##[Ability Overview]

(Passive) - Pact of the Hunt: A percentage of the damage Thanos takes is stored as a resource called Blood Appetite. Thanos' autoattacks and one of his abilities restore a portion of his Blood Appetite, scaling with his total AD and a percentage of the damage he deals.

(Q) - Hounding Pursuit: Thanos leaps a targeted distance forward, dealing minor damage to enemies he encounters along his path of travel. Once reaching his target location, Thanos sweeps his sword around him in an arc. The direction of the swing dictates the effect it has.

(W) - Blood Frenzy: Passively, Thanos gains bursts of attack damage, movement speed, and attack speed whenever he is damaged for a certain portion of his maximum health or his Blood Appetite is filled entirely. When activated, Thanos gains a set increase to his damage output for the next several seconds. His autoattacks become a flurry that has its own attack speed and will scale in damage the longer he continues the assault.

(E) - Honorable Etiquette: A moderately large area appears around Thanos, blocking enemy and ally movement out of or into it for a few seconds. While standing in the area, Thanos takes reduced damage from enemies outside the circle and deals bonus damage to any enemies inside of it.

(R) - Pack Mentality: A Knight of the Wolf's Blood, similar in appearance to Thanos himself, is summoned after a short delay. It has health and attack damage that scale with rank, level, and a bit of Thanos's own. The Wolf Knight will follow Thanos and be controllable by ALT + Right Click, will automatically attempt to attack enemies, and will cast its own, weaker versions of Thanos' abilities. When it dies, Thanos gains bonus Blood Appetite stats for several seconds.

Lore

Thanos Arkane is a name that many, Noxian or not, would not know well...if at all. Throw it around in any normal setting and you'd be met with looks of question and uncertainty. Get lucky enough, and a bit of well-deserved fear would pop up in the mix as well. After all, the cultistic leader of the Order of the Blood of Wolves deserves at least a smidgen of notoriety.

Some say that Thanos has lived for centuries, others for a millennia. The older Noxians can recount terrifying stories of the Hunt, Thanos' twisted version of a societal purge of the weak, and all the precautions that the citizens of Noxus had to take to avoid being tracked down and killed like beasts. He would not stop there, however; often times, nobles who had stepped on the wrong toes were found dead, bodies made into a bloody warning: Do not trifle with the Order.

The reality is either more or less terrifying than you might think. In truth, Thanos Arkane did indeed found an ancient order of strange warriors who used their own special fighting style and etiquette, and this order did indeed partake of the blood of wolves as a ritual of admission. But that is where Thanos' direct involvement with the Order ends. Thanos himself stepped down as its leader and allowed another to take his place, disappearing into the unknown for over three decades and fading out of both memory and even legend.

Not wishing the notoriety of the Order of the Blood of Wolves to be diminished from its figurehead's departure, the newly appointed Patriarch took up Thanos' name in the stead of his own and drank deeply of the Wolf's Blood. What he failed to realize, however, was that the Wolf's Blood was not, in fact, the blood of a wolf at all, and never truly meant for consumption. In small doses, the Blood was mostly harmless and actually served to enhance whomever consumed it. In large doses, however...

The sanctuary that Thanos discovered and transformed into the "fortress" for his Order-to-be housed a number of old relics and creatures left after the Rune Wars. Thus the blood, a relic of some long-dead runic beast, entered the new Patriarch's body and tainted him to his core. Powerful magic clouded his mind and he devolved into a beast taken man's shape, sending his loyal Knights of the Wolves' Blood out to bring him back sanguine trophies and offerings. For several years, this Thanos Arkane impersonator wreaked havoc all across Valoran. His Knights killed anyone and everyone he ordered them to, and in time they too became corrupted by the Blood. It was Thanos' reward.

Thus the infamy of the Knights of the Blood of Wolves grew to new proportions, and their once-respected order of Knights became the scourge of Noxians. Now the real Thanos has returned to his homeland, expecting to see his Order a flourishing symbol of Noxian might and protection. Instead, he was met with the terror and bloodied corpses of those who dared stand in the way of the Knights. Rallying any who would follow behind his standard, the true standard of his Order, Thanos has set out to purge the corruption and retake his place as its Patriarch. And if that means giving in to his own dark urges? He'd do it in a heartbeat.

#Kit

[Passive] - Pact of the Wolf: 37.8 - 54.4% of the damage Thanos takes from enemies is converted into an orange bar that takes the place of his missing health in equal volume. It is known as Thanos' Blood Appetite. Striking enemies with autoattacks restores 8.5, 11, 13.5, 16 (+10, 12, 14, 16% of AD)(+30, 35, 40, 45% of damage dealt) health as long as there is Blood Appetite remaining. A maximum of 80, 150, 220, 290 (+15, 18, 21, 24% of max health) health can be stored as Blood Appetite; any excess is not added on. After 5 seconds of not receiving any damage from an enemy champion, Thanos' Blood Appetite rapidly decays.

Notes: Pact of the Wolf gives Thanos good sustain and trading capabilities early game...provided he's actually fighting. You won't be healing a lot in the earlier stages due to the lower total AD and damage dealing. But once Thanos hits late game, he'll be healing for extra since lifesteal doesn't affect how much health in Blood Apetite is restored; the two are cumulative as long as Thanos still has Appetite left.

[Q] - Hounding Pursuit: Thanos jumps to a target area (0-650) units from himself, dealing 20, 35, 50, 75, 90 (+25% of AD) physical damage to enemies he encounters. Once reaching the selected area, Thanos halts for 0.5 seconds before swinging his greatsword around his body either in front of or behind him, based on cursor position. Regardless of direction, the swing deals 50, 80, 110, 140, 170 (+60% of bonus AD) physical damage and either slows by 13, 20, 27, 34, 41% (if the strike was forwards) or knocks all enemies hit back 150 units (if the strike was backwards). Cooldown: 14, 12, 11, 10, 9 seconds Mana Cost: 50, 55, 60, 65, 70

Notes: Hounding Pursuit is Thanos' main form of trading early game. It's a selectable distance dash that allows Thanos to either slow the target he's hunting down or knock them away from their allies and into his team. Since the damage scales nicely, he also won't be slapping people with pillows. As a quick note: Forwards and backwards is determined by which way Thanos jumped (i.e. if you are Blue-side, and you jump towards Red-side, then Blue-side is backwards and Red-side is forwards).

[W] - Blood Frenzy: (Passive) If Thanos loses 12% of his maximum health over a 6 second period, or his Blood Appetite is filled to full capacity, then he gains 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 (+15% of bonus AD, not scaling with itself) bonus attack damage, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30% increased attack speed, and 8, 14, 20, 26, 32% bonus movement speed for the next 5 seconds. Killing an enemy champion refreshes the duration of Blood Frenzy's passive, or activates it. He cannot go into a Frenzy again for the next 15 seconds.

(Active) Thanos gains a 7, 14, 21, 28, 35% (+1% per 100 bonus AD) increase to his total damage output for the next 7 seconds. Additionally during that time, Thanos replaces his normal basic attacks with a constant flurry of attacks that have 0.7, 0.9, 1.1, 1.3, 1.5 (+30% of attack speed) set attack speed and will carry him forward by 50 units per strike if they can. Each hit deals 75% of Thanos' total attack damage, but every hit during this time increases the damage of subsequent hits on the same target by 5, 6, 7, 8, 9% (stacking up to 5 times) for 3 seconds. While Blood Frenzy is activated, its passive cannot trigger.

Cooldown: 18 seconds (at all ranks) Mana Cost: 60, 70, 80, 90, 100

Notes: Adding to Thanos' role as a Diver, Blood Frenzy gives Thanos good options to start and end fights. With its passive, Thanos can jump to an enemy's backline, eliminate a key target while he's still going strong, and then run out with the bonus movement speed active. With this ability activated, however, Thanos starts to go heavy-duty ham on whoever's closest to him to reap the benefits of lots of damage. Since every hit is also filling his Blood Appetite, Thanos should have an easy time winning trades with this ability.

[E] - Honorable Etiquette: After a 2.5 second delay, a circular area within 750 units of Thanos becomes Wolf's Territory. All but 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 other enemy and allied champion(s) are pushed out of the Territory and remain unable to enter, or conversely leave, for the next 4 seconds. If less than the maximum amount of targets was affected, then a number of enemies or allies (up to the allowed limit) may enter Wolf's Territory, but will be halted from leaving. All damage entering or passing through the Territory is reduced by 10, 17, 24, 31, 39%, not applying to any damage done inside the Territory. Honorable Etiquette can be reactivated to end the area prematurely.

Cooldown: 20, 19, 18, 17, 16 Mana Cost: 70, 75, 80, 85, 90

Notes: This ability relies on proximity to dictate who is pushed out of Wolf's Territory, so at max rank only the closest allied and enemy champions will be kept inside with Thanos. This allows Thanos to effectively jump into the backline of the enemy using Hounding Pursuit and single out a prime target with an ally, allowing for his team to pick up an easy kill. During the laning phase, this ability gives Thanos the option to keep his lane opponent within striking distance as he pummels them into bloody submission.

[R] - Pack Mentality: At a random location within 550 units of Thanos, a Knight of the Wolf's Blood will spawn. It has stats scaling with Thanos' own and the current rank of this ability, and they look like this:

Health: 250, 500, 750 (+20, 25, 30% of Thanos' max health) Armor: 20, 40, 60 (+30% of Thanos' armor) Magic Resist: -20, 0, 20 (+30% of Thanos' MR) Attack Damage: 35, 50, 65 (+45% of Thanos' bonus AD) Attack Speed: 0.65, 0.9, 1.15 (+0% of Thanos' attack speed) Movement Speed: (100% of Thanos' movement speed)

The Knight is controllable much like Tibbers or Ghosts with Alt+Right Click, but will automatically revert to following Thanos around and attacking any targets he does if it is not issued an order every 2 seconds. It shares a similar skill set to Thanos' own, just weaker. It has its own Blood Appetite, but is only 50% as effective at restoring it. It can cast a short-range version of Hounding Pursuit that instead briefly disrupts enemies it hits and deals 35, 45, 55% of the original damage. Instead of benefitting from an E and W ability, however, the Knight will gain bonus movement and attack speeds when inside the Wolf's Territory based on 50% of the benefit Thanos gets from Blood Frenzy's passive.

Notes: To clarify in a different manner: 50% of the additional stats Thanos receives from Blood Frenzy's passive are granted to the Knight IF it is inside Wolf's Territory. Did that clear it up for you? If the answer is no, then take it slower and read the ability again. It'll come eventually. This Knight is Thanos' best companion throughout the whole game, better than even an allied champion in many cases. Why? Because you can tell the Knight to do whatever you want and it will do it. For the purposes of Honorable Etiquette, the Wolf Knight is not treated as an allied champion, but it will take precedence in aggression should it attack an enemy champion underneath their tower.

Gameplay (WIP)

(To be added sometime once I decide how exactly you need to kill people as this guy. If you've read thus far, you might as well take into account that Black Cleaver and Titanic Hydra would probably be good itemization for Thanos)

Lore Notes

Thanos, though going into a sort of exile for several years and leaving Noxus during that time, is Noxian at heart. He believes in the core values that all Noxians do: You can get anywhere in life by being strong or talented enough. Thanks to his involvement in events prior to his self-inflicted exile, Thanos has had contact with several prime Noxian figures such as Darius, Swain, Katarina, and others. In no particular order and with brief summaries, here are all of the people Thanos knows and has had contact with throughout his life:

Darius: Once served with Darius in the Noxian army before creating the Knights of the Wolf's Blood. The two became rivals after Thanos "purged" one of the noble houses of Noxus, one that had contained a person close to the Hand of Noxus. Thanos has always denied Darius the opportunity for a fight.

Swain: The two have met in person, if only briefly. However, during Thanos' exile, his counterpart committed many horrible acts against the peoples of Noxus, earning Thanos a high spot on the Master Tactician's hit list. In Noxus, truth can only be measured in blood, and so Thanos slaughters all who are sent to kill him without hesitation.

Katarina: One of the many assassins sent to kill Thanos, Katarina barely escaped the Wolf's Stronghold (Thanos' fortress of sorts) with her life after attempting to kill the Patriarch. The Sinister Blade learned that day that it would take more than a simple dagger in the back to bring him down for good.

Talon: Another assassin sent to end Thanos for good, Talon was not so fortunate in his encounter with the Patriarch. The only thing that served to stay Thanos' blade was his recognition of Talon and the knowledge that he could send a more powerful message with a living, but thoroughly shocked, messenger. Thus, Talon was forced to sip of the Wolf's Blood and suffered the nightmares that accompany drinking it, but none of the other effects. It's a story he is lax to tell.

Ezreal: The Prodigal Explorer made the mistake of attempting to journey into the Wolf's Stronghold, which he assumed to be abandoned. The Knights of the Wolf's Blood promptly sent him packing.

Garen: The two met on a battlefield once, and would recognize the other if given the opportunity to fight. It's safe to say that they were an even match then, but who's to say about now?

Xin Zhao: Thanos once took part in the Fleshing, before he bit the throat of his guard and escaped certain demise. The Seneschal was witness to the event.

Kalista: Strange as it may seem, the Spirit of Vengeance has encountered Thanos before. Thanks to his betrayal of the Noxian High Command (a tale for another time) after their assistance to his cause, the blue lady decided to pay him a visit. She could not fight off his force of Knights and him together, though, and was forced into a tactical retreat.

Galio: Thanos knows of Galio, but never encountered the Guardian when he was raiding small villages in Demacia to keep himself stocked with supplies.

Noxus as a whole: Citizens of Noxus fear the Hunt, though Thanos himself does not endorse the barbaric activity and instead sticks to dealings with people as he deems fit. Willing to forgive most transgressions, Thanos has even gone so far as to send statements to the High Command saying he does not blame them for the assassination attempts, and rather asks them to cease lest he deplete Noxus' reserve of assassins altogether. However, drinking more deeply of the Wolf's Blood has left Thanos with a tainted mind and body, both of which become more and more corrupted with every passing year. It was necessary for him to defeat his doppelgänger, but the price of such power can only be measured by the strength of Thanos himself and time. His dealings with others have become less and less civilized over the years, though he clings desperately to his humanity. Perhaps in the end, that is all that will matter.

Final Notes

So there you have it! That's Thanos Arkane, Patriarch of the Wolf's Blood. I spent quite a bit of time working through his kinks and inventing new things for him, so I do dearly hope that someone out there appreciates the effort I put in...who isn't me :P

Anywho, feel free to drop me a comment with some critique, advice, ideas, really anything. You can even just drop in to say hi! I would like to know what's wrong with Thanos however, and if you could do so by taking the time to explain to me exactly what is wrong then I would greatly appreciate it. Here's to wishing you the best of luck in all your life endeavors! *glasses clink*

Health: 250, 500, 750 (+20, 25, 30% of Thanos' max health) Armor: 20, 40, 60 (+30% of Thanos' armor) Magic Resist: -20, 0, 20 (+30% of Thanos' MR) Attack Damage: 35, 50, 65 (+45% of Thanos' bonus AD) Attack Speed: 0.65, 0.9, 1.15 (+0% of Thanos' attack speed) Movement Speed: (100% of Thanos' movement speed)

The Knight is controllable much like Tibbers or Ghosts with Alt+Right

I'll preface this review saying that I'm a concept-maker who likes making support champions, not fighters, so you'll have to take any advice for numbers with a grain of salt. That being said, I'll try to give my thoughts on Thanos' kit in an orderly manner below:

  • First off is Thanos'** (Passive) Pact of the Wolf**. While the effect is fairly straightforward, there seems to some unnecessary scaling put into the ability. The '(+30/35/40/45% of damage dealt)' is weirdly worded IMO, and only makes it harder to adjust numbers all around for an otherwise easy-to-understand ability. If there's any lost power that Thanos needs, you can just put it into the total AD scaling instead.

  • The second part of **(Q) hounding Pursuit ** is fashioned strangely from a mechanical standpoint. Having it knockback/slow depending on the side of the field he is on adds an unnecessary burden of knowledge on both the player and his opponents, not to mention that it gates Thanos from using this effect when he dashes perpendicular to both sides. I recommend giving this ability a re-cast function (for 3 seconds after dashing), so that players can choose when to use the slash attack after the dash. Most players will choose to re-activate immediately after going all-in, but this function eliminates the awkward 0.5 second delay mechanic and gives a brief period for players to choose how to use their attack afterwards (without being forced into it). You could also make the ability slow the enemy if they are hit, but grant the knockback if they are close enough. This encourages Thanos to dive as close as possible to enemies in order to acquire the knockback effect, but still give him chase potential if he is too far.

  • I can't say much about (W) Blood Frenzy given its straightforward nature, but I'm also not too sold on the 'press W to win trade' feature that seems to be going on here. It's just a lot of power for very little trade-off, even if it's on a long cooldown. Not really interesting compared to the rest of his kit.

  • Thanos' **(E) Honorable Etiquette **is a good ability, but is plagued by weird mechanical choices. Its power is nonexistent at rank 1, but becomes as powerful as an ultimate by rank 5. This is due to the powerful pushback effect it has to isolate enemies, which really shouldn't have a scaling component at all. Just have it trap any allies/enemies within the vicinity regardless. To give players a choice in the ability's workings, you can have Thanos charge the ability up to increase its range (similar to how Varus/Xerath charge their Q's). This creates a delay that enemies can play around (without the arbitrary 2.5 second delay), and makes the skill more important at all stages of the game. Moreover, the range increase from charging allows for many different situations to occur, such as trapping enemies inside to prevent escape, or keeping enemies out from reaching any allies inside.

  • I'm not too sure if **(R) Pack Mentality **is a passive or active effect. It's fitting for Thanos, but you'll need to clarify this and develop more numbers (ex. cooldown, mana costs, etc.).

Overall, Thanos has a clear design and objective with a few interesting ideas. There's some awkward mechanics (like in his Q and E) that could use some work, but nothing too problematic from a structural perspective.
