Assassin rework ideas

Bârd··2 votes·1,150 views

NOTE This is purely for the kits of certain assassins. Items are not being addressed here. Some assassins are not listed here (Fizz, Zed, Talon) because I just don't have any ideas for them (that I can remember right now, anyways).

Akali General New Ability Icons

Shadow Dance cooldown 2/1.5/1 seconds >> 0.5 seconds new: (passive) If cast from outside enemy vision, Akali will receive a 0.75 second stealth and 50% movement speed boost on arrival.

Diana Moonfall ~~ cast from Diana's location ~~ >> Ground target ability, 750 range. (alt+E will cause a Moonfall at Diana's current location)

Evelynn General New Ability Icons

Shadow Walk ~~ grants stealth ~~ >> no longer grants stealth (in the traditional sense) ~~ deactivates in combat ~~ >> persistant ~~ grants mana regen while~~ >> no longer grants mana regen new: To all enemy champions who are neither within range of you, nor have a ward THAT THEY OWN within range of you, you are undetectable. They will see nothing if they hover over your current location, and will not be able to see you on the mini map. This cloaking is personal to each enemy. It is possible for one champion to be able to see Evelynn and another to not be able.

Hate Spike mana cost 12/18/24/30/36 mana >> 12/14/16/18/20 mana

Dark Frenzy mana cost 40 mana >> 0 mana

Agonys Embrace shields >> no longer shields Instant Damage ~~ 15/20/25 (+1% per 100 AP) current HP ~~ >> 0 new: Marks all targets hit for 6 seconds. Every three seconds, marked targets take magic damage equal to 10/15/20% (+1% per 100 AP) of the damage they have taken from all sources since they were marked. Base Slow 40/60/80% for 2 seconds >> 0% for 6 seconds. new: slow is increased by 1% per 1% missing health

Shaco Backstab Now has a visual indicator and a sound effect for successful backstabs

Hallucinate new: By holding R before using an ability, the clone can be made to imitate that ability. note: abilities will not actually be cast, with the exception of deceive. They are only mimicked. E will throw a dagger that does nothing, W will place a box that is not really there.

Kassadin Void Stone 15% magic resistance >> 0% magic resistance new: Kassadin gains % magic penetration equal to 25% of his current % magic resistance.

Null Sphere Magic Damage 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 / 170 (+ 70% AP) >> 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+ 65% AP) new: The target has their cooldowns frozen for 2 seconds. Available abilities are unaffected. For each cooldown frozen, Null Sphere will deal 25 (+ 5% AP) bonus magic damage. edit: meant to say basic ability cooldowns

Why? What justification do these changes come with? These all look like unnecessary buffs to me.

Every big update is a buff. They nerf or remove something just to buff the other abilities of the champion.

That's not a justification. Why should these champions be buffed?

You may feel free to provide an answer, though the question is directed at The True Bard.

Akali Toying around with the whole "dipping into and out of stealth" thing. Probably the least thought out of the bunch. Diana gives her some more ganking power pre 6, maybe bring her out of the shadows a bit. Evelynn her passive permanent stealth gimps her a lot. This way, she can be seen coming, but only if you ward well, watch the wards, and ping people back when you see them coming. The whole "unseen death from the shadows" could be pretty spooky, and not having vision of her could be scary. As for the ult, I felt it worked better thematically. Eve is a massive sadist, so making her hurt more Shaco Clarity for backstab and clone trickery. I am pretty sure that these are two things Shaco players like. Kassadin I don't exactly LIKE the idea I had for a new passive, I just know that I also find his current passive dissatisfying. Kassadin's Q being a silence was overbearing, and a "cooldown freeze" helps him fill out his antimage playstyle, while leaving SOME counterplay (hold onto what abilities you can until after Kass blows his Q to take less damage)

Now, why buffs? Two reasons.

  1. Most of these guys are a bit on the weaker side (except Diana)
  2. If I was to try and come up with a rework that was an overall nerf, I would probably get bored. That is why I didn't do any for Zed or Fizz (Didn't do one for talon because I honestly don't know what to do with him).

Now I can give you feedback.

Akali Toying around with the whole "dipping into and out of stealth" thing. Probably the least thought out of the bunch.

--The cooldown reduction is unnecessary and far too strong. Mobility is a limited resource for most champions and 0.5 seconds is too little. There is no counterplay for that. --The other changes looked interesting and potentially good. However, Akali also needs some other balance changes that this doesn't address, so, while it's good, Akali needs to be nerfed in other areas to avoid the Tank Assassin syndrome yet again.

Diana gives her some more ganking power pre 6, maybe bring her out of the shadows a bit.

--This might work. I think you're on the right track with this. As a note though, the wording is a little puzzling at first.

Eve is a massive sadist, so making her hurt more

--This is a bad idea. It would make playing against her living hell. It's already bad enough that you need to sacrifice a slot for pinks all the time, this would ensure that the pinks aren't even quite enough. It's really just bad all through. It also makes playing her more annoying, because she loses some crucial sustain (yes, you adjusted the mana costs, but it's not enough, and if you lower them more it will be too much. Sustain is not the same as consumption. Notably, her clear speed would increase, while her ability to maintain a presence--which is her main purpose--is decreased.) --I do think the Ultimate changes could be good though.

Shaco Clarity for backstab and clone trickery. I am pretty sure that these are two things Shaco players like.

--The clarity is already improved in this recent patch. --Hallucinate changes are alright.

--Kassadin is very strong, but selective. --The cooldown freeze is 97% guaranteed to breed toxicity. (Counterplay will barely matter, he gets the free chance to murder you if you wait to cast. You should already be waiting for your tank to CC him anyway, this will just make 1v1s and ganks intensely difficult.) --That passive is intense...

There you are. My (mostly) comprehensive assessment of your suggestions. I enjoy these concepts, though, so please understand that I am very happy you posted this, I just needed to understand why.

No thanks. But Eve could use some work on her ult and passive and Q.

I absolutely love the change to Kassadin

It adds decision making to him and he would be more of a skilled champion and... well, he needed a buff
