Atlas, The Spellsmith (Champion Concept)

Mr Voidling·12/15/2018, 7:17:31 PM·4 votes·2,082 views

Actually heavily based off the R of a champion of mine, Detias. Makes him very unique... And it's not like Detias is an actual champion anyway, so.

I did not create the art, check out the artist yourself. He would actually be holding a sword(not book) and be in the process of materialising a sword with his other hand. https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/intermediary/f/09d8c379-3e43-4e63-9d66-4ae4c16a42fb/d9fp32r-f8912bfa-7abb-4e72-9e80-bbf9aef218fb.jpg/v1/fill/w_774,h_1032,q_70,strp/mobius_final_fantasy___scholar___by_dopaprime_d9fp32r-pre.jpg https://www.deviantart.com/dopaprime

Abilities

Passive: Iron Hail

Every 3 seconds Atlas conjures a sword that falls from the sky randomly nearby(300 radius) after a 0.5s delay dealing 50-150+(25% Ability Power) Physical damage in a 100 radius upon impact. Swords last 5 seconds while on the ground and have a 40 unit collision radius. If an enemy champion walks over a Sword it will deal 5% Max Health as Physical damage and destroy the Sword.

If Atlas has no Sword then he picks up one when walking over it or clicking on it(100 units), and gains a 5% Max Health shield for 0.5 seconds. Held swords last 4 seconds.

Atlas has 175 range and +(30% Ability Power) Bonus On-hit Physical Damage while holding a Sword, but has 100 attack range with no bonus damage without a Sword.

Material Conversion: All damage from Atlas is converted into Physical damage, and all Bonus Attack Damage is converted into Ability Power.

Q: Piercing Steel | CD 2/1.9/1.8/1.7/1.6 | Cost 30/35/40/45/50 +1 Sword | Range 650

Atlas throws his sword in a straight line dealing 70/95/120/145/175+(50% Ability Power) Physical damage, decreased by 10% for each enemy hit down to a minimum of 50%. If the Sword hits another Sword then it shatters both and causes a 250 unit aoe that deals the same damage.

Passive: Increases held Sword time by 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds.

W:Silver Comet | CD 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 | Cost 50/60/70/80/90 | Range 600

Atlas conjures a Sword in an area that falls from the sky after 0.5 seconds. The Sword acts like passive but stuns enemies hit for 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds. If the Sword hits another Sword then it shatters both and causes a 250 unit aoe that stuns for 1 additional second and deals the same damage.

Passive: Increases ground Sword time by 1.5/3/4.5/6/7.5 seconds.

E: Metal Edge | CD 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 | Cost 60/65/70/75/80| Range 500

Atlas pulls a targeted sword toward him and gains a 30% movement speed that decays over 2 seconds. Deals 30/60/90/120/150+(40% Ability Power) Physical damage to enemies passed through, and slows for 20% for 2 seconds. If the Sword hits another Sword then it shatters both and causes a 250 unit aoe that stuns for 1 second and deals the same damage.

Passive: Increases Sword shield by granting 20/27.5/35/42.5/50% attack speed for the duration. Lengthens shield by 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds.

R: Sharpen | CD 160/120/80

Atlas Enhances his next cast ability within 5 seconds.

Sharpened Q: Throws a larger sharpened blade 1,250 units that deals 225/350/475+(100% Ability Power) as Physical damage. Still decreased down to 50% minimum damage. This Sword shatters all Swords passed through without breaking, causing 50% damage in a 250 aoe. Sharpened W: Rains down 1 blade every 0.4 seconds in a 400 area that lasts 4/6/8 seconds. These Swords don't stun and won't shatter others when falling. Every other Sword prioritizes champions. Sharpened E: Gathers all Swords in a 500 unit area, each additional Sword increases shield effects by 50/75/100% of their values decreased by 10/15/20% for each sword(max of +150/225/300% at 5 additional swords), and slow is increased to 40/60/80%.

Passive: Increases Iron Hail's range by 50/100/150, and decreases Iron Hail's cooldown by 0.5/1/1.5 seconds.

Lore

Atlas works as a strategist for Demacia's armies, only joining the fight when absolutely needed. Of course he is only ever needed when he plans that out. He has been renowned all over Demacia for his skills in analyzing warfare and planning 2 steps ahead. Atlas has a strong thirst for knowledge and tactical ideas, but also a secret fancy towards the arts of magic. Given Demacia's relationship with magic users Atlas decided that he would need to mask any trace of his hidden works. And reworked all magic he learned, with exceptional skill he had mastered removing all traces and residue his magic originally left behind; essentially he had turned his magic into temporal reality, with true physical form. Time to time he joined battles and rained defeat down on his opponents, with blades befalling all who opposed him. Atlas fights with all shapes of blades, in an attempt to convey the message that any blade is only as powerful as the wielder, and that he is indeed powerful. Atlas even started to write his own scripts of magic, trying to expand his fields of specialty; this lasted about a year until one day some of his scripts had turned up missing... He was put on edge due to a potential finding out about his habits. He searched for a thief, prowling the halls at night... But he would not let this intrigue consume him, as evidence towards a thief was of naught. One night he caught a glimpse of magic light as he jumped awake, he grabbed his coat and ran down the halls; pushing the door open he snuck around closer to the source... Turning the corner of the walls he saw a young blonde woman. Whether she had taken his script or not there was no clarity, but one thing was certain... Magic. She was practicing magic. He returned to his chambers perplexed; should he keep it quiet? He himself had an interest in magic, so it would betray his own morals to apprehend her. In the morning he decided that he would let an alternate party be the deciding factor in his dilemma. He asked the nearby leaders if any of them had heard suspicions about a young blonde woman, amidst his inquiry Kahina of the Radiant Ones hastily approached Atlas. After talking for a bit he decided to allow Kahina to take a group and investigate at night, to discretely follow her and figure out what she was doing. The following morning Kahina had returned and relayed all information to Atlas. It came as a shock that the Illuminators granted her an alternate to being exiled, but it gave him hope and allowed him to continue himself with his own magical pursuits. Maybe even lend an unknown hand in the girls training, both tactical and magical. If she could one day prove worthy of his teachings that is.

How does he work? Well his basic attacks are garbage without holding a Sword, but get really strong when holding one. He can benefit from standard AD items. item 3146 and item 3812 are exceptionally good items on him. item 3165 item 3020 and item 3135 are terrible buys.

His passive is pretty weak by itself. But free damage??? No... It is random. It could land in front behind or even on you. And at max it deals 150+25%AP, whereas a single Karthus Q deals 130+30%AP and can deal double damage... Even Blitz R passive deals 300+20%AP every 2.5 seconds. But is has 5% more ratio??? It would take 3,000AP for his passive to deal the same amount as Blitz. Not to mention the starting 300 aoe is as small as Amumu's puddle of tears... It does get up to Karthus defile size, but that also adds to the random locations it can spawn.

You can try slamming W behind an enemy and then pulling with E toward another Sword for a cheeky play, or slamming it down with a followup Q. If you time it correctly you can even Use W and then pull with E as W is falling to shatter mid-pull.

It is sorta hard to think of an Inquisitor-y kind of lore in League's world isn't it? Seems like it would fit Demacia but their hatred for magic stands in the way. I think the best faction would be Piltover and making him sort of a young, self-taught metalmancer could work out.

that passive seems op. he just drops random swords from the sky every 4 seconds with pretty good base damage.

I think a personality description or lore might help decide where he might be from, but if he's more on the sketchy side I think it would it would make more sense for him to be from Zaun. If he's a wealthy person, then most likely Piltover. Also I don't think he would be from Mt.Targon cause most magic is something astral related, or they don't have magic at all. Lastly, the last place I think he could fit (if he is a scary, closed of individual) is the Shadow Isles, if his lore his some warrior coming back from the dead, it could very much be a perfect fit for him. Again, I feel like most of this is much easier to determine with a lore or background of somesort. Still I think its a cool idea.

Gilgamesh from Fate series, is that you?!

I'd personally place him in Demacia. Yes, he uses magic...but technically speaking, its essentially Requip magic from Fairy Tail, and he essentially fights like Gilgamesh from the Fate series. That's not beyond Demacia's domain...I mean, they have Lux. :P

Actual rating incoming soon.

Alright...couple aesthetic and gameplay things: why does it pull from a line? to make the empowered E work? It'd be a lot simpler if you could just target a sword in range and select it. Doing it that way can also make them shatter by pulling one sword through another if you chose to have that (giving you bonus dmg to that little area, but not the microstun like on your W.) for extra combo potential, and it means you can choose to NOT pull the sword you're trying to proc passively while fighting. For the empowered one, he can just pull all swords from an area.

Your empowered W seems to also be rather RNG based. May want to have some consistency to it by making it based off some sort of pattern, or by prioritizing champions standing within the zone as the landing point.
