champion concepts being downvoted

As i am sure many of you have noticed there are a large number of champion concepts that are being downvoted mere hours after being posted with no reason behind it. I would like to ask the persons doing this some questions, Why are you doing this? Do you not like people proposing thier own champions? Would you rather see skin concepts instead? Or are you people just looking to screw us over for nothing more than your own ammusment? Now before you say that I'm over reacting or my concpets are crap let me tell you somthing, this doesn't happen on the EUW boards. I have not had this problem back on my home board and i know people like my concepts, they have told me themselves tat they like it and if they don't then they at least can be bothered to tell me what they don't like so i can fix it.

If this has happened to you as well please let me know or if any of the people doing this downvoting are reading this maybe you could enlighten us to what you get out of this, i'm at a loss.

I am ready to admit that I am harshly critical of most things on these boards. Although I do have a process when it comes to Champion Concepts;

  1. Name and Title; Since this is usually the title of the post, this is also the noteworthy selling point of the concept. I often downvote Champions for having either A. an absurd name (look at the majority of Void Champion concepts), or B. an absurd title. Why would these be important, one might ask? Riot has the creative liberty to change what needs to be changed - but, again, read above. The name and title should be a selling point, something to show that you've got things thought out. A Champion named something like "Cara, the Mad Boot", won't get any kindness, regardless of how well-thought the abilities are. Albeit, with a title like that, you're really limiting yourself already.
  2. Images; Why this? Copying images, with or without credit. You'll sometimes find someone using original art, but a majority of the time you'll find something linked from Imgur or DeviantArt or something like that, and it really gets aggravating when it's simple stuff like that. Either use original art/commissions, or...
  3. Descriptions; Your own literary prowess, whatever that may be. This should be the first logical leap for those who don't have a particular skill or confidence with art, even if it's less effective than having artwork used. Having a character description (involving race, gender, physical appearance and outfit, as well as ability effects, although that's optional) gives room to visualize for oneself. In fact, one might be lucky enough to receive fanart of their concept if someone enjoys the description and can put it to paper.
  4. Abilities; If you've made it this far in my process, I have to congratulate you, but it's not even worth minding being this far along in one person's process. Getting to the point; Champion abilities should be clear enough that you understand what it is and can visualize it being used in your head, while also being original. There are also some other things worth noting; A. Passives should be used with caution. Decking out your champion with passives muddies the concept with needless effects, while in some cases a passive might be warranted. B. Conditional statements are also something to be used cautiously. An example of a conditional used correctly is Singed's Fling rooting the enemy if they land in his Mega Adhesive. Having a conditional statement for every ability, again, screws up the concept in a major way. C. Copying abilities is not ideal. "Paraphrasing" abilities might work, though. Some champions have abilities that can be mocked without directly being replicated. Maybe your champion empowers their basic attacks with magic damage, to separate from Orianna's Clockwork Windup? Maybe they can slow themselves as they channel an ability, but rather than a projectile or a line burst like Varus and Xerath have, it could be something like a conic wave? Originality doesn't always suit, but copying and pasting abilities doesn't either.
  5. Ability Names; Yes. I'm a drag. First, read above; be original. There's plenty of ways to check to make sure that ability name isn't already in use, so you don't wind up with Cull the Meek or Contempt for the Weak or even Vorpal Blade on accident. And second, be creative while also fitting your champion's theme. If you've got a desert themed champion, maybe their spells orient around sandstorms? Dervish, Quicksand, etc. could fit with such a champion.
  6. Theme; This is the last to be listed, but not the last to be considered. Your champions theme means a lot, and I don't mean from a target audience standpoint. I mean from a creator's standpoint. You want to be able to work with this concept; create abilities, flesh out lore, create new abilities if/when you find that some don't work, etc. The idea above, with a sand-themed champion, wouldn't necessarily work, in my case, for the fact that I could only come up with two ability names for him/her. Others might be more capable of creating abilities, but from my standpoint, I wouldn't want to create a sand-themed champion.

So, with that all said, I hope you can understand my semi-idiotic meticulousness and relatively frequent downvoting.

i actually don't know what people downvote them it's not like riot will magically make them real champions probs just haters

also this community is pretty toxic so i wouldn't be surprised if it was just to make people upset.

I know you bro. Same for me. Sometimes i get a downvote before anyone could even read on champ. I think it all depends on when you post your concept, because majority of haters here is downvoting from 12:00 till 24:00 (GMT +1). If you post something before or after that, then the probability to get a downvote is smaller.

Tested on myself. Posted this concept early, didn't get downvotes and managed to get to a lot of feed back. Posted similar concept, but got downvoted hard and it was mostly ignored.

op is absolutely right. The baker pantheon and unprepared garen ones are ridiculous but are popular because they are warm and fuzzy which makes the rioters* happy and 'tickles their fancy' as they'd see it/put it. It also aligns with current political activism that is reassuring and 'safe' to them. This includes the wannabe rioters who think the same way to impress riot.

Ones like the demonic skins one, particularly the hawt as fuck Zyra, and Thresh should be at the top. But never will be because of aforementioned reasons.

*generalised group, exceptions not included

If I'm around I downvote popular ones on this principle, not that it makes any difference.
