Varus alternate mode and Q ability?
Varus. The first Champ I played after coming back to League after years. I instantly fell in love with him and used him a LOT. To say I have a soft spot for him is an understatement.
The new skin (Heartseeker Varus) is sort of...meh to me. It looks like cupid, and while that is ok it isn't exactly proving to Varus's badassness and sexiness, imo. Though I like the new skin it got me thinking on a previous idea that I've had.
Ranged characters are usually within range of Melee characters abilities, and in the midst of fights even their melee attacks. Rarely is range actually maintained.
With that out of the way here is my idea: Melee Varus
Think of it. They could add an activate to his passive W that adds a transformation to Varus giving him melee capabilities. His bow would turn into twin swords (Katana), twin daggers, or even one weapon that is like a twin blade (Think of Darth Maul, Elves from lord of the Rings, Dark Souls 2).
His abilities would change to melee abilities and he would gain melee like stats. I.e. Better Physical damage, higher Magic Resist and Armor resist, faster attack speed, higher and better health, increased movement speed, etc.
Here's what the abilities "Could" be.
[Q] Slicing Agony: Varus jumps to enemy champion and unleashes a flurry of slashes dealing both physical and magical damage. Applies on hit effects.
Attack damage: 20/30/50/70/100 Bonus Damage: Does bonus damage of 50% and 30% attack Speed
[W] Fluid Vengeance: Transforms Varus into Melee mode and gains bonus attack speed, damage, and movement speed for a few seconds. Still applies stacks of Blight. and follows all rules of Blighted Quiver.
Bonus Damage: 20/25/30/50/60% AD Movement Speed: 10/15/20/25/30% Attack Speed: 15/20/25/30/35% Duration: 2s/3s/4s/5s/6s
[E] Dancing Blades: Varus dashes to target and slices them a few times quickly, slowing and bleeding them for a duration.
Damage: 30/40/60/80/110 (+60% AD) Bleeding damage: 10/20/30/40/50% AD Slowed: 50% movement speed. Duration of slow and bleed: 5s
[R] Chain of Corruption: Same as Chain of Corruption for Ranged Varus. The difference being that Varus is pulled towards the first one hit and deals damage to them upon landing by hitting them with his blades.
Damage: 120/200/275 (+100% AD) True Damage: 20/25/30% AD
Thoughts? Suggestions? Should a Melee Varus exist? Should it be like I described above or should it be its own champion but still Varus?
Also, another thought. Ashe gets HUGE range (Albeit wit her Ult) and it got me thinking about Varus's Q. It slows him down and is normally used to deal with running foes or enemies beset by Blight for insane damage, but lately it seems like this is extremely horrid as the range for it is so small (Imo). It's a bow and he is drawing it back for power. It should have a MUCH larger range, and imo should also give a larger line of sight for Varus. Possibly zooming the camera farther out and increasing the range by 50% as well as increasing the shot speed. I always find that releasing the arrow to a retreating foe only for them to exit the field of effect before it hits which can be quite annoying, and with the already slowed movement Varus can't move enough to catch up. Thoughts on this?
