Support item concept

A common problem with support items is that if they're too strong, they get stolen, then nerfed, yet itemization is a common complaint about the position. I thought about this, and came up with a solution.

Supports need their own version of the hunter's machete and that other...thingy (posting on phone ). It starts as kinda ok, grows into something really good, but no one else wants it. We cant lock it to exhaust because othere spots take exhaust, aND not all sup ports do. How do we get there? Easy.

Tie it inversely to the user's creep score. Imagine a sightstone with 6 ward charges that permanently loses one for each 50 cs. Or getting 100 ap minus your cs. Even the support might dump them in a long game, but it could keep their power up in a way no one else could.

Thoughts?

I agree that some sort of forcible balance should be given, but I think it should be tied to a new mastery that only makes sense for supports. (For instance, reducing damage to minions but increasing gold per second. Then, since Relic Shield is an execute, there isn't really a big problem. However, the major thing I would do is reduce the gold cost of the item and special support sub-items based on running this mastery.

Of course, other variations could exist, but I think it should be something external that generally reduces the strength of laning phase for a frequent CSer.

For the MYMU they are experimenting with tying mana pool to mages and mana regen to supports. If that works they'll be able to better balance the items appropriately.

no thanks, on a support i would take relic shield on, that would just be hellish.
