[CONCEPT] Talon, Assasin Rework!!
TALON | ASSASIN REWORK《CONCEPT》
Okay, here are my ideas and thoughts on the newly announced assasin rework. Talon isn't my favorite champion, however I do enjoy him more than a lot of other people to and I classify him as my main assasin champion. I first was upset I to hear that Rito was planning on making changes to the way Talon and Akali played. Instead of denying the fact that they were being changed, I decided to write a concept on the LoL boards to hopefully influence the way Riot reworked them to hopefully give them a more unique playstyle. Now without further hesitation... LEEEEEEETS GET ROOOOOOOIIIIGHT INTO THE CONCEEEEEEPT. #goodguykeem
First off, Riot states that they wanted this rework to make each assasin play differently and be worth picking. They want to make sure that each assasin has a unique playstyle. It is rummored that Talon and Akali will receive MAJOR changes, so I will be focusing on Talon because I play him more and have more experience with him.
Talons passive is without a doubt something that REALLY needs changes. If you are unfamiliar with what it is now, then i suggest looking it up on the official League of Legends Champion page. Anyway, I was thinking his passive could have a Kalista type of effect. Kalista can auto attack an enemy which leaves spears in them for a certain amount of time. I was thinking that talon could do the same, however instead of spears he leaves blades in his enemy. These blades can cause his enemy to be slowed (like Darius' passive accept with slow) from 10 - 50 percent for 3.5 seconds. Each hit of an ability or auto-attack will apply a stack of his passive. One blade - 10% slow, two blades - 20% slow, etc. This passive will synergize with my idea for his new Q but I'll get into that later. If his enemy reaches five stacks, talons auto attacks will do 5% max health damage to his target as bonus physical damage. Talon might overall need damage reduction on all of his abilities to make this passive not "OP" but I'm not an expert and this might need some tweeking. The amount of blades in his enemy can be infinite, however the stacking will stop at 5 and the extra blades will only surve purpose with his Q. Now let's move on to his Q.
His Q has always been a weird ability to me. It never seemed to fit his playstyle and just seemed like something that was just with talon and not a part of talon. I feel like with this new passive, this version of his Q will mean so much more for his gameplay. I'm sure you already guessed it, but yes it will be like Kalista's rend. His Q will do scaling damage to all enemies with blades in them. The damage increases for each blade trapped in his opponents body. If this ability kills a champion, then the cooldown on his Q, W, and E will all be reset. If the abilities are not used withing 5 seconds after the kill, then they will go on regular cooldown. This will be used to finish off targets and also allow him to have some 2 v 1 potential. Talon can now get in, do his combo, and then still provide AoE burst damage with his W and other abilities. This makes talon not be so "I kill you and then can't do anything", but rather "I might have a hard time killing you early game, but I can burst you in teamfights and still have a strong presence in the fight." This might make him weaker because he no longer has that Q auto reset for burst early, but rather has a better scaling kill secure for the mid - late game. This Q could also need an indicator to show when he can kill a target so that he can have have his reset. The Q also removes all blades from all enemy units and does damage to any unit with blades in them. It only resets on Champion kills. The Q can also only reset the W and E if the enemy has 5 or more blades in them upon activation. Now since his Q can synergize with his passive, we need abilities that can quickly stack the passive to 5 for the ability reset and make every ability feel conected.
Talons new W can be as it is right now, only with one minor change. Talons W should be more like his current ultimate. My idea is talon sends out a cone of blades that deal scaling physical damage. The difference here is that the ability must be reactivated to pull the blades back to him. This will allow for more interesting combo's and make talon feel a bit more that his staple combo. Now there is potential for diversity for the way he can delete a squishy. Each hit of his W will apply a stack of his passive. So sending them out is one, and pulling them back in is two. Adding an auto attack in his combo can provide for MORE stacks which can then lead to him using his ultimate as an escape. But again, that will be later on in this board. I'm sure you realized now that basically all of talons abilities slow because of his new passive. This is what I was going for, no assasin is able to apply consistent slows to a target enemy champion. This can surely make him be unique and different. Now let's move to his E.
Talons new E can stay the same-ish. I like keeping the idea of a blink so that he can get to his target, however NOW he is loosing a lot of damage in his kit. So, we can combine his Q with his E. I propose talons new E can blink to an enemy target and apply one stack to it. Seems simple and allows him to apply passive stacks. But talons next auto attack will be an AUTOMATIC CRIT. This will DEFINATLY mean reducing his AD scaling by a decent amount so that he doesn't become too OP. This will also mean building IE as a core item, which is kind of weird for an assasin (other than shaco) but HEY, diversity in items too would be nice. A little crit, some damage, a small amount of tanky movespeed and A LOT of CDR. Those stats are what make and assasin an assasin, however adding that small crit aspect can really make talon shine and stand out. Having an assasin who has the same build path as shaco but plays so differently can really bring more diversity to the assasin role. Now his final ability, his ultimate. Then we will go over his potential combo's and playstyles.
I feel it is important to keep talons ultimate the same. Yes, his ultimate going out and in will both apply one passive stack, however I believe it is one of talons most important tools. I feel with these new combo's he will be able to use his ultimate in more scenarios and have a better outcome in all of them. There wasn't much in this paragraph, however the combo's will be really important so PLEASE read them because they will basically make this champion while in such a different way than he does now.
COMBOS The number in the () will show how many passive stacks are on his targeted enemy champion.
Talon v Squishy: E (1) > AA-crit (2) > W-out (3) > W-in (4) > AA (5) > Q (0)... This will be talons way of killing a squishy in a pure 1 v 1 scenario. No ultimate needed to do the job.
Talon v Squishy (in 3-5 man group): E (1) > W-out (2) > AA-crit (3) > W-in (4) > Ult-out (5) > Q (0)... This combo will let talon go in to delete the ADC or Squishy mid/top with no problem. This also allows talon to use his ultimate as an escape. For he can Q for the kill AND walk away safely out of harms way.
Talon v Two Squishies: (Target 1) E (1) > W-out (2) > AA-crit (3) > W-in (4) > Ult-out (5) (invisibility) > Q (0) (Q, W, E RESET) (Target 2) E (1) > Ult-in (forced) (2) > W-out (3) > AA-crit (4) > W-in (5) > Q (0)... Let's say ADC and MID decide to take bot tower together. Your job as a Talon is to do this. Now if you are behind/even you might only be able to get kill because you simply don't have enough damage. It's okay, one kill will let you snowball as an assasin so that you eventually will be able to make plays like these.
Welp, there it is. Just a nice Talon concept I thought about last night, brought to life with my crappy Android keypad. I hope you guys enjoyed . Feel free to vote in the poll below and leave some suggestions in the comment section on what you think about my concept. And if you really want to make this board shine, share it with your friends. And if you don't have any like me, well isn't that what ingame chat is for? Get you spam bot ready... (kappa).
Edit #1: Talons crit after E will now scale with rank like Xin Zhao Crit passive. Also, only his first auto attack after 5 stacks will do 5% max health bonus physical damage. After talons first blade is stuck in an enemy, talon has 3.5 seconds to do his full combo. So once his E connets, any CC or movement spell like Ezreal Flash spell can throw talon off and mess up his combos.
Edit #2: Since talons blades slow, ADCs can counter him if he gets fed with QSS so that he cannot finish then off with rend. Same with cleanse, this will allow for people to counter him in lane. Now lissandra WON'T be the the only mid laner you take cleanse against.
