So what did happen to the recoloring system eventually?

http://i.imgur.com/Yr20i4f.png I remember how Riot Games asked players about the possibility to recolor their favorite skins. This topic could be a little reminder. Are there still any plans about the subject? Was it cancelled or is it still being developed?

Idk, but blue Lucian looks pretty badass.

Look at Kennen's legacy skins... what's the point of asking when they've already gone ahead and implemented this already?

I wish i could recolor zac

Recolor's should be an option for base the skin, and you should be able to get them for IP. They aren't fancy and new like other skins, they just let you say, "Ya know what? I like Sion better as bright purple." and not have to be like, "I want Sion to be a lumberjack."

On the imgur link, I don't think redone splash arts would work very well. But simple recolors of the skin I don't think would be too hard. Also, if it was easy/quick enough, they could be made to cost IP (probably pretty high though). That way, older players who have been on the game for 3-4 years could have another thing to spend IP on after they have all the champs and runes (or all the ones they want)

It would be fitting to play as a blood-red teemo.

If you got to choose the color scheme, this might be something. Like, buying the skin, then being able to choose the colors, which you can switch around whenever. Having a recolor of a champion skin seems weak, but when you can augment it with specific colors, or clan colors.

Lux That shoots black lasers yes pls

SecretAgentHulk1/15/2015, 6:15:06 AM3 votes

No link unfortunately, but IIRC they were concerned that it might become really hard to identify (some) individual champions in a sea of rainbows.

kDrakari1/15/2015, 7:14:17 AM3 votes

It'd be cool if they made recolor-only skins available for IP. You know, just SOMETHING to show a little extra dedication to a champion without spending money.

Then again, then they'd have to change some of the current skins that are already just recolors... though I guess I don't mind an exception for particularly special recolors a la King Rammus.

Or not, even just really cheap skins would be a nice touch, while fully custom coloring would be very nice but understandably difficult to implement.

AnonTwo1/15/2015, 4:26:06 PM2 votes

A project like that would probably take a long time, especially if you consider none of the older skins were probably made to properly change colors.

It's not like in Warcraft III where every hero had "team colors", as is all you could really do is tint them, which doesn't look nearly as good.

In short, it takes a lot of time on top of the fact they have to remake a lot of champion art.

Brenticus121/15/2015, 2:04:08 PM2 votes

Eh, not really into that idea. It's cool, but I like things kept farely realistic in some ways and not have purple Sions or pink Mordekaisers running about, creating the most Garish display of colours. It just really puts me off. Yes, Riven in a bunny suit solo-carrying and Poppy beating up people with a lollipop are not realistic but they're far more acceptable than the inevitable garish clash of rainbow-ish colours that's bound to happen.

This could be a great IP alternative to RP skins. I don't think the recolors should be free but I think 5000-7000 IP would be a fair price. Still enough of a price that not everyone would want to buy it for every champ, but cheap enough that its attainable.

Nicktoons1/15/2015, 6:36:38 PM2 votes

They should make it like fighting games, when you get to pick your skin but there will be arrow keys above and below the skin to pick different colors. The colors should be free though.

Haziness1/17/2015, 11:02:54 AM1 votes

If this is only targeted towards just the clothes being changed of color like above then i dont see a reason as to why they shouldnt do it. I wouldnt expect it to be fully customizable but hey even just the clothes wouldnt be so bad and it'd be a nice change of pace. Plus it wouldnt hurt to have since some champs that dont have a lot of skins would mostly benefit from it,not to mention quench some skin thirst.

What about if each champion would get an free blue/red skin for each side of the summoners rift?

Newb the Legend1/15/2015, 2:43:52 PM1 votes

I would rather beat someone up with a purple hammer than a lollipop anyday

Jeddy0171/15/2015, 4:16:35 PM1 votes

I was thinking that if Riot makes a Power Rangers inspired skin line,Lucian could be the blue ranger.

Blue Moon Wolf1/15/2015, 5:23:03 PM1 votes

a NOT blue Warwick? sign me up.

Tentacle Love1/15/2015, 6:17:01 PM1 votes

Wow that Bluecian is hot stuff.

Samflash31/15/2015, 6:25:11 PM1 votes

They realized that some people would be angry if a skin they paid for would be slightly cheaper in a recoloured scheme (or would be bought in IP)

Statikin1/15/2015, 11:37:38 PM1 votes

Blucian. I want it.

Sukishoo1/16/2015, 2:18:11 AM1 votes

I think it was just a survey at the time to see how many would be interested in it. There probably weren't enough interested in it to be anything worth working on... Plus what would they really do? Think about it... you'd have to make a wide selection of colors since not everyone would want a Blue recolor for Lucian. So there'd be a lot of work to be put into that, and they said they might make splash recolors for them too, so that's even more work.

Akeito1/16/2015, 4:47:33 AM1 votes

I just wanted a Blue Viktor and Blue Vladimir

AvariceSyn1/16/2015, 6:31:50 AM1 votes

Recolors should not cost RP.

Sarutobi1/16/2015, 6:45:29 AM1 votes

Honestly i give up with these surveys. it seems like every one i have done was for nothing (aside from the limited Edition skins to Legacy) i remember the whole RP reward system they did and turned out that was for nothing since they also ask people who have/never will buy RP and majority of them thought it was a bad idea because it wasnt fair to people who dont buy RP. which makes no sense. if thats the case why even make skins since its unfair for people who dont buy RP?

This recolor skins really has no downside to it and its sad most people are taking it the wrong way! This at least from my point of view is suppose to be for champions who rarely get skins, and basically ease them in till we wait for a more detailed skin! how exactly is this a bad idea? i would rather get a cheap skin than wait 2-4+ years on a champion's new skin! it shouldnt be too time consuming or anything like that since its suppose to be something quick and easy!

Kulstor Ebrough1/16/2015, 9:49:25 PM1 votes

Probably abandoned so people wouldn't pervert the game.. Like make Acolyte Lee Sin look more like a lady part than it already does (seriously, someone at riot needs to redesign the splash art to that).
