Another mage champion....

I like the concept (especially now that Ryze doesn't have his huge book anymore) but as others have said, he would need a gameplay niche to fill that would make them unique.

Unfortunately nothing of the sort really stands out to me, except maybe a slightly less overloaded version of the Evoker/Invoker(?) from DotA in that their abilities correspond to runes or spells they can combine for additional effects.

well what ever riot tries to do i hope it turns out great thats the only thing i can really hope for just my own personal opions in the mix and in a previous comment i suggest making the mage A TRUE champion AOE based besides Orianna Viktor i want to feel like im pummeling the earth with pure magic and everything else getting hit is just a small casualty

I was thinking something maybe like Robin in Smash? Some of his abilities could be very strong, but you only have a limited amount so that using them in quick succession would leave you with a very long cooldown?

That mechanic had less to do with the fact he used books and more with the Durability mechanic of the Fire Emblem game he starred in, so I'm not entirely certain that would fit here.

I was thinking that, but I decided to lean on smash as it made his abilities very strong. But yeah, it can be a stretch. That's not to say it couldn't be done though.

Well riot always wants to put in a unique mechanic that no other champion has. Like Rakan's ulti running arround playing tag to cc the enemy, camille's ultimate and hookshot, ivern's jungle clear... etc. I can't think of a unique mechanic, that no other champ has and that fits the theme of a classic mage. Any ideas?

well i would go to the fate universe for that in fate stay night the common thing all "caster class" servants have is they can claim whole areas as their base of operations and make it their work shop where they are their strongest.So maybe a champion that binds themselves to a location periodically of their own free will so maybe an AOE mage where their abilities get stronger in said work shop.

Yes Fate stay night is an awesome anime. The idea sounds interesting, but maybe it is not what i think of, when reading what you described about the classic mage above.

i meant more in style of look play style can be different sry if i wasnt clear thats why i have Margaret and Elizabeth from person they have a very hands off play style (mostly Margaret) and play like a "mage" in the fighter game Persona arena. also mages are supposed to be powerful epic humans who mastered powers most others couldn't fathom Xerath Syndra Leblanc Ryze
