Ealus, the Jailer of Magics

Lore

Ealus is a high priest of Demacia, and the head of house Brus. His house has been the underlying reason for the Demacian hatred of magic; through silver tongues turned towards nobles and silver coins turned towards politicians, they have kept magic as something viewed as cowardly and evil for hundreds of years. House Brus and his clergy run a prison for mages, or so they would have you believe. In reality, it is closer to an inquisition, in which captured mages are tormented until they either give up their secrets or are killed. These secrets lead to the capture of more mages, and thus the cycle continues. Ealus runs a brutal organization, fully supported and funded by house Lightshield. Of course, the royal family knows nothing of this. They are led to believe that the Brus Penitentiary treats the captured men according to the Demacian standard of honor. Oh, how wrong they are.

The cause for which house Brus commits these acts is a simple one: power. By capturing mages and forcing out their secrets, they can use those secrets to make their own magic more powerful. They hope to use their power to usurp the throne and become the demaican royal family.

Ealus Brus now lies in wait, a small army of mages at the ready, for the king to grow feeble.

Appearance

Ealus Brus is tall with a wrinkled, stern face. His eyes are a shocking blue, his hair long and grey. He dons a pure white robe over a golden tunic. He wields an oak cane with the Demaican sigil carved into it. The cane crackles with magical energy from a world rune hidden within.

Abilities

P: Stolen Power Whenever Ealus learns an ability he has not learned before, he permanently gains 5 armor and magic penetration, doubled against the champion he learned it from.

Q: Soul Burn 20 second CD, 50 mana Ealus applies a curse to a target enemy, causing them to take 10/13/16/19/22 (+.03 AP) plus 0.5% their max HP as magic damage per second for 5 seconds. Attempting to cast a spell will refresh the duration of Soul Burn and add another instance of it to you.

Multiple instances of Soul Burn fully stack.

If both Soul Burn and Arcane Warden are at max rank, Arcane Warden's beacon will apply soul burn with its attacks.

W: Arcane Warden 35 second CD, 70 mana Ealus places an anti-magic beacon at a target location (325 range).

Should an enemy champion within 900 units attempt to cast a spell (with the exception of summoner spells), they will be preemptively struck by the beacon. This strike deals 40/60/80/100/120 (+.2 AP) magic damage, stuns them for 1 second, and reveals them for 3 seconds. Primer spells (Mantra, Upgrade!!!) will not be stopped.

Being struck by this beacon prevents the spell cast entirely, so its cost will not be deducted nor will it be put on cooldown.

The beacon lasts for 15/20/25/30/35 seconds, but can be destroyed if it is struck three times. The beacon will not strike the same champion more than once every 10 seconds.

If both Arcane Warden and Soul Burn are at max rank, the beacons strike will apply Soul Burn.

E: Lock 16 second CD, 50 mana

Ealus emits power to a target location, dealing 50/70/90/110/130 (+.25 AP) magic damage to all units within a 350 AOE. Damaged units have their cooldowns locked for 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds.

R: The Inquisition 4 second CD, 60/80/100/120 mana (Automatically learned at level 1) (Passive) Champions Ealus has dealt spell damage to are marked for 6 seconds. The last spell they cast (or attempted to cast, if it was stopped by Arcane Beacon) is marked beside their health bar. Primer spells (Mantra, Upgrade!!!) are not counted.

(Active) Ealus copies the marked spell from his target. It starts as being assigned to R, and can stay that way for 10/15/20/25 seconds. When used, if its cooldown is greater than the remaining duration, it will be forgotten.

(Ranks 2+) If it is a basic ability, and he has not yet cast it, he can assign the spell to Alt-(Q/W/E) by pressing Alt-R-(Q/W/E). Once reassigned, it will last until Ealus casts it 3 times (or uses it for 8 seconds if it is a toggled effect), or until it is overwritten. Holding Alt-R for 1 seconds will cause Ealus to forget whatever spell is currently assigned to R.

The cooldown of "The Inquisition" begins when a spell is reassigned from R, the R spell is forgotten, or its duration expires.

Ealus can store up to 1/2/3/4 spells at any one time.

The cooldowns of stolen spells are visible on Ealus's buff bar.

Learned spells choose the greatest value for their scaling between Ealus's stats and the stats of the original champion.

That's a really interesting design! I'd play as him if he were in the game.

on the 1st look this kit is VERY well thought out and developed and extremely well designed, sticking to its core theme LIKE glue. The inter-kit play and kit cohesiveness is the stuff of legend and I thought I was good at that stuff.

Whats amazing is how much the kit accomplishes with how effective it is without being overly complex or mechanically challenging, its DECEPTIVELY simple

you took a simple idea and blew it to the max. You my friend might just be one to revive the champion concept craze of the old days when champ concept creators ran amuck and gained wild popularity with their well thought out and time invested champ designs.

this is amazing

on the the kit critique/questions

W - how many Arcane Wardens can he have out? 1? (I am hoping for 2, the though of having them flank either side of Ealus is super cool) you also need to be clear about which range is the cast range and which range is the Beacon's attack range.

E - while definitely fitting within his kit, I feel that E's description at least is lack luster. Perhaps a sentence upgrade could be of use?

Instead of "Ealus emits power to a target location," how do you feel about "Ealus creates an area deprived of magic at a target location," or "Ealus creates a magic vacuum at a target location."

Though I am well aware of the fact that not every ability needs to be a 10/10 OP, it feels like it is missing a bit of the kit magic that Q and W have. What if Ealus drew in surrounding magic casts (allied and enemy) that reduced E's CD I feel like that might make it a more solid connection to his kit.

I have another preposition how do you feel about changing E's name to Spell Well; and perhaps tweaking the way it works a bit? E - Spell Well

Ealus creates a magic vacuum at a target location that deals dmg and draws in energy gaining a charge from champion spell cast. The AoE grows w/ # of charges. Upon recasting the ability, initially damaged units and units w/in the AoE have their CDs locked for 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 sec (+ 1/# of charges)

R - I am iffy about that R tho is seems game breaking, but I guess if Mordekaiser can make copies of champions this is not that bad? I know that Riot is against abilities that reflect enemy abilities/skillshots against them, and this might be in that category, but it is still different, tho I do think being able to steal more than 1 ability is DEFINITELY unbalanced especially if he can cast them more than once because that means he can have EIGHT abilities. You also gotta think about the coding, those poor programmers, u really want to kill them don't you. Finally I think that R should always chose his own stats not the enemies.

i get the feeling that he should be building MR, but i dont see it in his kit, thats ok the theme is still rock solid
