[Champion Concept]Mina-The Artist Of Bandle(UPDATED)

PeachyBubbleStar·5/24/2015, 6:37:10 AM·5 votes·1,664 views

(Iv'e updated the Passive to an extent to be different. it is now completely different, but i still do not have any art, sorry i dont have a drawing tablet.. :( I also updated her appearance thoughts :)

Mina is an artistic yordle from Bandle City that uses her talent of drawing/painting and other artistic skills to make priceless beautiful painting and art crafts to sell in her home town Bandle City, She is silly, fun, and uses a big paint brush to attack her enemies. along with others helpful ideas. She is a ranged mid/top champion.

Passive-Paint Trail When mina hits someone with any ability, it leaves paint on them which leaves a trail on them for a decent amount of time, perhands 8 seconds, and the paint trail begins to fade away after about 8 seconds. this also reveals the enemies.

Q-Splash of Color Mina shoots a blob of paint from her paint brush in target direction with a decent range, similar to caitlyns Q, it hits the first enemy hit and a small amount behind the enemy hit. dealing less damage to the ones hit behind the target struct with the ability. this also slows the enemy for 1.25 seconds

W-Spin Splat Mina twirls around swinging her paintbrush around 1 time, knocking back enemies.

E-Recolor Mina changes the colors on a target enemy champion silencing them and dealing a little bit of damage.

R-Master Piece! Mina jumps to target rectangular area about the range of Lux's E, and paints a big rectangular portrait of abstract colors on the ground, dealings damage and stunning all enemies locked inside of it for a short duration of time, and it deals about the same as Ziggs ulti.

Thanks, for taking the time to read my simple champion concept. If you like it and want to draw Mina, i imagined her having her hair back in a braid and she can have brown hair with bangs with the tip having been dipped in paint lol. y'know to look like her braid is a paint brush, it thought that would be cute cx She would have a bunch of small brushes in a little bag and maybe a small easel on her back with small tubes of paint and brushes in her little bag/purse, and have ears like tristanas and carry around a paintbrush about half the size of her body. she would have a rather messy costume, probably beige but with paint splats all over it :P But if you want to draw her in your own idea, GO FOR IT! i'd LOVE to see it :) (p.s. sorry if i miss spelled anything, or if anything sounds off) also. ALL help is appreciated, art, thoughts, ideas, ANYTHING :D thanks for reading!

Im not sure how this would counter eve. The passive needs some interaction though. Other than that it's pretty cool. Also, why not make it leave a trail of paint, but not reveal the champions. So that way you can keep the long duration BUT you can also not embark on LeeSin's territory too much. That way, it's still possible to target stealthed targets with skill shots, but not autoattacks and targetable's. The ultimate seems kinda weird. How does a portrait stun, and does the champion really need a huge aoe stun(or the game for that matter) Yes there's mobility creep, but CC creep is also a thing. This would add her as part of the "AOE ULT LOCKDOWN CC TEAM" allong with Amumu Braum Kennen Lissandra Orianna Sona Sejuani and MonkeyKing. The other things are cool though.

Sounds like a cool chap to me but i think that the passive duration should be reduced a little so people aren't raging about never being able to juke her. WAIT OMG SHE IS PERFECT FOR THINGS LIKE SHACO ULT AND THAT LEBLANC CLONE THING!

So heres an idea I had in my mind while thinking about a paint champion. You know how paint gets saturated with other colors untill eventually it becomes brown? What if her secondary resource bar was like that? Each time she casts a spell, her colors become more and more saturated and she has to do something to de-saturate them and that this saturation would somehow influence other abilities.

That ulti is like a long range Jarvan ult, possibly a little op, but I guess if she's built squishy then it is high risk. I did like the old version where the color mixes had effects, they just needed to be unique! Possibly even remove her ult and giver her colors similar to Udyr's stances.

I feel like adding an interaction to paint trail would be pretty cool

The kit seems to be in its infant stages like all those abilities are already in the game. I feel like having her be a painter and being able to leave marks on the map that interact somehow would make her kit have more of a personality to match her character personality

Hello! I'm Nesmith. You could call me a professional champion concept designer and criticizer. I'd like to help you concept your champion more thoroughly. Get comfy, 'cause this comment's long.

Abilities

Passive-Paint Trail When mina hits someone with any ability, it leaves paint on them which leaves a trail on them for a decent amount of time, perhands 8 seconds, and the paint trail begins to fade away after about 8 seconds. this also reveals the enemies.

I really do like this idea of a passive, however I'm on the fence about how this would be - strong or weak. It seems like just vision wouldn't be enough, however the duration is incredibly long. 8 seconds? That's a lot longer in League of Legends time than you think. I'd recommend bringing it down to about 3 or 4 seconds, and maybe increase the duration based on her level (preferably at 1 / 7 / 13).

Also, another thing - make sure the paint trail isn't too long, and perhaps grant vision on the paint trail itself.

One final note is that it seems like it'd be too strong if it hit literally everything your abilities touch. I suggest changing it so that it'll only apply to champions.

  • Duration should be 8 seconds 4 seconds.
  • Trail is existent until expiration short and does nothing grants vision.
  • Applies to all targets enemy champions.

I like the concept, and it's pretty cool - kind of like a mini-Grave's Collateral Damage with a slow. I'd just like you to go into more detail. "decent range, similar to caitlyns Q," doesn't quite cut it. To give you a perspective, Teemo's model is approximately 100x100 units, and Caitlyn's Piltover Peacemaker reaches as far as 1250 units, or 12 and a half Teemos. Try to figure out numbers there, in case you'd like to approximate how far abilities should go.

Also make sure you add damage numbers, including ratios, as well as mana and cooldown cost/duration.

  • Range is as far as Caitlyn's Q 1250 units.

W-Spin Splat Mina twirls around swinging her paintbrush around 1 time, knocking back enemies.

Does this do damage, or is it just a CC? Also, make sure you know the difference between a pure knock-back, a pure knock-up, and a hybrid. To give you an example, Alistar's Headbutt is a pure knock-back; Alistar's Pulverize is a pure knock-up; and Zac's Let's Bounce is a hybrid. Just for your information.

Also, as mentioned before, clarify how far enemies will be knocked back - is it a fixed distance where they'll always go a certain distance, or is it to the edge of the ability? Things like that make abilities much clearer to the viewers of the concept.

  • Ability does no damage could use damage.
  • Ability applies knock-back a hyrbird (my suggestion.)
  • Ability knocks-back to the edge a fixed distance.

E-Recolor Mina changes the colors on a target enemy champion silencing them and dealing a little bit of damage.

To provide information on this, I'll ask three questions: how long does the silence last?; how much damage is dealt?; and what are the mana and cooldowns?

  • Ability silence lasts essentially indefinitely 1.0 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds (my suggestion.)
  • Ability deals so much damage you can't even describe it other than "a little bit" 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+0.6 AP) magic damage (my suggestion.)

R-Master Piece! Mina jumps to target rectangular area about the range of Lux's E, and paints a big rectangular portrait of abstract colors on the ground, dealings damage and stunning all enemies locked inside of it for a short duration of time, and it deals about the same as Ziggs ulti.

Whoa - hold your horses on the damage train. 250 / 375 / 500 (+0.9 AP) in an 300 unit area with a stun? That's pretty damn strong if you ask me, especially since she jumps to that area. Don't get me wrong, I really like the concept - the only problem that I truly have with this is that it's damage is too high for how instantaneous it would probably be, it's range is a bit small for the effect it applies, and the AoE stun effect is mighty, but in a good way.

TL;DR: ↓

  • Deals 250 / 375 / 500 (+0.9 AP) magic damage 200 / 325 / 450 (+0.75 AP) magic damage (my suggestion.)
  • Range is 300 units in radius 375 units in radius (my suggestion.)
  • Stun lasts for so long it indefinitely goes on until you understand the concept of stuns themselves 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds (my suggestion.)

Lore

N/A.

I suggest how she draws a drawing so marvelous (probably something involving a devastating tragedy in Bandle City's history) that she is inspired to draw around the world, and the League of Legends is exactly where to do it.

Appearance

...i imagined her having her hair back in a braid and she can have brown hair with bangs with the tip having been dipped in paint lol. y'know to look like her braid is a paint brush, it thought that would be cute cx She would have a bunch of small brushes in a little bag and maybe a small easel on her back with small tubes of paint and brushes in her little bag/purse, and have ears like tristanas and carry around a paintbrush about half the size of her body. she would have a rather messy costume, probably beige but with paint splats all over it :P

Cool concept, all I ask is if she's a yordle, what color is her skin? Blue? Purple? Green? Any color works, as no Yordle is the same (except Poppy and Tristana, who are blue.) I can visualize her being a peachy red color with her cheeks and face emphasized more. I also imagine her wearing a robe similar to Lulu's, only it reaches to her waist, and below she wears leggings and creative boots. You do you, though!

I like the big paint brush description of her weapon, and how she is decorated. Really creative.

Scores

Abilities: 7 / 10

Definitely some cool abilities I've never come up with before. Some are very simple, and some may require massive re-vamps (passive in particular.) All in all you did a good job designing the kit, and it definitely relates to her lore in a very well made manner.

Appearance: 9 / 10

I can't get over how cute she'd look in that outfit and with a massive brush like that. I can totally imagine everything she'd look like in a lot of detail! Good description, but please just be a bit more thorough with it.

Lore: N/A

You did not have a lore. I suggest utilizing mine, or concepting something of your own. Until then, this section is considered Non-Applicable.

Overall: 6 / 10

6 out of 10 is not 60%, or a D- grade, and in the world of concepts, it never will be - so don't panic. The reason I gave you this score is because you're missing a key element to a concept: the lore. A champions kit, appearance, and even their title revolves around lore, and it's very important you apply it to your concept. Otherwise, the abilities and appearance are very nice. All in all you did a fantastic job, and I hope to see a good edit in the future! :D

This is so FUN!!

I love the concept of the Bandle City artist. It feels like such a rich space creatively. I agree with Nesmith in regards to the Lore. I'd love to know more about her; why did she become an artist? what are her favorite things to paint around Bandle City? what does the city think of her? You elaborated a lot on looks, maybe spend some time thinking about her story.

"Mina's the youngest in her family of five. She was born into a house of creativity where walls were adorned with realistic and surrealist images, bookshelves were filled tightly with literature (half of which was written by her elder brothers), and the air was always sweet with the delicate melodies her mother would compose.

It was only natural Mina would find her creative gifts early in life. Mina flourished with a brush in her hand. She would paint on canvas, on walls, and even on the rocks and trees of nature if she had nothing else. Before she was 10 it was impossible to walk the streets without seeing one of her inspiring paintings adorned on a makeshift canvas."

What else makes he exceptional? Does she have an enchanted brush? etc.

As for gameplay, I think there's still a lot of opportunities here to really expand on her.

Passive-Paint Trail When mina hits someone with any ability, it leaves paint on them which leaves a trail on them for a decent amount of time, perhands 8 seconds, and the paint trail begins to fade away after about 8 seconds. this also reveals the enemies.

I'm particularly drawn to her passive and finding a way to have it more interactive with the rest of her kit. What if her auto attacks and spells applied a color of paint (red, blue, yellow?) and each hit changed the color in order (red --> yellow --> blue --> red) and all her other abilities interact depending on the paint color. Again, I agree with Nesmith that the time should be much shorter to be 'marked' though.

Stick to a moderate-range skillshot with different effects for each color. Red- Triggers an AoE splash (think item 3285 ) Blue- Applies a scaling slow Yellow- Leaves a trail of the skillshot (similar to KogMaw or Nocturne ) that grants vision of everything hit and leaves behind the paint trail

W-Spin Splat Mina twirls around swinging her paintbrush around 1 time, knocking back enemies.

I like it but I picture this more as an angled sweep from Mina which would make the ability more like a cone than all around. It would also be neat to have it influenced by whatever color she is prepared to use at the time but all apply some form of CC stun/knockback/slow.

E-Recolor Mina changes the colors on a target enemy champion silencing them and dealing a little bit of damage.

To fit with the theme I would say she desaturates the enemy champion 'rinsing' whatever color they might have been marked with and silencing them for a brief period of time.

R-Master Piece! Mina jumps to target rectangular area about the range of Lux's E, and paints a big rectangular portrait of abstract colors on the ground, dealings damage and stunning all enemies locked inside of it for a short duration of time, and it deals about the same as Ziggs ulti.

Have her pull out some paintball guns and she can fire at max attack speed for 5 seconds while she unloads art on everyone!! >:D No? Alright, well here I don't have a suggestion but I'd like it to be something that makes sense thematically and is something unlike anything else in League of Legends. I think the ult is a great place for Mina to really make her mark in flavor.

Really, Elinz, good job! This is a really cool champion idea! Thanks for sharing.
