Which is why she has an ability to get right in your face

I just love how that Rioter is just nonchalantly making shit up to justify their horrible broken mess of a rework. Why even stop with Leblanc. Khazix isn't broken, he's just a kill mage. Rengar isn't broken, he's just a win mage. Katarina isn't broken, she's just a damage mage.

yes... kiting doesn't just mean escaping

DrCyanide38 votes

No, kiteing means trying to stay a fixed distance from the target, moving, and firing off multiple attacks.

Cass kites you with her Twin Fangs.

Ahri kites you with Fox Fire and her ult, never needing to get closer than their lock on range.

Evelyn kites with hate spikes.

Karthus can kite, moving with the target and firing Q's

Aurelian Sol is built to kite with his passive.

LeBlanc doesn't have a kiteing bone in her kit. She has ranged auto attacks, but that's it. Orianna would make a better "kite mage" than LeBlanc because at least Orianna has her passive to make those auto attacks stronger.

ScissorsNstuff3 votes

You must pick up your kite to get it started.

Btw leblanc doesn't have an ability specifically for getting in your face and said ability actually has better range than ppl think

DrCyanide18 votes

Btw leblanc doesn't have an ability specifically for getting in your face

That's like saying Sejani or Vi don't have an ability specifically for getting in your face. Yeah, you can technically go anywhere you want with their dashes, but they're designed to go at an enemy.

ScissorsNstuff3 votes

sej and vi are melee and probably wont kill you without landing their gapcloser skillshot

leblanc doesn't need to jump on top of you. That's like saying that tristana's jump is meant to land on top of the opponents.. it really isn't necessary at all to jump on top of them. That's just something noob tristana's do reflexively

Faceroll Tactics2 votes

But her W has high damage unlike Tristana and procs her passive, it's suppossed to be used to hit someone

DrCyanide9 votes

If LeBlanc's W scaled with AD I'd conseed that Tristana is a fair comparison. But as it stands both dashes scale with AP, and LeBlanc's dash scales harder than LeBlanc's Q.

You don't have to use it for damage

especially as the game goes on

here's a faker demonstration of how proper leblanc kiting should look. Technically the better phrase would probably be "juke" mage though but rioters are not "hip" like at all.

so is faker apparently. He often uses his gapcloser for something other than damage.

That is not what kiting means. Kiting has been around since long before LoL. Kiting is just the ability to strong arm your opponent from getting in their range of influence. For example, being 700 units from a jax and leaping towards him to 400 to land a chain and then backing away when he goes towards you, is still kiting.

So if I can melee you in one move and then go back really fast, that isn't kiting? Think of a WW going in with Q and then going out with that Q not targeting anything. I can consider that kiting. It's kiting because you are harder to hit, just like when an ADC kites. Kiting shouldn't just apply to range attacks.

Orianna is a kite mage + womboer, her entire kite revolves around kiting with Q+W as she runs away.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

It's pretty much mandatory to kite around as (a good) orianna for full dmg potential in lane and getting the least dmg as possible.

DrCyanide8 votes

What kills me is that there's a different assassin that has an ability that's a far more natural fit for a "kite" play style.

Evelyn with her Hate Spikes.

Evelyn runs right next to an enemy and fires that ability over and over again. She's even got a way to remove slows and go faster so she can keep doing it. That feels far more like a champion with a kiteing kit than LeBlanc.

If LeBlanc is a "kite mage" because of her tether, does that mean Karma is also a kite mage?

Quort6 votes

I mean... Karma has a low cooldown slowing ability, a tether, and a speed buff. She may have high potential for burst but I would say she's quite kite oriented (especially since she also tries to maintain a decent range where she can get autos off to lower Mantra's cooldown).

She kites you by making your life bar disappear.

You mean like Ahri?

Damn Assassin/Mages.

Skias5 votes

Yeah, I have no idea why anyone would consider LB a kite mage. Nothing about her kit makes me think that. Hell, even Ahri is a better kite mage than LB and I still consider Ahri an assassin.

Riot:We need a secret plan to nerf all the assasins without everyone complaining. Meddler:what if we,rework them to be so broken that everyone bans them in every single game for 2 months and then nerf them to oblivion? Riot:sounds good.

Chembaron Yamada4 votes

While I don't really understand why they should make Leblanc a kite mage.... Ahri is the prime example of a kite mage. Never had an Ahri jumping right in your face with her R?

I think your argument doesn't really hold.

CasterGilgamesh2 votes

ahri was an assassin on release then got made into a poke mage after DFG got removed

Chembaron Yamada7 votes

And Leblanc was an assassin on release and now got reworked into an assassin/mage hybrid. I don't see the point here. ô.o

NineTailedMystic8 votes

Ahri was a kite Mage on release. She didn't even release with the E amp.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Ahri has always been a mess of both. She should be a mage/kite mage but thanks to DFG and her high dmg+mobility she was an assassin. DFG removed, dmg down and amp on E didn't work out too well. So dmg amp on E removed, movespeed on Q boom kite mage.

McFatal2 votes

this is what the word kite means to riot.

leblanc q ws an adc, they survive with 100 hp, leblanc has already w'd back to her clone so now she has to w back in and finish her off.

old leblanc could 1 shot you literally

Q... combo complete :3

And burst your 100% hp bar into 1% from lvl 2 .

Pale Pirate1 votes

make it 100% to 60%.

AngelFrost001 votes

99% ** she is mage afterall, and we all know mages does more damage than assassins last patch.

AngelFrost001 votes

Old leblanc 1 shot was just( q r w e ) or (e q r w ) using W for trades/escapes/waveclear is not related to her 1 shot except the fact that she does W into you and goes back immediately and escapes and sometimes hit minions near W range.

LostFr0st3 votes

^ This. Now she just point-blank Es at lvl 2 and chunks people with her passive proc on them to 1/4. Post lvl 3: If you run... well, let's face it you're not going to be able to get that far before it procs. If you stay to trade back she still has Q to countertrade (along with W if before she just landed E from range without melee W-ing.)

Quort1 votes

I have never seen LeBlanc E deal that much damage... and it's way easier to walk out of it than before.

Stars Shaper2 votes

Free mobility with a damage component, can be used for farm, attack or just escape. If they cut her burst down I can see her becoming more kite oriented.

Quort3 votes

It has a substantial mana cost and she essentially uses her body as a projectile. Sure, Distortion gives LeBlanc an easier time escaping and dodging things than immobile Champions, but when she uses it offensively she's much more vulnerable than a Champion like Lux that will never get close to you if she can avoid it.

Stars Shaper2 votes

That's because Lux is an Artillery mage, while surely safer it doesn't mean that LB can't kite, she is just more about dodging the fight than slowing you down from 100 miles.

That being said, it all ends up in how you envision LB, if you think she must be the character that needs to land a hard CC to burst you down then she is "fine" the way she is and just needs some tweaks. If you think the "illusion" theme can be achieved also by dodging the fight while still attacking the enemy then there is space for a kite mage, one a bit unsafe but with higher damage overall.

because kiteing always means you have an mobillity advantage over your opponent(paired with a range advantage), and that advantage ofcourse can be used to get close instead of gaining distance. Ever faced ashe or Kallista? They speciallize on kiteing, but at the same time you can't really escape them either. Lucian is also a supreme kiteing champ, but often gets up into the faces of squishy opponents. Ahrie is another kitemage, and just like LB she loves to get into sombodys pantsface, same with lissandra.
