Character Concept: Mortimer Malice, The Forgotten Artifact

MaeFire·2/22/2016, 7:49:08 AM·4 votes·753 views

Summary of following idea: Mortimer Malice is a long forgotten, self aware automaton who uses himself as his weapon. He is a champion that revolves around becoming tankier over building damage items. He can dish out high amounts of initial dmg, but at the cost of his tankiness, which leaves him vulnerable

Passive- _Regeneration _- Mortimer can regenerate lost body parts, based on CDR and Level. Each time a limb regenerates, Mortimer gets a % of his hp back.

Q-_ An Arm_ - Mortimer fires one of his arms at an enemy, dealing dmg based on his AD, Armor and, MR. This skill holds 2/4/6 charges with a .5 second cooldown. Each time a limb is fired, Mortimer loses the passive armor and magic resist equal to amount of limbs fired.

Auto-Attack- Eye laser without arms, small energy blast from hands with limbs

Passive- Natural Evolution - Each arm provides a flat amount of Armor and MR.

((If an enemy is hit, Regeneration begins a countdown immediately. If the limb misses, The enemy can "step" on it to deal dmg to Mortimer. Mortimer can also pick it up to make it instantly reusable at the cost of his passive.)

W- _And a leg _- Mortimer launches a rocket powered kick at the enemy, dealing dmg based on his AD, Armor, and MR. After losing a leg, his movement speed is lowered. Losing both legs enables Back Up Thrusters.

Passive- Back Up Thrusters - When both legs are gone, Mortimer gains a hefty Movement Speed bonus, as his torso enables thrusters.

E- Enhanced Optics - Mortimer can activate this skill to place one of his eyes a medium distance away. If an enemy attacks his eye, he loses some vision. When this skill is active, Mortimer can use it to farm from a distance, even with his arms attached.

Passive bonus- Detached eye fires slower, but deals more damage per shot

R-_ Mechanical Menace_ - Mortimer activates his Omega Protocols, and begins spawning uncontrollable versions of himself to rampage in the vicinity. These mindless versions deal a percentage of his damage, based on skill level. Each mechanical menace will use the same spells Mortimer does randomly.

This ability continues to spawn the mechanical menaces until Mortimer is killed, or 10 seconds pass. The mechanical menaces collapse after skills are exhausted.

Side note (His skills cost an arm and a leg. How funny is that? XD )

Can you please include the ranges of the abilities? It makes it much easier to tell if the kit is balanced or not.

This...is actually a pretty cool premise for a champion.

I like this. Pure and simple. Sort of like a different Zac. The one thing I would suggest is given that they're his arms, would it not make more sense to deal damage based on attack damage? I mean, I understand he's a robot, but rather than have his Armour and Magic resist go down, his attack damage should go down. All I'm imagining is this. How do you fight with no arms?

W- _And a leg _- Mortimer launches a rocket powered kick at the enemy, dealing dmg based on his armor and magic resist. After losing a leg, his movement speed is lowered. Losing both legs enables Back Up Thrusters.

Passive- Back Up Thrusters - When both legs are gone, Mortimer gains a hefty Movement Speed bonus, as his torso enables thrusters.

This is also a clever balance. I like that they essentially have to be fired in quick succession in order to get the bonus.

E- Enhanced Optics - Mortimer can activate this skill to place one of his eyes a medium distance away. If an enemy attacks his eye, he loses some vision.

This is also an extremely clever ability, and the balance of reduced vision is also a good idea. That said, it would be nice if it did a bit more though. While a free ward on an ability is nice, at the end of the day it doesn't really do much late game.

R-_ Mechanical Menace_ - Mortimer immediately grows back his limbs, and a second body is built nearby activated area. This second body gains the same damage as Mortimer, and can be manually moved. (shaco clone, leblanc illusion, etc.) If Mortimer dies while the second body is alive, he will transfer to that body with a % of his max hp.

This I'm honestly not too much of a fan of. I like the idea of all of his body parts flying back to him though. Perhaps he could recall all detached limbs within a certain distance to him, and they deal damage to whomever they pass through (think kind of like a Talon ult but instead of blades, it's your limbs).

Or he could explode first, then reassemble after a couple of seconds. Given that he's already throwing out arms and legs, why not go for broke and throw everything at them? Haha. This could also deal more damage the more limbs you have attached when you ult because you throw more out. But that's just me spit balling.

Side note (His skills cost an arm and a leg. How funny is that? XD )

And you just cemeted your +1 haha. This has got to be one of the most amusingly creative champs I've read in a while. Even without scaling, the concept of being able to dismantle yourself at part of your fighting is great. Nice idea!

You make a good point. My idea for him was to make him fit in kinda a galio range of things, where he is tanky, and his tankiness gives him damage. Perhaps a split scaling of AD, armor, and mr would be more useful, with the scaling being decent on each to give him that mid laner presence, but viable top lane. Also... You win +1 internet for the Monty Python thought.

Alright. I got to thinking about his auto attack and how to make this ability more useful. Along with your suggestion of an AD scaling (lord knows we could use another midlaner with ad), I came up with this: His auto attacks are charged lasers from his eyes. This skill now also gives you a passive that will essentially give you a super safe range to farm up, at the risk of the enemy coming in and just stepping on your eye.

This I'm honestly not too much of a fan of. I like the idea of all of his body parts flying back to him though. I will be reworking this so that it does something different than before.

I would definitely play this guy.... if I could save up the 6300 IP it would cost to get him. I am horrible at saving up IP. I think his E should also passively give him more vision than other champs.
