if we're getting an item that is a spellshield we should get one that makes your next attack do pure damage which would break through the shield, i feel like this is needed because it's not fair that Sivir can block a Jinx ult with her E which costs no mana
of course karthus would greatly benefit from this, being that the new item is essentially gutting karthus

I don't really feel like the item you're suggesting would be a good fix though. I think they should just give the new item a proper cooldown. 45 seconds is good, but I feel like 60 - 75 seconds would be more appropriate.

I think it's just because it's one of the flashier item actives, despite QSS and hexdrinker and such oftentimes being far more effective.

I like the uniqueness of zhonyas but we don't need more of the items to keep denying ultimates

Slow and squishy is per the norm for a good number of damage-focused Mages, including my main, Vel'Koz. The ability to deal damage to the whole team that can only be mitigated with a shield or ability that renders one untargetable makes things decidedly un-fun for the enemy team, in particular for those playing champs for whom this damage is ultimately unavoidable, regardless of what champion it is affixed to. Adding an item that grants a spell shield for protection against such abilities makes said ability less of a middle finger to players, but in turn adds a bit more depth to strategy when using both karthus' ult and the shield in turn. Now Karthus players can choose whether to use their ult to force the enemy to blow their defenses specifically to avoid damage from that ability in particular, or perhaps to wait and watch for when these defenses are used up and nothing then remains between them and unavoidable damage.
Leo10241 votesyou don't know yet though, velkoz is super easy, i own him and dislike his easiness as a champion, it got boring for me, karthus has little to no cc like traditional mages, lux has a root and slow, lissandra has her E to get away and he W roots, but karthus has a slowing wall which means little to nothing since you'll either get hit by cc turning to cast it, or get dashed at by ad mid laners

That's how it's worked for champs that already have their own shields, and most of them have shorter cooldowns than this item is going to have. And I'm pretty sure that Karthus has enough AOE that he could just use Rylai's Crystal Scepter if his lack of innate AOE proves sufficiently troublesome.
Can't guarantee if it'll solve your Yasuo problem though. Yasuo just makes it a pain for everyone he faces in laning phase, especially in mid-lane.

Actually, I take that back. You want the old Deathfire Grasp, before Riot removed it because IT WAS BUSTED. Except this one will deal not magic, not true, but PURE damage to a champion. Do you realize what you're saying? Fountain damage is Pure damage. Fountain damage literally ignores everything and just goes straight to your health. AND it goes past passives like GA and Zilean ult. You literally cannot counter fountain damage. You can counter spell shields; just do damage that isn't magic. Besides, this new item most likely won't fit onto the build paths of many champions, making it a super situational item to build against specifically Karthus. He's not even played that much as of now.
And you're implying that Sivir's E is unfair? It's a 20-odd second cooldown shield that blocks the effects of ONE ability and gives Sivir some mana back. The shield doesn't even last for super long periods of time, and you have to time it. If having a shield that just blocks an ability is what you consider busted, then take a look at Banshee's Veil. It does the same thing, and gives some great stats like Health and MR.

aye im a nautalis main cc is my thing sivers shield is not a problem because if she is down to that she is probably going to die seeing as she has no escape other than her ult which she probably already used to engage zhonyas is also while annoying pretty crappy when you think about it 2 seconds of being invulnerable and being able to do nothing unless you are lisandra or fiddlesticks and dont get me started of fracking dfg i remember a game where i had four k health and died in two seconds to an ahri with dfg yea dont bring that back please
