Use Honor in the new Hextech Crafting System (Ideas Below...)
Honor was introduced over 3 years ago and to this day nothing has been done with it. Barely anyone remembers it exists, there is no reward for accumulating points except the Ribbons and they themselves are so rare that I haven't come across a player that has one in nearly 2 months. Hextech Crafting seems to be a perfect way to make the Honor system worth something.
My suggestion? Whenever you are Honored by a fellow player, you get a Gem based on whichever type of Honor you received. Friendly - Yellow Gem Helpful - Blue Gem Teamwork - Green Gem Honorable Opponent - Red Gem (recolor the Rare Gem to, idk Silver or something)
Each of these Gems are "Materials" that can be disenchanted for small amounts of Champion and Cosmetic Essence. However, very rarely (5%) these Gems will instead contain 1 Champion Shard or Cosmetic Shard. This Shard's properties will be based on the attributes of the player who gave you the original Gem. -If it's a Champion Shard, the Champion will be one that that Player had high Mastery on. -If it's a Skin Shard, then it will be a Skin that that Player owned (if that player owned none then it is randomized). -If it's a Ward Skin, then it will be a Ward Skin that that Player owned (if that player owned none then it is randomized).
Ribbons I feel should also be reworked as to how they are rewarded. Probably something along the lines of how many of each type of Gem a player has earned. Earn enough of a certain combination of types and you get one of the 4 Ribbons.
I feel like this change will really incentivize people to use Honor as a way of thanking other players. This way, good behavior is physically being rewarded as something other than a number. Plus, limitations to how much Honor that can be earned per unique account can be put in place if abuse of the system becomes a possibility.
