[Champion Concept] Silas, the Split Soul

Let me preface this by saying two things; I apologize in advance if someone else has come up with a similar concept, as I haven't really lurked here much in the past, and this is my first champion concept that I've posted to the boards.

#Silas, the Split Soul

Lore

As a young Zaunite, your life doesn't mean much. The voice of children often get lost in the clamor of progress, and if you are not taken care of you could become an unwitting test subject. Silas was one of the unfortunate few who were not lost in the background. An unremarkable boy with no parents. Not too unhealthy, but not too strong, and willing to do almost anything for his next meal. A perfect lab rat.

He didn't care what the scientist's name was, insofar as it rang no alarm bells. Despite it's reputation, most Zaunite science ends up as nothing more than a harmless endeavor to make money. Being a test subject was easy money for a homeless boy like him. Worst case, something starts to go wrong and he legs it out of there fast as the wind can carry him. These were his thoughts going in to the brick building hiding a nameless lab; nestled between nameless homes on a nameless street.

The lab itself was not what he expected. It was clean to the point of being professional. Off to the sides were workbenches and boards filled to the brim with equations. In the center of the room was what looked almost like a ceremonial altar, if technology could be raised to the status of a religion. Wires and tubing encapsulating a metal case about waist height of an adult. The top an open ring of steel, electrical innards barely hidden by steel skin. Looking around at all this curiously but knowing not to touch, Silas waited for instruction.

Go have a look. These four words, so easily replaced - a veil for his future. Surely there had to be more to the test than that? Despite the slight twinge of apprehension Silas stepped forward and looked into the ring.

Peer into the Void.

He had no time to scream. Ripped and torn, his body and soul shredded and scattered into the void. Eternal pain, eternal hunger. Nowhere is safe, the Void is death. The Void is prison. Death is the only escape. Surrender to it, let it devour-

The pain has stopped. Where are we? We...? I am only one - We are many. I am Silas - We are Silas. This body is not mine - Age has caught up with us. Leave me - We are you. Get out - We are you. Get out! We are you. GET OUT! Your will is ours.

With a sensation that can only be described as a rip, he was suddenly staring at himself. Brown hair, unmarred skin, body full grown; but the eyes. The purple eyes aglow with an eerie incandescence. That isn't me. We are you. The words echoed in his head as he sat there. Time passed with agonizing slowness as the words repeated over and over in his head. We are you. We are Silas. We are You. We are Silas. We are you. We are Silas.

With the slightest of smiles, the other him walked back to him - into him - and was gone. The world is ours, we only need take it.

Appearance

Silas, for all intents and purposes, appears normal. He isn't wearing massive armor, he's got no huge weapon, he isn't 300 pounds of sheer muscle. He's just an ordinary man with an unusual soul. He attacks with his soul's energy, so he doesn't carry a weapon. He doesn't much care what he wears, beyond the fact that his clothes keep him warm. His clothes have gone to tatters as a result, in a manner usual of the wear and tear of being homeless.

His attacks and abilities that utilize his soul should be an indigo color, resulting from the standard blue used for non-Shadow Isles souls and a purple tinge from his time scattered in the Void.

Abilities & Role

Silas is a teamfight focused melee bruiser mage, although he could likely be built as an assassin with little escape potential. The numbers you will see are really just shots in the dark based one things I've seen in game, as this is the first time I will have gone into it.

Passive - Assimilate Every death Silas participates in allows him to siphon a portion of the target's soul into his own. When Silas has siphoned 30 souls, he is healed for 10/15/20% of his maximum health and mana. Minions are worth 1 soul. Large Monsters are worth 3 souls. Champions and Epic Monsters are worth 10.

The idea here is to give Silas a small form of burst sustain. In lane it will happen very rarely. In the jungle it will happen more often, but not enough to make his early clear particularly safe. He can prepare it before teamfights so that the first death heals him and allows him to stay in the fight longer, but unless his team is winning the fight his sustain isn't going to carry them to victory. Gathering souls from Epic Monsters provides incentive to be a part of objective battles and go for that steal. The heal splits evenly between vessels if he is ult'd.

Q - Fragment

Cooldown 9/8/7/6/5 seconds. Cost 30/40/50/60/70 mana.

Silas sends out a wave of energy 700 units, striking at the target's soul and causing it to fragment. The wave passes through enemies, stopping at the first Champion hit, dealing 70/90/110/130/150(+35% AP) and stunning for .5 seconds.

Nothing special here folks, just a low damage ability that can be used to poke somewhat safely. The range is just barely larger than the largest autoattack range, but the cooldown and damage don't make it a reliable counter to said range. When cast while ult'd, his vessels send a targeted version at their target.

W - Soul Scatter

Cooldown 15/13/11/9/7 seconds. Cost 50/60/70/80/90 mana.

Silas scatters his fragmented soul, seeking out the nearest enemy unit within 600 units and coalescing in it before being forcibly evicted, dealing 50/80/110/140/170(+60% AP) and teleporting behind that unit. Prioritizes champions.

This is meant to be his main initiation tool. There is no untargetability or damage reduction on this ability even though it might fit thematically both because of how his ultimate functions and because of how annoying it is to play against. If he's being chased this cannot be used as an escape, assuming the enemy is near, due to the champion prioritization.

E - Empower/Enfeeble

Cooldown - 18/16/14/12/10 Cost - 70 mana.

Silas sends fragments of his soul into a nearby ally or enemy Champion (600 Range), bolstering or debilitating them, respectively. If sent into a nearby ally, their damage is increased by 5/10/15/20/25% for their next ability used. If sent into an enemy, their damage is reduced by 5/10/15/20/25% for their next ability or autoattack. When self cast, the ability targets allies; when cast normally it targets enemies. Each target may only be affected once per cast.

You may question why he can't amp his own damage. Self damage amps are for assassins almost exclusively, and I don't particularly want him to have another way of multiplying his own damage after he ults. His ability only lasts for one ability on allies, meaning he can't tread on Sona's toes with her Q. On enemies it works for either an ability or autoattack, giving enemy mages a chance to burn it on an autoattack instead of wasting it on an ability. Not too worried about it being too much of a hit to adcs or bruisers, since they usually auto fairly quickly.

R - Split Soul

Cooldown - 100/85/70 seconds. Cost - 20% current health.

For the next 20 seconds, Silas may split his soul into up to 4 extra vessels, sending them to attack a target Champion. The vessels will mirror is ability uses, but otherwise cannot be controlled. Each vessel is weakened, sharing only a portion of Silas' power; but together their strength is greater than his own. While split, Silas does a total of 110/120/130% damage split evenly among the vessels. The vessels have an amount of health equal to what was spent to create them. Their other stats are equal to his own. If the main Silas dies he may choose a living vessel to move to. At the end of the spell's duration all vessels return to Silas, restoring their remaining health to him. If no more living vessels remain, he dies. His vessels count as Champions for the purpose of abilities.

Silas has two main choices with this ability. He can either focus his vessels onto one target and burn them quickly, or he can split them among a teamfight to wreak havoc. Each of his vessels copies his ability usage, meaning he can potentially get off a teamwide microstun/damage reduction/damage amp to turn the fight in his team's favor. Once used, he cannot prematurely return his soul to it's body - so he has to commit to a fight.

Quotes

Upon Selection:

  • We are Silas.

Attacking:

  • Souls for us.
  • So hungry...
  • A vessel to be emptied.
  • Our new soul awaits.
  • Peer into our Void.

Movement:

  • I scatter to the wind.
  • In search of vessels.
  • We go.
  • Our wish, our command.
  • Where we please.

Joke:

  • All these souls and I've never had red hair.
  • I should open a shoe store.

Taunt:

  • Soon you will be Silas.
  • Your soul will survive; your vessel will rot.

And that's that for Silas. As I said at the start, I'm new to this, so suggestions on anything from balance to formatting are appreciated.

Hi there! For a first champion concept, I actually kind of like this. I've designed champions for a while, and this is a LOT better than my first champion. And finally you're not one of those people who tries to go overboard and tries to be unique by making an Elise/Gnar/Jayce/et.c kind of champion. It's just a simple and strightforward kits, and I like those the best, which is why Ahri is my favorite champion.

Static: I see what you're trying to do here, but the way you gain stacks is kind of complicated. :( There has to be a way to dumb it down, but still have you gain the benefits of the passive at the same rate as you have it there.

Q: Nothing further. A completely normal ability to have. :)

W: This ability sounds very unreliable, but maybe that's a good thing, especially since mobility is so highly detested in League of Legends.

E: This is my favorite ability in his kit. His W/Passive make him more of an initiator bruiser while this and his Q make him also a utility bruiser. However, that buff/debuff is too low. Increase it! :D

R: Ok, this is where I get a little confused. I think the fact that it costs health is pretty fitting since he divides himself apart, though he still gains health at the end of the ability. I have two concerns: A. 'If the main Silas dies he may choose a living vessel to move to'I think this is a bit too OP haha. Though instead of removing it like I would normally ask someone to do, maybe you should only limit him to be able to do this once, unless that was your original intention, then what I'm saying here is completely useless. B. How would he copy his abilities xD. So for his Q, would it be like Zed using his Q with his shadow? For his W, would both he and his clones teleport to the same target? I have no clue how his E would work. xD You should include how it ties in with his other abilities.

So @Tasgal, I want to ask you something privately. It has to do with champion designing, and I really would appreciate it if you did it. If you wouldn't mind, could you e-mail me at [email protected]?
