[Kit Suggestion] Ao Shin - The Storm Dragon - Duality

With the not so recent announcements that Ao Shin will be delayed until 2016 at least, I have decided to make a kit for him, possibly giving idea, and in general parcticing my creativity.

Any comments would be great!

Ao Shin in this iteration is a fragile ranged mage / support. Note he has 6 points on his abilities, and none on his ultimate. His ultimate is used to switch between "Good" and "Evil".

Passive: The Quiet Between the Storms While out of combat, Ao Shin calls the power of the wind, gaining movement speed.

  • Movement speed bonus: 12%/14%/16%
  • Scales at levels 1/7/13.

Q: Empowering Storm / Staccato Lightning

Good: Empowering Storm Cast 3 storm coulds in a line. The storm empowers allies, amplifying their damage. Additionally, their next basic attack or spell cast will stun the first enemy hit by 0.5 seconds.

  • Vector targeting.
  • Lengh: 300/350/400/450/500/550 units.
  • Width: 50 units.
  • Can only affect the same ally once per cast.
  • Stun duration: 0.5 seconds.
  • Damage amplification: 5%/6%/7%/8%/9%/10%
  • Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9/8 Seconds.
  • Shared cooldown with Staccato Lightning.

Evil: Staccato Lightning Cast 3 lightning strikes at an area to the direction of your choise, damaging enemies. Multiple lightning strikes hitting the same enemy will deal bonus damage and stun the target.

  • Vector targeting (lengh is flexible)
  • AoE Diameter: 200 (100 Radius).
  • Maximum lengh: 525 (overlapping by 25 units)
  • Minimum lengh: 0 (Right on top of each other)
  • Damage: 80/100/140/160/180/200 + (0.5 AP)
  • Damage per additional hit: 12/24/36/48/60/69 + (0.15 AP)
  • Maximum Damage (3 consecutive hits): 104/148/202/300/368 + (0.8 AP)
  • Delay between strikes: 0.25 seconds.
  • Stun duration: 0.5 seconds. Can stack to increase stun duration to a total of 1.0 seconds.
  • Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9/8 seconds.
  • Shared cooldown with Empowering Storm.

W: Typhoon / Crippling Storm

Good: Typhoon Cause a storm to errupt at a target location. Allies passing through the typhoon have increased movement speed. Recast the ability to move the storm to a target location (the storm moves in that direction for the duration of the ability).

  • Diameter: 400 units (200 Radius).
  • Movement speed boost: 10%/12%/14%/16%/18%/20%
  • Reactivate to move to current cursor location (if active).
  • Movement of storm after reactivation: 200 units per second.
  • Cooldown: 21/20/19/18/17/16 seconds.
  • Cooldown starts after cast.
  • Shared cooldown with Crippling Storm.

Evil: Crippling Storm Cause a storm to errupt at target location, dealing damage to enemies. The storm destroys the ground for the duration, creating a slowing field for the duration. Staying longer in the field increases the effectiveness of the slow. Recast the ability to move the storm to a target location (the storm moves in that direction for the duration of the ability).

  • Damage: 10/17.5/25/32.5/40/47.5 + (0.1 AP) Per Second.
  • Reactivate to move to current cursor location (if active).
  • Movement of storm after reactivation: 200 units per second.
  • Maximum Damage: 40/70/100/130/160/190 + (0.4 AP).
  • Scaling slow: 10% - 50%
  • Diameter: 400 units (200 Radius).
  • Cooldown: 21/20/19/18/17/16 seconds.
  • Cooldown starts after cast.
  • Shared cooldown with Typhoon.

E: Storm Shield / Lightning Breath

Good: Storm Shield Cast a shield on an ally. Half ot the Damage dealt to the shield will be healed when the shield expires after 4 seconds, or breaks.

  • Shield amount: 80/110/140/170/200/230 + (0.4 AP).
  • Maximum Heal ammount: 25/40/55/70/85/100/115 + (0.2 AP).
  • Shield duration: 4 seconds.
  • Range: 650 units.
  • Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9/8 seconds.
  • Shared cooldown with Lightning breath.

Evil: Lightning Breath Fire a breath of lightning in a line, during the ability you can move freely but you are slowed, facing the cast direction. Cast again to cancel early.

  • Channeled ability.
  • Damage: 25/37/49/61/73/85 + (0.15 AP) per second.
  • Duration: 4 Seconds.
  • Maximum Damage: 100/148/196/244/292/340 + (0.6 AP).
  • Ao Shin will face the direction of the cast for the full duration.
  • Disables will interrupt the ability.
  • Range: 850 units.
  • Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9/8 seconds.
  • Cooldown starts when the ability finishes / deactivation / interruption.
  • Shared cooldown with Storm Shield.

R: Duality Ao Shin switches between Good and Evil, changing his abilities. As Good, Ao Shin's abilities help his teammates. As Evil, Ao Shin's abilities hurt his enemies.

  • Cooldown: 1.5 seconds.
  • Ao Shin has no points to spend on his ultimate. All of his other abilities have 6 ranks.

Hello, my name is Nesmith and I'm a professional Champion Concept Designer. I have literally made dozens of concepts myself, and know how to balance many things according. Feel free to completely disregard this comment if you wish, however I highly suggest you look into it.

Abilities

Passive: The Quiet Between the Storms While out of combat, Ao Shin ascends, gaining movement speed.

Movement speed bonus: 15/20/25. Scales at levels 1/7/13.

This seems way to weak, to be honest. I like the concept of "The Quiet Between The Storms," but it needs to be much stronger. I'd honestly like to change a lot about it, mostly including when it occurs, but also what occurs.

Looking into the name "The Quiet Between The Storms," you can use keyword "Storms" as an identifier of Ao Shin. I could assume, regarding the fact that his abilities revolve around lightning and storms, that he gains the movement speed after an abilities cast/end effect. I also suggest for the movement speed that it be far increased by a lot, as well as adding a --%. In addition, it should be decaying as it may be too powerful being flat.

I'll skip to the ultimate real quick.

R: Duality Ao Shin switches between Good and Evil, changing his abilities. As Good, Ao Shin's abilities help his teammates. As Evil, Ao Shin's abilities hurt his enemies.

Cooldown: 1.5 seconds. Ao Shin has no points to spend on his ultimate. All of his other abilities have 6 ranks.

Interesting ability concept, but it doesn't suit Ao Shin at all. For one, looking at Ao Shin in images, it appears he is a straight mage using lightning to his advantage. Therefore, alternating between "Good" and "Bad" makes no sense at all. If you want my advice, give this guy a kick-ass ultimate like all mages should. I'll let you theorize the ability, but for now set the whole "Good" and "Bad" thing aside for another champion, as it doesn't truly fit in with a lightning-wind-dragon-chinese-beast-thing-y.

If you decide not to do any of this, give it some thematics such as benefits within each stance. But in the long run, I HIGHLY suggest you change his ult to something more thematically attuning.

Q: Empowering storm / Staccato Lightning

Good: Empowering Storm Cast 3 storm clouds at an area. Allies passing through the rain and lightning will stun briefly the first enemy champion hit by an auto attack or spell cast, and deal an additional 4% damage for 3 seconds.

Vector targeting. Lengh: 300/350/400/450/500/550 units. Width: 50 units. Can only affect the same ally once per cast. Stun duration: 0.5 seconds. Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9/8 Seconds. Shared cooldown with Staccato Lightning. Evil: Staccato Lightning Cast 3 consecutive lightnings in a line. Every additonal hit by the same spell cast will deal additional damage and stun briefly.

Vector targeting (lengh is flexible) AoE Diameter: 300 Maximum lengh: 850 (overlapping by 25 units) Minimum lengh: 0 (Right on top of each other) Damage: 80/100/140/160/180/200 + (0.5 AP) Damage per additional hit: 12/24/36/48/60/69 + (0.15 AP) Maximum Damage (3 consecutive hits): 104/148/202/300/368 + (0.8 AP) Delay between strikes: 0.25 seconds. From now on, I'll be considering your abilities as two parts, and allow you to choose which seems better according to the ultimate change, if you believe it is proper.

Good - Sounds really cool, honestly. I have a few questions about it however, mostly regarding its layout. When you say "3 storm clouds at an area," are the clouds positioned like the vertices of a triangle, or are they in a line? This can determine a lot about it. You should also clarify if Ao Shin can use it himself. In addition to that, define "Vector targeting" for me, as I've done this professional for ages and I still don't understand what you mean. Also, remove the length-increasing-by-rank and replace it with damage-%-by-rank, as 4% damage is nothing in League of Legends, especially late game. Overall an interesting ability, though.

Evil - Can Ao Shin move while these are casting, and if so, do they cast from his location or the cast location? In addition to that, I'd like to talk about viability - despite it being a one second stun, it hits everything in it's path (correct me if I'm wrong) within a 300-unit radius, the size of Lux's Lucent Singularity. Also, please do numbers before you do this: maximum length is unnecessary, along with minimum length, as length alone is all that's needed. One more thing: reduce the additional damage as that is literally saying, "take some burst, then take another dose of it with a bit of spice, then take another dose of that with some steroids to go with it," all while being stunned. Cool concept, but too strong.

W: Flash Storm / Crippling Storm

Good: Flash Storm Cause a storm to errupt centering Ao Shin with great range. Allies in the storm gain movement speed (including Ao Shin).

Range: 1200 units (same as vision range). Movement speed boost: 7%/8%/9%/10%/11%/12% Duration: 4 Seconds. Cooldown: 21/20/19/18/17/16 seconds. Cooldown starts after cast. Shared cooldown with Crippling Storm. Evil: Crippling Storm Cause a storm to errupt at target location, lightning strikes fall from the skies, damaging enemies. The wind and lightning destry the ground for the duration, causing enemies to move slower as the storm continues.

Damage: 10/17.5/25/32.5/40/47.5 + (0.1 AP) Per Second. Reactivate to move to current cursor location (if active). Maximum Damage: 40/70/100/130/160/190 + (0.4 AP). Minimum Slow: 10%. Maximum slow: 50%. Diameter: 400 units. Slow intensity resets when the storm is relocated. Previously affected terrain after relocation continues to slow. Cooldown: 21/20/19/18/17/16 seconds. Cooldown starts after cast. Shared cooldown with Flash Storm.

Good - That radius is downright massive, but despite it being large, isn't really all that effective. I suggest you allow him to cast it at a target location with reduced range but incredibly more effectiveness. Also, clarify if it has a cast delay.

Evil - Again with the maximum damage thing - should be removed. Damage and movement speed alone are all that's necessary (you could say "Slow 10-50% over -- seconds.") In addition to that, why can you move it's location? That just doesn't make much sense. Granted that clouds and storms move, but they don't friggin' teleport. Remove the reactivation and simply increase the slow. Damage seems on the weak side, increase it's damage, but not too much.

E: Storm Shield / Lightning Breath

Good: Storm Shield Shield an ally. 50% of the damage taken during the shield is healed in 4 seconds after the shield expires or breaks.

Good - How is this thematically correct? Nevermind, Janna's proof it isn't. Anyways... I like the concept of the shield, but I don't understand why it heals allies. Just... how... and why... but... ugh. Give's me the willies. I suggest that it juts be a shield, and that it applies some kind of bonus to Ao Shin or the ally or something.

Evil - So an AoE Culling? Seems kind of OP for a normal ability if you ask me. The damage seems fine, but it seems like it's too far fetched in terms of it's format. It fits relatively well with the lightning theme, as well as the dragon appearance, but it doesn't make sense that it's constant in one direction, as that's already existing (cough*Lucian.) Not much I can suggest here other than make it instantaneous or something like that.

I can see that you made him a support, and with a different thematic to him, this kit wouldn't be too half bad, if it had some tweaks to go along with it. However, looking at Ao Shin, he's this big, badass dragon dude who looks like lightning definitely appeals well to him, so I believe this kit belongs to another champion.

As for the relativity to his appearance, you did a nice job. His abilities seems close to his appearance, however the biggest thing I have to suggest is that you change his ult. Truly, and honestly, the ultimate bugs the hell out of me. I'm sorry If I offend you, but how the hell does a big, badass dragon dude be both good and evil when he assaulted Spirt Guard Udyr at his temple place thing? Doesn't really make sense to me.

TL;DR - change the ult to something realistic rather than a stance, and alter his abilities and passive accordingly.

Good job, you actually did really well with designed a kit. None of the abilities are too similar to other champions in the League, except for one (Lucian), and all of them make some good sense, with a few wording changes. I also suggest that you fix the vocabulary and forms of explanation before you send it out - grammar is actually important at times.

I don't think this will matter overly-much. I'm sure Ao Shin already has a general kit thought up.

And I'm curious as to why you decided to make him have a good/evil theme.

Change his passive to something like this

"Cloud Domain:

After being out of combat for x seconds, Ao Shin flies into the clouds, gaining increased vision, and the ability to see over walls, Ao Shin is still targetable during this state."

Dude, this champion is amazing. I love supports and I love the duality theme. I tried to make a champion once that was based around light and dark and had a weird ass mana-like resource that was two sided: One for using light, and one for using dark. So when you ran out of light, you could switch over to dark with R and have a full bar.

Really neat idea, +support.

If you would not mind helping me out with specific stats such as damage, mana costs, ranges, etc. I have a champion that I really only laid out the cooldowns as a base frame. If you have the time, that would be awesome.

The passive is to similar to Janna`s passive but only much weaker. The other abilities are good, but it somehow lacks for a unique mechanic.
