Hello again, Summoners! This is my second entry to the Item Creation Contest of Swegmec (https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/R26yqkzy-item-creation-contest-1-registration-closes-dec-10#oembed-content-modal).

Piltover Recombobulator

  • 300 Health
  • 300 Mana
  • 40 Armor
  • 10% Cooldown Reduction

UNIQUE Passive: Decombobulation - Increases damage to structures by 12%. UNIQUE Passive: Recombobulator Absorbtion - Slaying a Large Monster absorbs its essence into the Recombobulator, allowing the usage of Recombobulation. UNIQUE Active: Recombobulation - Infuses target friendly minion with essence of latest killed Large Monster, transforming the minion to the monster. The monster is also provides **Decombobulation **to nearby friendly units (120 second cooldown).

Additional information

  • _Decombobulation _ provided by the Recombobulated minion does not buff the minion itself.
  • Rift Scuttler's essence cannot be absorbed by the Recombobulator.
  • Recombobulated minions cannot be targeted by Banner of Command, since they are no longer minions.
  • Just as the Large Monsters become more powerful over the course of the game, so do the infused minions. They always become counterpart of the real monster.

Origin of the name

  • Well, Recombobulator is a name of a Hearthstone card. It was kind of crazy, but sometimes super useful. And I guess that this item is exactly the same; crazy, but useful.

Build Path

item 1028 (Ruby Crystal - 400 Gold) + item 1028 (Ruby Crystal - 400 Gold) + item 3024 (Glacial Shroud - 900 Gold) + Combine Cost - 800 Gold

TOTAL COST - 2500 Gold

  • I guess the build path is quite straightforward - since the item offers little combat capabilities, it quite deserves to be made up from rather cheap items. Ruby Crystals are there to provide the item with the health it needs, and since the recombobulator is practically a pocket gun, they would make an ideal decoration if nothing else, while the Glacial Shrould would be like an energy source.

Usage and ideas

  • Well, this is the kind of item that goes well with Zz'rot Portal or Banner of Command. The minion augmenting items have always been a little bit controversial, but I have always found them to be one of the most interesting items in the game. I believe, that the trio of Recombobulator, Banner and Portal would be a force to be reckoned with, a true pushing power.
  • As I said before, I imagined this item to be built with Banner and Portal to create the ultimate pushing power. Even though the monsters themselves cannot be targeted by the banner, the Decombobulation aura they provide does affect the Banner-empowered minion. Plus a swarm of bugs, accompanied by a Gromp, and an empowered cannon minions definitely seems menacing.
  • Although this item might be viewed as a jungler item, I can definitely imagine top laners picking this up, since it gives a little bit of tankiness as well. Of course, junglers will have easier time picking up the monsters' essences, but all players can definitely defeat Large Monsters later on in the game.
  • With a good coordination, this might as well become a support item. However, the support will need to land a last hit on the Large Monster to absorb its essence, thus they will automatically get the gold, which is a little bit unconventional. Plus the Decombobulation passive is a little bit useless for a support, so this can work, but only in a very specific scenario.

Let's run through how OP this is for a moment.

Have you ever played Doom Bots? One of the most terrifying abilities that the bots always get is the ability to siege with monsters. This includes, say, Red and Blue Buff. With a 2 minute cooldown, you could reliably throw out both into lanes if you were able to get your hands on it.

Here's the most broken combination I can see this working out on.

You get a Yorick Top, who builds this item and Zz'Rot portal. Additionally, you get a Heim mid who also gets it along with the banner of command item.

Then, you run with an Ivern Jungle, allowing for the both of them to take red/blue buff, which they replace a melee minion with top side while dropping their portals and Yorick R.

Yorick heads mid, his work complete, while Heim stays with the frankly absurd wave to place down towers and ult himself.

There is absolutely nothing anyone can do against this. Heimerdinger would naturally be going almost full armor with this idea (and his OP as fuck Zhonya's rush this season) so an AD champion would get screwed by him, while AP would suffer from the Red Buff and Banner Minion, requiring a minimum of 2 champions just to wave clear.

And that's not accounting for the raw damage+health numbers of everything. They could push from outer tower to inhib in about 40-50 seconds with no previous progress.

No. Just no.

But if the structure dmg bonus would apply to laners, why do they have to kill monsters (a jungling thing) to get the passive?

Okay, so I'm gonna do a bit of math here, using my item-gold calculator. 300 HP translates to 800 gold. That's fine. 300 Mana translates to 420 gold. Also fine. 40 Armor? 800 gold. Already at 2020 gold. Not bad, not bad. Except 10% CDR is worth 300 gold, putting you at 2320 gold's worth of stats before your passives and actives, which is fairly good. You've got that down-- but there are still the design issues. I'd increase the cost to maybe 2900 gold; this is a really cheap item, with a really strong effect. However, this effect also doesn't make too much sense; you apply it on a minion, meaning you'd want to have it push down a lane, but you have to have killed an enemy, meaning you'd have to be in the jungle. There's no real plausible way to get the full effect out of this item, and I don't know where this would fit into. It's the Ohmwrecker issue; it's a strong effect, sure, but it's bad because you just can't get the best out of it (in Ohmwrecker's case, a tank item built for diving, but being a tank means you won't have the damage to dive).
