Could an assassin support ever be a thing?

Looking for a red post response here.

Has Rito ever considered making an assassin support? A character who can feed the gold from kills to a chosen friendly champion but still take the kill themselves? Like Zed but they could give the kill gold to their chosen ADC/other character.

So like imagine Tarics bind to ally tool, but it gives kill gold rewards to the ADC (not sure if it should give them an actual "kill" on their K/D/A but still) But with an assassin kit like Zed.

Because I want to hear the opinions of others here I'll put up a little poll thing: And you should share why you think this idea is good or bad.

The concept of giving your kill gold to a selected ally is a must in this scenario, but in the end I don't think it would be viable in most cases.

Here's why:

  1. Damage is required to be an effective assassin.

  2. Damage must come in the form of items, lest we find ourselves in a bad spot where said champion has incredibly high base stats and is played in other roles and still gets said damage items.

  3. Items cost gold. If you're giving your kill gold to an ally, you get little gold for said items. This is the catch.

A workaround could be a passive similar to Cassiopeia's where you can purchase only 1-2 items that give AD or AP and get double the effect, but that severely limits your ability to buy even some utility items. If I want an Athene's and/or Frost Queen's (if I'm AP), then I have no options left for real damage.

What this would then turn into is a tanky assassin, and we ALL know that the meta needs another one of those.... /sarcasm.

I played Yasuo support when he was considered weak. Maxed Q first, then W while setting 2 points into your E.

Won the lane, lost the game. Why? Because he lacks reliable CC (which would be the problem for any assassin). If you create an assassin with CC then this assassin would be played mid and would never see play as support.

It is impossible to completly mix support and assassin as they have opposite roles on the team. That said you could create champions that have aspects of those roles (like the assassins high mobility mixed with a supports Utility [think: Bard]).

In my opinion an assassin support wouldnt need to worry about kills. Instead they would focus hard on the slows and instead of focusing on killing the enemy would focus on injuring them enough for the adc to move in.

^ thats my idea of a support assassin. Heavy hit and run tactics to disoriented the enemy, but not go far enough to fully kill them on her own. She can hold her own, yes. But her whole kit revolves around bringing down the enemy with careful planning and precision while helping the team get the kills.
