Gamemode: The Void

Hi everyone,

I realized that we don't get to experience much of the void despite having 6 champions from there + Rift Herald & Baron Nashor. So i thought about a gamemode surrounding this.

The gamemode is built upon a survival type gameplay in an arena like map (shape of the map inspired by the Void Crest Icon http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/The_Void?file=Void_Crest_icon.png ), where you have to clear your way through a total of 20 waves increasing with difficlty as you go to survive till the end.

The objective is to clear waves of void creatures (similar to COD: Zombies) and surviving, while fighting an OP void champon or creature similar to the Rift Herald/Baron Nashor every 5th wave or so (either by yourself to test your skills or in a team to improve teamwork skills).

The store opens at the end of each wave and you get to level up 1 ability with every wave cleared and you get too level up your ult every 5th wave ( I intentionally want the boss/every 5th wave to be difficult & leveling up once every waveclear + defeating the boss grants you that ult level up, it would give a feeling af acchievement imo) with a total of 18 levels. The store doesn't necessarily have the same items as in Summoners Rift, it could have new items just for this mode.

In the end you get IP/XP equivalent to how many waves cleared, last hits...etc.

Imo it's an nice way to approach the void while bringing a fresh concept into League like no other, especially that the objective isn't killing to beat an enemy rather strategise to survive.

Plz don't forget to vote and like this post to be noticed by Riot, this is my 1st Boards discussion so go easy on me ;) Suggestions and ideas are very welcome.

TY for reading my post & have a nice day :D

/Ozzie

P.S: A twist to this could be that the team faces 1 "voided" opponent (similar to being ascendant in Ascension). instead of a void creature every 5th wave.

I'd have to say this is quite an interesting concept to "the Void" and as much as I'd like more Void champions; we both know Riot isn't even currently thinking about the Void. The idea of having a Void creature and voided arena is pretty intriguing though. And although you need more to specify (like say; what do deaths do? Eliminate you from the game? Can you be revived? etc), I think that the basis is pretty good. It would have a set amount of time like 15 minutes for a full 10 rounds or something like that.

1st of all i want to thank you for your reply, here's a cockie item 2054 (I've alaways wanted to say that XP) 2nd...omg i totally forgot about the deaths and revives XD

Imo there would be 3 revives then the player would be eliminated. Every death causes the player to reset the wave he died in with the gold, xp and level up earned in that wave removed.

I thought about the idea of a countdown for each wave or a full countdown from the start but scraped it. I want this mode too be suitable for all types of champions (for example Sona doesn't have the same clearing speed as a Jax have) Thus adding a timer for all champons would feel unfair.

About the rounds, 10 does feel abit too easy or small of a number for a new challenging mode. If there was only 10 waves with each wave lasting alot it would get borring, if the waves were short the mode would be over before you know it.

Imo 20 waves would be ideal, here's my reason behind it. A player gets to level up every wave with the ult upgraded after defeating each boss/OP void creature (to give the feeling of an achievement) with a totall of 18 levels just like normal, you'd be able to buy items in the last 2 waves but no level upps are available, the last wave being ofc the most challenging where you get to defeat a super void (like Baron Nashor).

What do you think shoud a timer be concidered? And is 20 waves ideal or too much / not enough?

Thnxs again for your reply and feedback, I'll uppdate the post with these ideas ;)

I think that the 3 revives would be a good idea ^.^ At least 3 wave changes should be included so people don't cheat a certain build that works for the whole game to grind champion mastery/whatever the reward will be at the end (I propose it be a key frag every 3rd or so game). Like for example 5 super minions, or 30 normal minions, or 1 Doom Bot etc.

True and should it be a solo or party mode? Such as have a wave-clearer and a support etc for party mode and for solo it'd be something different (still thinking about solo). Like Sona could have a fast wave-clear if she went AD but a lot slower one if she went AP.

Hmmm I think 20 waves would be ideal as well. Maybe the final reward can be a key frag and if they make it to wave 10 like an extra 50 ip, and wave 15 could be like 10 skin shards/20 champion shards.

I don't think a timer should be considered. I feel like the rounds could be based off of the champion and it has to end at a certain time. Like 15 minutes for example (exactly minus the time to pick the champion and the login screen).

I just like replying to these types of things :) :P I'll most likely always reply with the expection of a time gap in between replies ~Good Luck on the Rift EliszaKitsune

The only real problem I see is that it's not a PvP system. Turning a game mode into a PvE farm mode would not be good for the community, but I do like the direction you are thinking for the setting.

I was aware of this problem. One idea i came up with was having a real player being the boss every 5th wave. The problem is that it would be a bad experience for that player to wait for the waves to be cleared (if they do get cleared in the 1st place) to be able to play. So yeah, not the brightest solution XP

I don't realy have a solid idea to turn this kind of gamemode into a PVP type, if you do plz feel free to suggest it and i'll add it to the post :)

TY again for your comment ^^

No I think this will be good, just like Doombots. But rather than having pvp elements it should have better PVE, like fighting 10 strong void monsters running down the lane. for example around level 1-5 just small voidlings, little critters. after that 10 it'll spawn bigger and dangerous enemies and then more in droves. The pressure becomes so hard to handle that backing at the wrong time will get you overrun and at final stages you will fight like rift heralds running down your lane, and even baron nashor.

Exactly, that way the difficulty increases with every wave thus testing your skills and surviving would become more of a challenge :D

So like a firefight mode? I think though leveling should be done a bit more often as if you level every 2 levels but a boss creature comes on the 5 th wave, a lot of champions don't hit their powerspike till level 6

I belive you're right. Now that i think about it leveling up that slowly would feel lite a drag. though i had in mind that there would be like 25 or 30 waves to clear but it would be too much. Keep in mind that i intentionally want the boss/every 5th wave to be difficult & levelin up once every waveclear+defeating the boss grants you that ult level up ( i'll edit the post to fix this issue).

Thank you so much for your feedback :)
