[Champion Concept] Haedric, the Solari's Secret
Haedric is a member of the Solari, wielding a shield and sword and the sun's radiance as Leona does. After creating him, I realize he doesn't really specialize in jack shit, and has no redeeming qualities except providing a little bit of vision and dealing out AoE damage in a large area. The only reason you would play him is if he looks cool being mediocre.
#Abilities
Passive: Sunstroke - Dealing damage with abilities steals some MR and reduces Armor. Scales with champion level.
Q: Burn a Path - Sweeps his sword in a wide arc twice while stepping forward, becoming immune to roots and slows and dealing physical damage. Each swing burns brush for a limited time. Burning brush deals slight true damage to enemies and allows allies vision within, near, and through it (as if it's not there). CD is not reduced each point
W: Solari Vanguard - (Passive) Automatically lifts his shield to defend himself, knocking back a very short distance champions and large monsters and Super minions that hit him with a melee basic attack and reducing the damage of ranged basic attacks. This can only happen once in a while per target.
(Active) Puts his shield away to wield his sword with two hands, losing the passive effect but gaining Lifesteal and Lethality (the new armor pen)
E: New Dawn - Create a miniature Sun that travels to target location. The Sun reveals the area and any camouflaged units within. Hitting a Sun with (Q) Burn a Path increases the vision range temporarily and causes it to emanate fiery eruptions which deal magic damage in the area. Can gain a second charge, but takes twice as long to generate it (if the CD is 10 seconds, it takes 20 seconds after having 1 charge to gain the second).
R: Herald of the End - Swap positions with target Sun, then shortly after the Sun will explode in a supernova dealing magic damage over time. Can reactivate R to activate the supernova early. Getting a kill or assist on a burning champion causes the supernova to reform into a new Sun.
#Gameplay
He will have a much better AD ratio on (Q) Burn a Path than AP, but only an AP ratio on (E) New Dawn and (R) Herald of the End. If you want him to be AD you max out Q and W for the physical damage/AD ratio and the Lifesteal/Lethality. To play AP you max (E) first.
Can be an ok Support due to his natural defenses and utility through Sun vision, but has no CC. Can Jungle only ok for the same reason, no CC again so his teamfighting/ganks are limited to coming in fast to deal lots of damage. Preferred roles as top or mid; no real setup time to combo, good escape or engage if you have Ult, hard to build resistance against.
Suns can be used for vision, AoE wave clearing, engage or escape with Ult. Q provides some vision as well when burning bushes, but can be great for restricting where the enemy wants to go.
Doesn't need a lot of MR because he can steal it, doesn't need a lot of Lethality because his W can generate it. Works well with Rylai's because of his AoE magic damage and doesn't have any CC it will overlap.
#Lore
Haedric is a member of the Solari that prophesied that the sun would explode, and was telling everybody. They really didn't like that shit even if it was true, so stuck him in the farthest and most solitary position they could find him. The guy is too daft to even realize he was given a worthless post, he just travels to the nearest towns and villages and bothers them with it.
Diana kind of likes him for that even though he's still a Solari, but he hates her anyway :P
I'm so fucking invested in lore and good at it, can't you tell?
#Quotes
"The dawn has arrived, but it may be the last." "Stop, drop, and roll. Kidding, that won't help you!" "Do you have a moment to speak about the end of times?" To allied Leona "You say I am wrong. That comforts me, but only until I wake." To enemy Nocturne "The darkness is coming, fiend, but not today!"
#Additional thoughts
Just bored and threw this together. Thinking maybe he might need some amount of CC built in, but I don't want him to be too similar to Leona. I don't want him to rely on Rylai's just to get some hits in so I was thinking maybe he should gain some movespeed while within the fiery effects of his kit, or a root if he hits the same target with both sweeps of Q.
I like the idea of setting brush on fire, and naturally you'd think it gives you some vision, but with the Sun vision that might be too much.
If his only capability is providing a little bit of vision and dealing out damage that anybody else could do, buffing his (E) to focus his strength on being a unique type of tank may be necessary (while nerfing his damage).
