[Champion Concept] Markus, Slayer of Giants

Name: Markus Cain (last name is generic, but I'm writing this all from scratch so gimme a break) Title: Slayer of Giants (or The Giant Slayer)

Role: Top Fighter/Tank or Marksman/ADC Type: Ranged

AUTHOR'S NOTES: This idea spawns from a desire to take interesting concepts I've seen and turn them into cool champions for League of Legends. Markus comes as an idea I had whilst playing the game Titan Souls. Considering there was no name for the character, I figured I could come up with some cool abilities for him to have. I have no template for this champion; this is all right out of my head. As a result, a lot of these abilities are gonna seem clunky and either useless or OP. For this particular concept, I'm asking everyone who views this to drop me some critique so I can modify Markus and make him better than he will be. You don't have to, but I'd prefer not to have 10 down votes and no explanation or recommendation for making him better. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy!


Lore: A Lost Legacy

Markus descends from a long history of men and women who devoted their lives to hunting down giants and their kin. Long has the race of massive humanoids troubled the other races of Valoran, and it has always been up to the Giant Slayers to cull them before the problem becomes too great. But in the last 100 years, the population of Giants has slowly dwindled to none. As they died, so did the profession of slaying them.

One of the last Giant Slayers alive on all of Runeterra, Markus set his sights on the League in pursuit of a new career. Not officially aligned with any one city-state, Markus has stated that he "Fights for the people." But such statements cannot be taken seriously; the energetic 34-year-old fights for a profit and for his own desires. Armed with an enchanted bow and arrow (notice: arrow) that is the tool of his trade, Markus plans to take the Rift by storm.


Abiliites

[Passive] - Bane of Giants: Markus is armed with only a singular arrow, but looks can be deceiving. This arrow is specially enchanted to return to Markus automatically after a time, and will never break. Markus may fire it every 20 seconds as an alternate basic attack to deal a bonus 10, 20, 35 (+25% of AD) physical damage and 10, 20, 35 (+35% of AP) magic damage to his target. Due to the force he puts into the shot, the arrow will stick in his target for 4 seconds, dealing a continuous 5, 10, 15 true damage every second. If he gets the last hit on the target the arrow is impaled with, the cooldown of Bane of Giants is reduced by 4 seconds.

Whilst he is missing his arrow, Markus fires a small barrage of phantom arrows at targets he attacks. The barrage normally is 3, 5, 7 arrows that each deal 13, 15, 17% of his attack damage, but the number increases to 5, 8, 11 if he attacks targets afflicted by his arrow. Markus may not impale targets with his arrow more than once every 30 seconds, regardless if he uses it or not.

Mana Cost: None Cooldown: 20

[Q] - Dodge-Roll: Markus becomes untargetable, dodging towards the cursor 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 units. Once he ends his roll, he fires his arrow quickly at a nearby target to deal 30, 50, 70, 90, 110 (+90% of AD) physical damage to the target. He will do this regardless of whether or not his passive is ready to be used, but using Dodge-Roll will increase the cooldown of Markus's passive by 5 second (and set the cooldown to 5 if it is not already on cooldown).

Mana Cost: 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 Cooldown: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10

[W] - Rain of Arrows: Markus fires his arrow up into the sky, calling down a storm of arrows to fall at the target location haphazardly. Enemies in the 600 unit radius are slowed by 20, 25, 30, 35, 40% and take 35, 60, 75, 90, 105 (+25% of AD) physical damage every second. The area lasts for 4 seconds, and using this ability puts Markus' passive on cooldown for an extra 10 seconds (although he can still cast this ability if his passive is on cooldown).

Mana Cost: 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 Cooldown: 20, 19, 18, 17, 15

[E] - Strength of the Prey: [Toggle On] Markus fires his arrow with the strength of the creatures he hunts, making auto attacks he does during this time with his arrow stun his target for 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2 seconds. However, he has to wind up the bow for 0.75 seconds before firing every shot (regardless of his passive being ready or not), and being hit by an enemy auto attack or ability will slow him by 6, 9, 12, 15, 18% for 1.5 seconds. However, he deals 10, 14, 18, 22, 24 (+10% of AD) bonus true damage to targets he hits. The stun cannot proc on the same target more than once every 15 seconds.

[Toggle Off] Markus absorbs the strength of targets he kills, as he is accustomed to doing with the Giants he hunts. Whilst Strength of the Prey is toggled off, Markus' last hits against enemy minions and neutral monsters will increase the damage of his next empowered basic attack by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6% and restore 5, 7, 9, 11, 14 (+2, 3, 4, 5, 6 per 2% of missing health) health to him. Kills on champions increase the damage by 4, 6, 8, 10, 12% and restore 10, 14, 18, 22, 28 (+4, 6, 8, 10, 12 per 2% of missing health) to him. The damage increase is capped at 40, 45, 50, 55, 60%.

Mana Cost: 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 (+2 per second toggled) Cooldown: 3 (at all ranks)

[R] - The One Soul: Markus embraces the Soul of the oldest Giant he has slain, empowering himself for the next 10 seconds. During this time, Markus' passive is on a 2 second cooldown and he takes 10, 30, 50% reduced damage from all sources except magic, pure, and true. This includes damage over time of the physical and magic damage variety. Should he die during this time, the strength of the Giant is transferred to the champion nearest to him when he died, granting them 10, 20, 30% increased damage and 20, 40, 60% increased armor for 60 seconds or until they die. If Markus gets the killing blow on the Champion, or the assist, as soon as he is alive again he will gain the effects of his ultimate for another 10 seconds.

Appearance: Markus wears the typical attire of the Giant Slayers: A white belted tunic with brown highlights, black trousers, and brown fingerless gloves. On the back of the tunic and his right glove is emblazoned the golden Giant Slayer's emblem; A flaming bow with an arrow knocked back. Sometimes the white hood attached to his tunic is up and other times it isn't; he likes to hide his shaggy brown hair from people. Upon entering the Rift, Markus' bow is strapped to his back, but as he is summoned he unsheathes the bow. On his back is the quiver with the singular arrow; it's the only arrow he needs, since Giant Slayers are trained to target the weakest spots on their targets to hit.


Final Notes

So as you can see I don't have any special dialogue interactions for him yet, or even really a skin idea. I'll probably be brainstorming these over the next few days and adding them in as I think of them. If anyone has an idea for a taunt, joke, or dance for Markus feel free to suggest it. That ult is an it strong, making his passive a .5 sec cd. Too short. Btw, he seems Q bit too similar to vayne, with the empowered autos, rolls, and ult that buffs him.

I like the idea a lot. However, I think your W is somewhat similar to Miss Fortune's E. But, anyways, I would totally play this champion. Also, we cannot complain about similar powers. I mean, Lux, Morgana, Zyra, and so on all share a rooting power. I include myself in this.

It seems like a pretty cool concept, but the Q seems toxic (cough fizz cough), and the ult seems downright broken with damage reduction and the passive cooldown. Especially if you add the E, that's a targeted perma-stun
