Why did Sona get picked for ultimate skin?
Just curious, Riot. Why Sona? Some people could consider DJ just a buffed up Arcade skin almost. I'm not complaining, I won't buy it because I don't play Sona, I'm just curious.

I don't get why people keep saying it'll be similar to Arcade Sona. Arcade Sona is just Sona with video game noises. DJ Sona is Sona with dance music.
I'm pretty sure part of the reason is due to the champion's age. The 2 that have them so far were released quite awhile ago 03-16-2010 (ezreal) & 12-02-2009 (Udyr). Next we look a Sona, her release was 09-21-2010, so she fits the age category and then of course she's a support as I'm pretty sure they want to put an ultimate skin for each type of champion (the first being an ADC, and second being a Jungler).
So it could be a variety of things. Plus, she only has 5 skins and only 3 of them are in the store year round, as the other two are Legacy. Where as if you look at say Annie, who is up for one of the two Vday skins this year, she has up to 9 alternate skins total, and 5 are currently in the store, with this upcoming one being 6 (but probably legacy so won't be around for long)
So yeah, to give love to older champions like this, I'd say the proper way is a skin, but not just any skin.. it has a be something big like an Ultimate skin.
Because they think she needs ANOTHER skin..
I would imagine it was easy for them to create this skin plus there has been an interesting DJ Sona since her original release. Sona is likely a popular champion as well.

This skin makes me wish I was a Sona player, and although I don't really want her to get the new Ultimate, i do like it. On the bright side, it wasn't a Teemo ultimate.
Why did she get it? Because nobody plays her and she's not a good champ at the moment compared to practically any other support...so...new skin it so it gets played.
There's three ultimate skins now...Udyr...Ezreal...Sona. Udyr is total crap and everyone not named Trick2G knows that. Ezreal is one of the weakest ADC's at the moment competitively speaking, and Sona is the bottom of the support pool. This is all rather silly.
We technically haven't even seen what DJ Sona looks like, though thanks to that promo, we've got a pretty good guess what her head will be.
Just wait to see what they do to it to constitute the "Ultimate" status. If it -is- just an upgraded Arcade skin, then feel free to complain (or not).

just, arcade is related to video games, and it is a pax skin too; if she didn't had the luck to get it, she would've been left with two skins being not legacy and one actually legacy. as well, being one of the first ultimate skins that can change form by its will, its pretty awesome.
Even if it is a buffed arcade skin, i would still buy it. To be honest, because of her aura effects, it'll be hard to add different effects to justify the "ultimate" quality. I will most definitely be buying it just for the different interactions, jokes, taunts, backs, etc. though.
