champion concept Kor'zan the will of the void
hello all. i am coming to you from the EUW boards. I come here with two things in mind, bring my champion concepts to a wider audience and get some more diverse feedback on what could make them even better. To this effect i will be posting my concepts on this board every so often. please be specific as you can with your comments: if you don't like a skill please say which one so i can work on a replacement; if the numbers are too high please say so i can nerf them or if you just don't like the theme of the champ then speak up.
so let's start off on a weird note with Kor'zan
contents design brief role stats abilites lore quotes portrait idea playstyle items CCOS bonus poll (please answer this)
New Voidling that focuses on damage and disruption via spells and taking control of units and limited control of champions via two unique crowd controls, enslave and confusion.
Targets affected by enslave are made into controllable pets for a time or until they die. Enslaved units are treated as pets so: they can be targeted by enemies and be killed for gold and XP, even if the enslaved unit was an enemy beforehand and all gold and experience gained by the enslaved target goes to Kor'zan. If they are killed by an enemy before the enslave effect ends then the killer receives gold for the kill.
Targets affected by confusion will attempt to use basic attacks on a random champion for the duration. Champions under the effect will see other champions as Kor’zan.
Role: mage
Stats Health:510-1802 Health regen: 5.5-14.9 Mana: 322-1087 Mana regen: 6.0-19.8 Ranged:525 Attack damage:55-105 Attack speed:0.626 (+0%-35.3%) Armour:21.7-81.3 Magic resist:30 Movement speed: 335
Appearance: general build is quite thin and physically fragile. Head has no visible eyes and glows with a pulsating purple light. Has two clawed arms and two tentacles extending from her shoulder blades that end in three fingered tripod claws. “Legs” are six tentacles extending from the base of her torso, arranged like a skirt. Hovers above the ground.
Abilities Passive: Will of the void On hit damage: 25/35/45/55 (+20% AP) Armour/magic resist granted to enslaved: 10/15/20/25 (+15%/20%/25%/30% armour and magic resist)
All non-champion units, excluding dragon, baron nashor and champion clones created by omen of war and children of the grave, can be affected by enslave. Enslaved targets gain a portion of Kor’zan’s armour and magic resist, deal a portion of her ability power as magic damage with their basic attacks and will expire, taking 75% of their max health as magic damage, when the effect ends.
Enslave lasts for 10+(lvlX1.5) seconds and Kor’zan can have up to 4 units enslaved at once, any units enslaved past 4 will cause the oldest enslaved unit to expire.
Enemy champions can’t be enslaved and will be affected by confusion instead, dealing 75% damage with their attacks and being unable to critically strike or apply on-hit effects. Kor’zan’s spells add stacks of will of the void to enemy champions for 6 seconds, the duration is refreshed by landing basic attacks on the target. When the target reaches three stacks the target will be vulnerable to confusion effects. Will of the void is not consumed when the target is confused so the enemy can be continually confused if they have 3 stacks on them.
Q: psi lance Mana:40/45/50/55/60 Range:1000 Orb damage: 80/120/160/200/240 (+70% AP) Beam damage:60/90/120/150/180 (+52.5% AP) Cooldown:7 seconds Fires an orb of psionic energy in line. When it strikes an enemy or is re-activated it will fire forward a beam that deals 75% of the orb’s damage to all enemies caught in its path, reaching the rest of the orbs range.
W: Mind merge Mana:50/60/70/80 Range:750 DoT damage: 30/45/60/75/90(+50% AP) Confusion duration: 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5 Cooldown: 6 seconds On champion target cool-down:12
Casting mind merge causes the next cast within the next 8 seconds to cost 20% more mana, stacking 3 times for a max cost of 80 mana.
Has different effects based on the target. On non-champions, regardless of alignment, the target is enslaved.
On allied champions Kor’zan and the target receive the bonuses of enslaved targets for the normal duration of enslave effects; dealing bonus magic damage on-hit and gaining enhanced resistances, so long as they remain within range of each other. Self cast, the nearest ally will be affected. Kor’zan can only link with a single ally at a time and the linked ally counts toward her limit on enslaved units.
On enemy champions the target takes magic damage over 3 seconds and if they reach 3 stacks of will of the void during that time they suffer confusion. After having mind merge cast on them individual champions become immune to mind merge for twice the ability’s cool-down.
E: Mental force Mana: 60 Range:800 Tether damage: 50/70/90/110/130 (+45% AP) Orb damage:75/105/135/165/195 (+67.5 AP) Slow:40%/45%/50%/55%/60% Cooldown: 12 seconds Fires out two slow moving orbs, 450 units apart and connected by an energy tether. Enemies that pass through the tether take damage and affected with a decaying slow for 3 seconds. Enemies hit by the orbs will detonate them, dealing 1.5x the magic damage of the tether and the same slow in a 100 radius area, but destroying the tether. The ability can be reactivated to bring the orbs together in the centre of the tether but targets can only be affected by one orb. Mental force can apply two stacks of will of the void to a single target, once from touching the tether and once from detonating an orb.
R: Hysteria Mana:100 Range:625 Damage per blast:40/80/120 (+25% AP) Max damage: 160/320/480 (+100% AP) slow:10%/15%/20% Confusion duration: 1/1.25/1.5 Cooldown: 140/130/120 Kor’zan will channel for up to 3 seconds, creating a 250 unit radius vortex of energy that releasing four blasts of pure psionic energy from a target location, once at the start and again at the 1 second intervals. Each blast will damage and enslave all non-champions and affect champions with a stack of will of the void and trigger confusion. Subsequent blasts will refresh the duration of the enslave and confusion effects. Enemies not affected by either confusion or enslave will be slowed by the vortex. Kor’zan can still give orders to enslaved units while channelling.
Lore The void hides many horrors in its dark confines, proof of this in the form of the terrifyingly powerful and intelligent creatures that call this hell space home; creatures able to manipulate strange power and even their own physiology to wipe out countless foes. Perhaps the most terrifying of these creatures is the one known as Kor’zan. From what little is known about the creature, gained from those who escape with their lives but not their sanity, describe an exceedingly intelligent, ambitious and sadistic being that wields its mind as a weapon with a proficiency deadlier than even the most seasoned duellists wields their blade. Only the best summoners in the league where able to contain this monstrosity when it finally did materialize and more than a few were lost in the process, either to madness or death (via obliteration and suicide in their madness). Now Kor’zan is a most dangerous prisoner of the league, like her fellow voidborn, but it is a guarantee that a creature this intelligent may just be biding its time. She is clearly waiting for the perfect moment to escape and inflict psychological agony on all in her way, with her captors being first, and take over Valoren. With the sheer power it takes to restrain her and protect the other champions on the fields of justice, it would not be hard to imagine her succeeding.
Quotes (speaks with a disembodied voice) Upon selection “They will be ours to command” Attacking “They are afraid. Good” “Their minds are frail” “Brain beats brawn every time” “Now, die” “Your permission is not required” Movement “Where are they hiding?” “The weakest minds always hide in the strongest bodies” “Loyalty is irrelevant when you command their every thought” “Break those who refuse to bend” “Bend those who will not break“ Taunting “I know all your darkest fears” “You cannot escape your own mind, especially when I have the key” Joke “The things locked away in your head summoner. They make me...uncomfortable” “My power...is why I don’t get invited to poker nights” Dance Kor’zan will perform the Hawaiian hula dance
portrait would be helmet bro and possibly some minions with glowing purple eyes attacking someone infront of them with a purple tether connecting thier head's to kor'zan's, who is behind them with one hand out streched (like she is puppeting them).
Play style Kor’zan is a mid lane mage with good range and devastating crowd controls that can be used to keep both her and her allies safe from harm and leave the enemy defenceless.
Will of the void means that Kor’zan works best when focusing her efforts on a single target so she can effectively damage them and, when she lands enough spells on them, potentially send them against their own allies. Confusion has both offensive and defensive attributes that vary with who it affects. Cast on auto attack dependent carries can bring lessen the damage your team take while forcing enemies to take some friendly fire. Against casters confusion can completely destroy their damage output and disrupting power while leaving squishy assassins and mages completely vulnerable to your team.
In lane the long range of psi lance can be used to farm and to harass her opponent from safety. If you are having trouble hitting them with orb then try using the beam instead, it has lower damage but an instant travel time.
Mind merge can be used to create zones of controls by taking over enemy minions and sending them against your opponent, this can force them to either move away for risk taking damage or killing your slave. Try to keep at least one enslaved unit around to keep your damage output up in between spell casts. In larger fights casting mind merge on high attack speed allies like can bring massive amounts of damage to bear on your enemies while also bolstering their defences.
Mental force is both a defensive and offensive skill. The slow can stop enemies from reaching your weak frame and stop them juking your psi lance. Additionally if the damage from the tether and orbs together can deal massive burst but can hard to pull off as the orbs still move forward while coming together.
Hysteria can change the entire course of a team fight but leaves Kor’zan extremely vulnerable while channelling, consider having one of your team mates focus on protecting you.
Items Kor’zan should be built with ability power and Cooldown reduction to maximise her damage output and utility, mana regen to keep her casting and resistances for the survivability of herself and her enslaved.
Items to consider Athene’s unholy grail is a great choice as it grants everything kor’zan needs: AP and Cooldown reduction for damage; huge mana regen to deal with the stacking mana costs of mind merge and magic resist to protect herself and her enslaved from magic damage.
Consider archangel’s staff to deal with her mana issues, provide a good amount of AP and a useful shield. The relatively spamable nature of mind merge and psi lance allows the passive to be stacked at a good rate. Rod of ages can also be considered as a more defensive item though resistances should be chosen over raw health for defence as it also bolsters her enslaved’s defences.
Against physical damage Zhonya’s hourglass is a great choice, the active protects against all kinds of burst attempts, the AP it grants greatly improves your damage and the armour it grants will keep you and your enslaved alive and attacking longer.
Kor’zan has many options available for boots: sorcerer’s shoes will boost her damage, Ionian boots of lucidity allow her to unload her abilities more often while ninja tabi and mercury treads can keep her safe against auto attackers and crowd control respectively.
Items to avoid While Luden’s echo can enhance your bursting power it’s passive it poorly used on Kor’zan due to her immobility and reliance on her enslaved for damage between spells.
Lich bane should be avoided entirely as it grants little AP and while the mana it grants helps passive is almost entirely wasted on her as all her spells exceed her auto attack range, to use it would leave her exposed.
While abyssal sceptre grants a large amount of magic resist for durability its passive is wasted on Kor’zan as her enemies will rarely be in range of it.
Liandrie’s torment should not be a priority as the AP it grants is low and the health is only useful to Kor’zan. In addition while the passive can be constantly refreshed by mind merge’s DoT it is poorly used elsewhere in her kit.
