I like the idea on paper, but when it comes down to it, you'd have to know when the right time to heal is and when the right time to shield is.

I've personally liked the idea of giving Spell Shields to allies, though with how certain items already grant it, it'd be tough to deal with.

How would you balance that, though? Shields tend to be stronger than heals due to their temporary nature, and would significantly buff Karma item 3190

And how about the heal and shield conversion? If the values remain the same, who in their right mind would change a heal to a shield? The only time I can possibly ever see that happening is an ignite late-game or your entire team has GW, but even then I don't see Soraka using it for that. With shield current values, Karma would have a discount Soraka ult. Other champions who have shields instead of heals because of the nature of their kit could potentially become somewhat overbearing, or find this item useless depending on how strong it is.

It's an interesting idea, but do we really need it? Maybe if it was a tank item or something, because I don't really see this as a need for supports.
