and in the night. The fire rained down from the skies before the riders could get to their mounts. However, it wasn't an easily won battle for the attackers. To the mounts they rode and they rode hard. They fought fiercely and with passion. Sweeping the field of battle and destroying the ranks of the Noxian soldiers who had preemptively struck. It was a losing battle, but they would give them hell. From all around the Tempest Flats rode the riders. They came to the aid of their brothers and they came fast. Hitting hard. The Noxians dug in. They would not give.
The frightened child rode hard with his mother south. Through harsh lands and terrain. He still saw the fires to this day. Haunting his dreams. He still remembered the day the giant called Sion came onto the field. Darius and the one known as Draven with that smile of his. He remembered his fear as well as his burning hatred. The yordle city was where they fled. Him and a handful of survivors. From there they took boats to a safe haven. Ionia. There, they took refuge, but even there the Noxians found them. Upon the invasion of Ionia their clan was found, and only with the sacrifice of his mother did he survive. He will never forget the assassin Talon, nor will he forgive. He was taken to the Ionian hills where he lived with nomads and perfected the art of his own people. From a baby he had learned to ride, and continued to learn.
The Noxians had assaulted in the night and took their entire forces to annihilate his people who were going to side with the Demacians in the conflict. The Orc Horseman. Fabled throughout the land as the best cavalry and indeed they were. Even under threat and a surprise attack they took scores of the Noxian forces and made them fight weeks before finally the last vestiges were taken out. He wore that pride now as he strode down from the hills and to the capital of Ionia. There he pledged his life to the service of Ionia. Those who came to his peoples aid. He would never forget that kindess. He was the last of the Horseman of his tribe. He would wear his peoples pride as he rode to fight for Ionia, and any Noxian stupid enough to get in his way would pay and be run over by his steed, Lok'Tar's feet.
With Lok'Tar at his side and his spear in his hand he was a force to be reckoned with. On the battlefield he was swift, strong, and courageous. On many occassion he was marveled at for his horsemanship and the skills he wielded. In his heart was his people. In his mind was his dreams. He would fulfill both and make his people proud.
"Honor thyself and thy heritage," - Vulrog, the Lone Horseman
Image used is not my own and was found on google as all my other images. The rights for the image go to the person who drew it. I thank google and them for being so awesome. I only wish I had half the talent artists have. ^_^
Appearance: http://img11.deviantart.net/c637/i/2012/183/d/4/orc_rider_by_thebastardson-d55pfn1.jpg I couldn't of asked for a better picture.
Height: 7' 0" Lok'Tar is a very large horse btw to be able to carry him. Weight: 250-300lbs of pure muscle. Age: About 25-27 years of age.
Weapon: Lok'Tar and his spear.
Passive: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/8/icons_7483_btn.jpg Fabled Horseman- Vulrog's prowess with horsemanship shows. When moving he gains increased movement speed over a period of 5s. At the max speed he lifts his spear. While riding like this he tramples over minions dealing damage every pass over through them. Upon running into an enemy champion he knocks them back and deals damage. This effectively stops his movement speed bonus.
Movement Speed increase: 10% every second up to 50% Minion Damage: 30/50/70/100 Champion Damage: 50/80/110/140 (+30% AD) Knock Back: 300 unit knock back.
Note: Casting an ability in this mode shall end this mode upon activation of the ability. Once in this mode stopping will automatically cancel all speed bonus acquired and halt you on the spot. This is shown by Lok'Tar neighing and digging his hooves into the ground.
Q http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/13/icons_12580_btn.jpg Power Charge: Forgoing the build up needed for his passive he charges a short distance with spear held up and at max speed. Trampling minions and smashing into the first enemy champion knocking them back. After the charge he gains increased attack speed and damage for 3s.
This ability can be steered after it is activated. Lok'Tar will follow the cursor, but not easily. This is much like Sion's charge and Rammus's roll. While it is hard to control the movement it is better than both of their movement controls during their abilities.
Cooldown: 20/17/15/13/10s Range: 500 units. Knock Back: 300 units. Damage: 50/80/110/140/170 (+70% AD) Attack Speed: 10/15/20/25/30% Extra damage: 10/20/30/40/50 true damage.
Note: The icon is the closest thing I could get to since the other icon for this would be the one for the passive. Instead, since I couldn't find one similar for the W but different in color I chose this. Imagine that the spearhead is the spear and the spear is being held by a charging calvalry man. That's the icon I wanted, but this was the closest I could get.
W http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/7/icons_6731_btn.jpg Swift Burst: Lok'Tar rears back neighing and a burst of wind is created around him as they dash forward a short distance with spear held up knocking aside enemy champions and minions alike. Damaging them and stunning them for a short time. Upon activation he becomes immune to all CC and slows for 1s. Any CC or slows active on him are removed upon activation. This can be used while stunned or silenced, thus removing the stun or any other CC effect.
Knockbacks or grabs Lok'Tar breaks free of upon activation of this ability thus rendering the duration or distance shorter or none. The burst of wind blocks projectiles, but only upon activation of the ability, not during it. Displacement such as Cho'Gath's stomp or any other knock up will shorten air time and remove any slow that would be placed on him. These effects only happen upon activation of the ability.
Cooldown: 20/17/15/13/10s Range: 350 units. Knock Back/aside: 300 units. Stun Duration: 0.5s. Damage: 30/50/70/90/110 (+70% AD)
Note: Due to the site I get my icons from not having the right icon I needed I found the closest one to what I had in mind. The color scheme is slightly different, but imagine the color more as wind and the icon being much like what I explained of his Q. A horseman wielding a spear but instead of charging his horse is rearing back. Much like how the skill is before they charge.
E http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/10/icons_9735_btn.jpg Scatter: Lok'Tar hunches over and leaps into the fray causing a shockwave from the impact point and scattering enemy minions and champions alike. Damaging them and slowing their movements. Upon landing he gains increased defenses for 5s.
This ability can be cast while moving and will easily transition from moving/running into the leap. This allows for a bit of positioning and uniqueness to him as it gives him more of an actual mobile horseman feel.
Cooldown: 23/20/17/15/13s Range: 700 unit cast radius around him. Impact zone is 300 units. Shockwave range is 150 from the edge of the impact for a total of 450 unit radius. Knockback/Scatter: 300 units. Slow and Slow Duration: 10/15/20/25/30% for 3s Damage at impact: 70/100/130/160/190 (+80% AD) Damage of those in Shockwave area: 50/70/90/110/140 (+50% AD) Increased Armor and Magic Resist: 10/20/30/40/50
Note: Again, forgive the icon. It is the closest thing I could get to showing what it does. Pretty much slamming the ground with force. Imagine that the hoof there is a horse hoof, or better yet that it is a horse and rider with a spear slamming down. I couldn't find an icon close and this was the best I got. Sorry D:
Note 2: How this ability looks, in case it might be confusing to some people, is that when I say he hunces over I mean he gets into a pose that horse do when they are about to jump. Hope that makes it a bit more clearer.
R http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/12/icons_11006_btn.jpg Lone Horseman's Charge: He summons the pride of his people and charges into battle. As he charges four ghost/wraith like images of his people appear beside him as he charges, two on each side. They shall charge into battle with him. They shall never abandon their people to a lone charge. While charging he is immune to all CC effects, slows, etc. During this charge he tramples over minions and champions alike. Scattering them to the side as he passes over him. This charge is done at the same speed that Ezreal's ultimate moves at.
This ability is maneuverable once it starts. The ghost/wraith like horsemen will go through obstacles, but Lok'Tar and Vulrog will not.
Cost: 100 Fury. Cooldown: 100/90/80s Range: 700 units. Wedge formation. Slightly bigger width than Ezreal's ult. Knockback: 300 units to the side. Damage: 200/275/350 (+100% AD)
Note: Apologies for the icon being semi true to the ability. In the icon there are wolves/not horses. Imagine that they are horses and there are riders on them. That'd be great XD I couldn't find an icon with a bunch of horsemen. This was the best I could do. :P
Playing as Vulrog: Vulrog is an AD based Fighter/Tank who specializes in scattering and taking down the enemy by separating them from their allies. He works well with other champions who have AoE stun and contol abilities such as Amumu who can ult a group of enemies and then Vulrog can easily come in with his ult or abilities and hit them all, scattering them or killing them. This allows allies who specialize in single targets to come in and finish them off or attack now that they are separated from their allies. He works best in top lane due to the range of bottom lane champions. His abilities are all very short to medium range. While it is possible to play bottom lane he is better sticking to top lane. He is also a decent pic for mid, but the strong damage of the mages and their range can hurt him. While he has counters to CC the mages in mid can still use that to bait the use of those counters, thus leading him to fall prey to traps or lack of abilities to use.
Countering Vulrog is much like I would say countering Rammus. I would say the counters of Rammus work extremely well against Vulrog. Certain counters (Except when it comes to his ultimate and the activation of his E) is Trundle. His slows coupled with the terrain obstacle can help deter Vulrog. Lux's slow as well can help to keep him at bay while you either escape or position. Also, most counters for Hecarim will work for Vulrog.
Early Vulrog should focus on farming the minions with his passive and Q. After purchasing his items he should then focus on getting that first turret. Continue to use the charges to instigate or escape and Vulrog will be easy to keep out of danger. In team fights Vulrog is extremely useful. If you're losing the fight a well place Vulrog E leading into a well placed Q and W can thin out the heard as well as control the field allowing your allies to target the weakest or easiest of the enemies, or even cordone off the strongest one and kill them with everything you have while the others are too far away or just too scattered to help much. This also allows weakened allies to escape if neccessary.
Quotes: Upon Selection: Neighing "Easy there Lok'Tar. We ride."
Attacking: "Face our might!" "We'll run you down!" "Stomp them Lok'Tar!" "Crush them beneath your hooves!" "You cannot run from us!" "Chase them down! Skewer them!" "Trample them!"
Moving: "As one Lok'Tar!" "Swift Lok'Tar!" "Let's ride!" "They won't know what hit them." "Like those before me, I ride!"
Upon dying: Vulrog hunches over and pats Lok'Tar and grabs the mane. Then smiles as Lok'Tar carries him back to the base.
Recalling: Vulrog pats Lok'Tar's mane. Lok'Tar does that horse like sigh (Idk what it's called where they shake their head and make that sound) and then begins to circle. Lowering his head to eat some grass until they recall.
Interactions+jokes+taunts: "You call that a stead? That's nothing but bacon!" Laughs To Sejuani. "Oh come on! What're you doing? You're riding my breakfast girl!" To Sejuani. The funniest thing about those two jokes....is that he is a vegan. XD "Come girl. I bet you won't last one race with me and Lok'Tar." To Sejuani. "Umm, boy....I'm not sure that's a horse. Oh, you know it isn't? Ok, ok. Just checking...weirdo." To Nunu. He mutters weirdo under his breath. "Seriously don't think those are meant for riding boy," To Nunu. "Lok'Tar, I think she likes you." Referring to Hecarim. Lok'Tar then bucks and knocks him off to which he laughs and says, "Alright, alright. Just having a bit of fun. She isn't your type anyways." Making fun of Hecarims mane as well as horse body. He knows that Hecarim isn't a girl as well. That is part of the joke. "Lok'Tar. Maybe we should try fusing?" He gets down and Lok'Tar does a sort of horse noise like a sigh as Vulrog mimics the whole fusion thing from DBZ and Lok'Tar mimics it the best he can and puts his head to the fingertips of Vulrog. There's a brief light, but nothing happens. After it doesn't work he shrugs and gets back on Lok'Tar and says, "Maybe we did it wrong. Oh well. That'd just be weird anyways." Lok'Tar makes a horse noise in relieved agreement.
