[Champion Concept] Frederick, the Spawn of Pain

Lore Once a demacian warrior, now an adjutant of blood arts master, Frederick has become a servant of the one who he has claimed to destroy. Knights of hope, demolishers of justice and bearers of honor – these are the men he always wanted to be like. But eventually, the darkness in his heart has made him choose the opposite of light, the nemesis of good, something beyond both morality and humanity. He was found by accident when he was just a 3 years old child in the village near Demacia. From his first steps he was raised like a future defender of his new homeland with a book in one hand and the dagger in another. When he has reached the age of 25, his new father and his men planned to assault the grand temple of an infamous blood mage named Vladimir, who tricked both death and life, who feasted on human’s flesh and souls. From the moment he heard about this plan, Frederick started having nightmares about his childhood. He wasn’t really sure if he was actually adopted as it was never revealed to him, but these dreams and pictures of his own actions made him curious about his true origin. The sanguine light of red moon has filled their hearts with doubts and uncertainties. The closer they came to the damned temple, the greater was their fear. He was waiting for them, as his pawns were ready to break their skulls and to reap their bones. The bloody battle between dark magic and brave hearts was about to end with the mage being ruined, but something in the air has shifted. Frederick’s vision has blurred, he began to feel sick. Strangely familiar feelings begin to wrap his soul. He hardly looks into the sky and notices a humanoid silhouette with a giant living sword. Frederick couldn’t see his face, but he was sure that their eyes have met already. This stranger wasn’t fighting, but it felt like he was the biggest part of this battleground. Shadows lean on him. Frederick finds himself in front of the dark lord, the ruler of this grim yet sacred place, with a blood on his one remaining hand. The most of the blood around him wasn’t demonic; it belonged to the men who fought on his side few moments ago. His nightmares were merely a preparation for a true damnation he was about to suffer from. And this was the long awaited night where he betrays not only his home, but his humanity. Frederick was trembling in fear, as the pictures in front of him grew even darker with every last breath of his. “- For what you’ve done and for what powers are hidden inside of your mortal yet dying body, I shall spare your life and make you one of my greatest minions”. Vladimir cuts himself and lets the betrayer drink his blood. All pain is gone, as he was born from it. Abilities:

Passive: Spawn of Pain [Blood Magic Amateur] http://i.imgur.com/3kOL7DH.png Whenever Frederick’s mana drops lower than 2& of it’s maximum, he stops to regenerate it for 15 seconds and his abilities instead start to consume his health with double amount except The Condemned Devourer.

Q: **Bloody Bullet ** http://i.imgur.com/rIO3lWk.png Frederick triggers his magical pistol-knife and sends bullet made of his own blood that will deal physical damage and apply on-hit effects to the first enemy it hits. After reaching its target, bullet leaves a hunger mark on it for 6 seconds. When Condemned Devourer is activated: with a slash of his scythe sends 3 blood balls in a triangle trajectory.
Mana cost: 40/45/50/55/60 mana. Health cost: 30/40/50/60/70 health. Range: 800 Projectile speed: 1900 Physical Damage: 45/65/85/105/125 (+ 100% AD) Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6

**W: ** Hemic Carnival http://i.imgur.com/vHfS8Ce.png Frederick turns into untargetable bloody fog with only his hand and head being visible for 2 seconds (also unavaliable to use abilities). He gains 20% speed, ignores unit collision and is able to shoot enemies in the opposite way of his movement slowing their movement down by 60% for 2 seconds and dealing no damage. When Condemned Devourer is activated: gains 40% speed, ignores unit collision. Mana cost: 45/50/55/60/65 Cooldown: 25/24/23/20/15 Range: 500

E: Posthuman Starvation http://i.imgur.com/jeAgpHV.png Frederick rushes forward and bites closest target to restore his own health and then quickly dashes backwards. If target is still under the hunger mark, Posthuman Starvation will root Frederick and his target for 1 second. Mana cost: 35/40/45/50/55 Range: 450 Magic Damage: 70/100/130/160/190 (+50/65/70/75/80% AD). Health regained: 20/25/30/35/40 (+30% AD). Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/10

R: The Condemned Devourer http://i.imgur.com/8pqEo1w.png Frederick releases the seal on his left arm and summons a giant scythe made of his own blood which expands his attack range and greatly increases his lifesteal for 10 seconds. Condemned Devourer can also expand some of his base skills. Mana cost: 100 Health cost: 30% of current health. Attack range increased from 125 to 255. Lifesteal bonus – 30%/50%/70% Cooldown: 150/130/110

Taunts: Vladimir - "I disobey". Lucian - "You will never find her". Aatrox - Frederick just stares at him, shocked. Aatrox - "That sword.." Sion - "You are the main goal of my inclination to destroy". Kalista Hecarim - "I've read about you. Hmph, worse than I've imagined".

Extremely generic, kiddy themes ( a scythe made of his own blood?) an overpowered W that makes him untargetable, 100% AD ratios on Q and E really? On hit effects on Q? Built in kite with his E? Super low cooldowns at late game makes him like 100x more OP than yasuo with a 100% lifesteal ult? Press R Q W E to win. This guy would be super OP. Not to mention super low mana costs all game.

That's a rude critique, if that can be called so. Can you actually explain me what is kiddy about having a scythe made of his own blood? All his stats were based on existing numbers. And if you remember, Old Sion kit had 100% lifesteal ult at lvl 16 as well (and it also had a crazy attack speed). This one at least has its circumstances and is balanced compared to Sion. His W is similar to Vladimir as it also makes him untargetable. Most of AD characters have 100% AD ratios, read lol wiki. I guess that u didn't read his passive, although I can lower his maximum mana.

Bro he has two 100% AD abilities and of of these has 4 sec CD at max rank. Lets put some 40%CDR on that and see if you can get away from him EVER because it's a dash ability but then he also has his W which increases movespeed and ignored unit collison. Not to mention his ulti gives him greater attack range.

And by kiddie I mean thats just something like my little cousin would make up in his comic books.

Be real, who in the world could 1v1 this dude on oven terms late game?

I'm not saying comics are only for kids I just thought the idea was something that would appeal to more kiddie interests when I myself prefer more mechanics based, realistic kinds of champions with one or two fantasy elements like yasuo, great mechanics champion with the wind deal as a fantasy aspect. Works great. Vayne, fantasy storyline/cause but played best when you use things at the right times. I just feel like you could activate your ulti and QWE whenever and win any 1v1

Nope, but yours is waaaaaaay more out there than vlads. Vlads ult is a hemoplague, which actually makes sense and is really cool when you think about it, a scythe made of blood, well anyone can think of that. Let's break down what I'm saying because you obviously don't get it. See how you have to mention two or three champions to compare to yours? You basically pick and chose from other champions to create one OP champion with favorable characteristics. I'm sure the community wants new and original ideas, and since you admitted you took actual numbers from existing champs, your idea is not what the community wants. It was just my opinion that your story and overall concept is really generic and common. Another commenter has shared this opinion as well.

Lets talk about that 2x hp ultimate cost. 10 seconds, 100% lifesteal and two on hit procing abilities that can crit. Q E, right back at full HP assuming you already had lifesteal beforehand. Youd go over on lifesteal and completely break opponents in 1v1, 1v2, and even 1v3 situations quite easily with those ratios and built in kite on that bite ability if played half correctly.

You mention sion before his rework. Theres a reason champs get reworks. And sion didnt have an on hit procing ability thats up every 4 seconds without CDR with substantial lifesteal along with autoattacks and another ability. Also that W invulnerability? Get real man. It's op.

I've listened to him because he showed a good attitude and sensible critique, unlike you. Nobody cares what your interests in champions are, unless you want to show these boards any of your ideas. Ok, first off I would like to compliment your passive! It has a serious draw back, and makes it so your opponent has a good window to really trade back.

But if I were to play this champ. I'd do what Gangplank dose and chug potions all day and shoot my opponent into oblivion.

Speaking of the Q, it's a little high in damage. Perhaps consider making the % bonus ramp up like Shavana's Q. Starting at 80%, and like ending at 100%

And that brings me to his E. Thanks for making it magic damage. But the Ratio dose feel high. Perhaps make it .7 or .6, and add a small AP ratio somewhere. People will build Trinity foce on him. And static shiv because he can just Q it onto someone. Then get a item 3042 to avoid the draw back on the passive.

I think the W fog ability is pretty cool. But it also sounds too strong. Imagine Vlad being able to use spells while he's a puddle. I think it might turn out okay as long as he can't use spells either. But in the game of Leauge becoming untargetable is too powerful. All damage can be negated. Fizz and Yi can miss out on taking 2k damage timed right. In lane: We'd try trading, you'd poke, I'd poke. But if you do an all in trade, or I do. You'll go invincible waiting for cooldowns and AA'ing me while the minions AA me for two seconds. And I'll be SOL. If I chance, you kite. If I run away, you'll chace and poke.

R: No one win their right mind will use up 30% of current health. They'll get a few light mana items and avoid his drawback. Now, I don't know how much you played the Old Sion, but his ult was extremely powerful. I was behind by 5k gold because of the lee sin who got 6 ganks on my lane at top. He was 1 item from full build. I had 132% lifesteal. I ripped him open, with less items, and sat there 1v1 ing him with a 5k gold difference. And won. It was stupid. On the other hand.

I do the same thing with the new Olaf. ~130% lifesteal. But there's a difference. For olaf to have that much lifesteal he has to be at about 20% HP. Meaning, I could still go down. The major difference was as Sion I had it like that if I was at 90% HP, or 5%. Because it's always on. I never went down to 20% like Olaf.

Over all I like the concept. But my main issue is that he feels like a couple of chamions combined. Vladimir Gangplank and a bit of Aatrox I think he needs to have a stronger Identity seen in his game play.

As a vlad main I dislike this, his w be infringing on vlad's puddle of blood powers :P but all in all it seems cool, although I do agree with some of the lower comments about balances, putting a range increase on a champ that can also run anywhere like hell seems powerful

haha, thanks :P Glad to see another Vlad main, we're few here. Should I really decrease his ult range bonus? It didn't really look OP to me (Aatrox ult also increased his attack range). I don't get actually about the run anywhere part as well :3 His W is more like a saving skill rather than anything else. He can't do dmg, he can't use abilities, only slowing down enemies which are chasing him.

Wow you put A LOT of thought, heart, and artistic ability into this, i'm rooting for you dude. I may not be a pro LoL player but this guy look pretty much ready fro the big show, i thought i was close with my Ventus champion idea, it doesn't even BEGIN to touch yours, i obviously need to put more work into it though. I do have one complaint though: Frederick, really? Doesn't exactly scream spawn of pain, lol, but seriously dude nice job. Maybe you could help me make my champion Ventus a reality you obviously know what you're doing, and i frankly get confused with all the pro league terms

Yeah... I remember being in middle school too...

Nothing wrong with flexing your creative muscles kid, but your character is overpowered both thematically and mechanically, and just REEKS of pointless edginess.

General tips when designing characters (both story-wise and mechanics-wise) think of what makes your character strong, then think of what makes them weak. What counters them? What are they afraid of? What sort of situations do they want to avoid? This is your chance to add depth and dynamism to your character. Anyone can design an overpowered demon king who laughs in the face of god, but the challenge is to make a character with weaknesses worth overcoming.
