https://imgur.com/9sXPc1B Hey Everyone! So I decided to whip up some new ideas for Zyra kit, in hopes that she can get a little tweaking for 2020. Below are some adjustments to her current kit with a few new things added that I think would make her a little more unique.

In quotations, I’ve left some remarks as to why I made the changes/additions as well. Let me know what you think! :)

Zyra PASSIVE - GARDEN OF THORNS

INNATE: Zyra periodically spawns one or two Seeds nearby that last for 30 seconds, briefly granting sight over the surrounding area.

Zyra can only have a total of 8 Seeds planted at a time, preserving placed Seeds over those spawned by Garden of Thorns.

NEW = After 1.5 seconds, enemy champions can destroy Seeds by stepping on them, but doing so grants true sight of them for 2 seconds.

NEW = Now periodically spawns two or three Seeds nearby

“For her passive I mostly left it as it is however, since I made changes to her W, I wanted to make her passive disperse seeds even more. Also moved the true sight vision onto these seeds when enemies step on them.”

Zyra Q - DEADLY SPINES

ACTIVE: Zyra sprouts thorny spines at the target location that appear after a 0.625-seconds delay, dealing magic damage to all enemies they hit.

If Deadly Spines hits a Seed, it sprouts into a lesser Thorn Spitter, which remains on the battlefield for 8 seconds.

NEW = Spell increases in size at levels 8 and 16 with every ability level - Suggested by TheSoftestDragon.

“Didn’t change much on this skill aside from its size increasing at different levels. I did this so that her skill can cover more ground and be able to hit far out of reach seeds and enemies.”

Zyra “ NEW” W - RAMPANT GROWTH

PASSIVE: Zyra periodically stores a Seed, up to 2. Unit kills grant 20% charge toward a Seed, increased to 100% for large units killed and enemy champion takedowns.

ACTIVE: Zyra summons a Greater Plant at the target location that appear after a 0.625-seconds delay. These function the same way as the lesser Thorn Spitter and Vine Lasher, however they deal more damage, look different in appearance, have more health and remain in the world for 10 seconds.

In the shop you can choose and swap between two types of greater plants to fit your playstyle.

GREATER THORN SPITTER = MORE DAMAGE GREATER VINE LASHER = SLOWS FOR 40% CAN ONLY HAVE A MAXIMUM OF 3 GREATER PLANTS IN THE WORLD

“So I changed the W to have it where you can automatically summon a plant to attack your target without having to land a Q or E on a seed, especially if both your damaging skills are on Cooldown or need some back up whilst getting jumped by an enemy.

You basically go into the shop and pick which type of seed you want to store with you and summon when you need a plant right away. At first I was going to add a variety of plants with different effects, but I figured RIOT wouldn’t want to invest the time in designing them. (Even though they made a champ like Aphelios having 5 weapons)

So, you can choose between the Greater Thorn Spitter or Greater Vine Lasher. These are the only two other plants that are designed differently just for aesthetic purposes and function just like their lesser counter parts which you see today. These ones however just do more damage and the Lasher slows for more. Nothing crazy.”

Zyra E - GRASPING ROOTS

ACTIVE: Zyra sends a surge of vines in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit and rooting them for a short duration.

If Grasping Roots hits a Seed, it sprouts into a lesser Vine Lasher, which remains on the battlefield for 8 seconds.

NEW = Spell increases in range at levels 8 and 16 with every ability level - Suggested by TheSoftestDragon.

NEW = Visual update so the vine looks more like Maokais Ult

“No drastic changes to this skill. Kept everything as is, it just needs a visual update so it atleast resembles the look it had in the cinematic she was a part of. Also as I did for her Q, it increases in length so she has a farther reach to catch her prey. Again, damage, slow and all that is untouched.”

Zyra R - STRANGLETHORN

ACTIVE: Zyra summons a monstrous thicket at the target location, dealing magic damage to all enemies in the area as it expands.

After 2 seconds, the vines snap upward, knocking up all enemies caught in the thicket for 1 second.

Plants hit by the thicket are enraged, restoring 50% of their current health, increasing their maximum health by 50%, and resetting their duration for the full duration of the thicket, for a maximum bonus duration of 2 seconds. Additionally they attack in a flurry, launching two shots per attack, dealing (150% damage per flurry).

NEW = Radius increases at levels 8 and 16 with every ability level - Suggested by TheSoftestDragon.

NEW = Now causes seeds hit by the thicket to sprout randomly into a Lesser Thorn Spitter or Vine Lasher, however they won’t have the additional effects added to them

“No big drastic changes to this skill aside from its radius increasing and it randomly summoning plants when it hits seeds. Though I made it so if that does happen, those plants wouldn’t benefit from the “enrage/frenzy” effect.”

Overall, I wanted to give Zyra a little more to her kit to sort of resemble how she is lore wise. I really wanted to give her spells a sense of growth as she grows in levels and wanted more presence out of her plants since that’s her main damage and they tend to die off too easily.

Plus with the new W feature allowing her to summon a more stronger plant to back her up right away would be a nice addition as well. It was also inspired from the cinematic when she was able to uproot three plants at once.

Great ideas increasing Zyra's range on abilities. This will help her feel more like a ranged summoner/caster as the game progresses. Might I recommend that the range changes occur with ability level and not champ level? This will allow for more decision making (do I want longer CC or damage?) Another great idea is the concept of the Greater Plants. I think that is very reminiscent of her old passive. I do wonder why you are limiting the type to one selected in the shop instead of retaining current functionality and allowing W to place a pod which will then become a greater plant? Either way very good ideas here.
