A thoughtful discussion about fiddlesticks rework and story Part 1/3 (reupload)

Hello everyone! I had these ideas a few nights ago about fiddle and i thought id share them all. Now I understand riot has most likely made up their mind to what the rework is going to be, so this first part will be about abilities id love to see or that i think would fit his theme, regardless if anyone sees this or not. Please feel free to give me feedback on this, so in the future i can maybe think about other champ kits as well.

So, as i said, this is about his VGU kit. From what we know the theme is going to stay the same, ambush mage that focuses on terror. They said they are keeping a point and click cc and his current ult, but nothing else. They also released a test model so we have a better understanding of what he looks like. Here is what I think would be abilities that keep his theme, but isn't stupidly overloaded, while also keeping what we love about old fiddle.

Passive: Terrify- 1.5 second fear - 2.5 as game goes on. Terror bar, adds 5 points for each auto attack, 10 for ability damage. (ex. if he ults, and hits all ticks, 50 terror is added.) Damage to non epic monsters give twice the terror, and the fear becomes 2.5 seconds baseline. (10 on auto, 20 ability dmg) Terror gradually starts ticking down after 3 seconds if not being attacked by fiddle, but fiddle can reset the timer by hitting the target again.

So the base of this is to move his current Q to his passive, and ill explain why. I'm thinking he should have a sort of 'terror meter' on enemy champions (and non epic monsters) that gradually fills up when he hits attacks and spells. Taking a page from renekton, when terror is 50 or more, (the max amount is 100) his abilities do an extra effect, at least in most abilities. Once the terror bar is filled, it resets to 0, and applies the fear to the enemy that we have now, albeit a bit weaker. I'm thinking it scales from 1.5 baseline, level 9 to 2 seconds, level 13 2.25 and finally at level 16 (or even 18) max the fear at 2.5. That way he would be keeping his fear, but also making it so instead of it being point and click cc where you cant do anything, to a passive that he needs to stack up to have the cc go off, or spend some of that terror (i will get to that in a bit) and trade off an extra ability effect but not fear the target. Id think it would give a bit of counterplay to him.

Q: Eviscerate/Fear's grasp= Fiddle swipes his massive metal claw in an arc, damaging targets in a medium sized area (think annie w range). After swiping, he can recast this ability to quickly wind up, and lunge in a direction, not enough for a dash but like galios E. If he hits a target, it deals damage, if its a champion however, when he hits the champ, he grabs them and rips the claw away, dealing more dmg and slowing briefly (i'm thinking 25%-45% for 2 seconds per rank, decaying over that short time ,but if its too much, i woulden't add the slow). If the target has above 50 terror, the first cast aoe swipe will instead slow for 35% for 1.5 seconds, and the second cast lunge/grab will do an extra chunk of dmg on the pull. (i'm thinking 2%-6% max hp with a smaller ap scaling so it isnt abused) This empowered version on the second cast will consume 25 terror.

This is a skillshot, and it must be added the 'grab' he does after the lunge isn't like a hook grab or a movement ability, its just like that for a thematic reason, as he has caught up to his victim and is trying to, for example, cut his tendons to prevent escape. This ability will not move them, only slow. I think this would be a decent source of damage and small cc in ganks, and the first cast of it would be good for waveclear and jungle clear, but not too strong that it makes him the fastest fiddle in the west, so to speak.

W: Siphon Hope= This is the point and click cc i was talking about, but it has a catch. This would be the replacement for drain, but do sort of the same thing. Fiddle clicks a target, throwing a spectral scythe at them and 'linking the target to him' with the scythe grabbing them. While tethered, he deals dmg and heals for a flat amount per tick of the tether. Fiddle can also move while the tether is active, but it takes a decent amount of time for the spell to hit the target, as it has a small window where the scythe is flying at them. When the target is hit with this spell, he gains a small movespeed boost for 1.5 seconds (like his current passive) This will deal damage over a 4-5 second period, in which if the target is still in tether range when it ends, he rips the scythe out, and roots the target for 1.5 seconds (think ryze old w but not instant) This ability will consume terror and deplete the bar, up to a max of 50 terror. Depending on the amount used, the ability will deal more dmg and increase the flat healing gained. (like trundle w does) If the target had at least 50 terror when the spell connected, the damage is increased substantially, and the healing turns from a flat amount to a % of fiddles health (it would be lower to not be abused, i'm thinking 5%-10% max hp total healing, not per second.) The damage of this ability is lower than his other abilities, and is more of a utility, surviveability spell while ganking or in the jungle.

This is a click spell with a cc attached, but it requires planning on ganks, since it actually uses up to half of your terror on them and prevents you from getting any other ability's extra effects, so its more of a risk reward type ability. Do i use this at the start of a gank to catch up to them for my other spells while risking them breaking the tether and getting away? Or do i forgo the drain until the end to make use of my extra effects, while getting rid of my sustain. This i feel would keep the old theme of this ghastly creature literally feeding on your terror (like pennywise from IT) to become stronger, but not keep the tediousness of just standing still in the open draining someone hoping they cant stun you and instantly break the chain.

E: Dark Wind= Now I had a hard time thinking about this one since it was either dark wind, or something completely new. Feedback on this one especially would be perfect because it tells me if i'm on the right track or not. The name is the same as current, and his only really 'ranged' ability (since fiddle has always had to get close to you to really use his main abilities effectively) This version, however, is a skillshot. Fiddle sends out a murder of crows in a line at the targeted area, crows that hit enemies deal damage and applies grievous wounds for a short time (2 seconds at most, so it would be like varrus e but not in a stationary area) This ability has a small wind up time, in where the path hes aiming is slightly visible, giving you the opportunity to dodge it. If the enemy has at least 50 terror, the ability is empowered, making crows that hit the target latch on and keep attacking for 2 seconds, dealing more damage, and silencing the first champion hit for 1 second. The empowered version consumes 25 terror.

Yes, you saw right, poor fiddle no longer has the point and click 2.5 second silence. Personally i felt this part of his kit was more toxic than the point and click fear because instead of silencing the first target hit, it will silence every target hit at least once, and bounces, prioritizing champions if being drained. A brand ult equivalent bouncing ability with an added silence is quite powerful in a teamfight setting, especially if he has cdr and there's no minions to tank the bounces, so it bounces between most of the enemy. It has now been turned into a basic skillshot dmg ability, and it takes more time to get to the silence, instead of having it for free just by clicking. It also gives the enemy a chance to dodge it, which before was a game of chance to see if the bird bounces to you or not.

The reason why i had this ability stay the same, also, is homage to old fiddle in a way. Now i dont mean kit wise, but if you all remember the old cinematic trailer for the new map, i believe its called A twist of fate, you see fiddle point at tf, and a ravenous flock of birds come out at him at around the 40 second mark. I know this is supposed to be more like crowstorm in the cinematic, but i think it should be its own ability, seeing fiddle having some kind of command over the crows, having them savagely peck and rend the enemy, only to have them vanish like they were never there, perhaps being a figment of your tormented and fearful mind. If its too similar to his ultimate, id need to think of a new effect, but the base premise of the ability would be the same.

R: Crowstorm= Now this is the least changed of all his abilities, the sole caviot being the passive movespeed he gets in the current game with his passive, is now attached to the ult.

Fiddlesticks channels to the target location and blinks after the channel time stops, attacking everyone around him with a massive flock of shadowy birds (and perhaps other terrifying things), gaining a small amount of bonus movespeed while running at an enemy champion (15% 25% 35% based on points spent) If fiddle hits 2 or more targets with the ult, the movespeed bonus is doubled. The speed lasts for 2 or 2.5 seconds, and the ult lasts for 5 seconds still. I was thinking of adding a terror bonus to this ult as well, but it didn't seem right since out of combat, the terror would gradually dissipate, and the only way you get terror on the enemy is by hitting them, so it would be counterproductive to just run face first into them, smack them around, and THEN channel the ult in their face.

Final notes on abilities and overall balance, i thought about adding a sort of leblanc rework like passive to fiddle wherein after 5 minutes, you can spawn a clone in any bush on the map, with 2 charges of the clone, the limit being 3 on the map at one time, that pops out at the enemy if it gets too close with a fake q lunge. If the enemy triggers it, the cooldown is reduced by 30 seconds. It takes 2 minutes for the charges to reset. Riot said they wanted to keep the idea of mass paranoia and terror of fiddle being anywhere at anytime and your mind playing tricks on you, so i thought this would be a neat addition, however i think it would add one ability too many, since there's no real place to put it, unless you were to make it like zilean passive, so fiddle would have to click himself and then click a bush on the map to spawn it. The ability power ratios on his abilities would be around 30% for the swipe and 40% for the lunge if he hits the target, the drain being 30% and the ult being whatever it is now. The empowered versions of q would up the ratios by 10% (so 40% swipe and 50% lunge on q) The empowered other abilities however would stay the same most likely but add extra base dmg instead of the ratios itself. The last thing i wanted to say about this is if he does indeed intend to be changed to a melee champion, i would keep all of the abilities the same but the first

Q(if melee): Eviscerate= Fiddle empowers his next auto attack to lunge a short distance at the target grabbing onto them with his metal arm, doing damage. If he is still next to them after 2 seconds when the ability ends, he will rip the claw away, applying the slow like in the base ranged ability, but being a weaker version, 1.5 second 25% slow, the empowered version also being the same as the previous with the extra % hp dmg, but the slow would be increased to 50% for 2 seconds.

This is my idea of what i think fiddle rework should be, this terrifying amalgamation of metal and straw, chasing his prey like a madman, making you flee in fear, while getting stronger the more scared you are. Once you think you are safe and start to calm down, you start to hear crows, soft at first, but gradually getting louder, after which you suddenly see a massive swarm of birds coming straight for you, as if under some trance, while in a small gap of the birds, the last thing you see before you are shredded to pieces is this lumbering thing, laughing and slowly walking to you, letting it be the last thing you see and feel be pure terror before you die. I would love any additions or feedback for my thoughts, and if by chance a rioter sees this, id love their opinion on these ideas, because ive started a little side project of brainstorming future champion VGU kits, and i more mean the ones after volibear and fiddle. I do however have ideas for volibear as well, but ill save that for the third post i make. I thank you for your time in reading this, and i really do hope you stay and offer me the feedback i ask for, and once more, if a rioter sees this, id also like your input as well, without spoiling how the rework is actually doing of course. Hope you all have a good day!

Part 2 and 3 of my posts will be in the art, story and sound forum, talking about fiddlesticks mini story that comes with each champ release or rework besides the bio, and a potential idea for a teaser trailer for the champion, like the did with all (most) of the new champions and reworks. Hope to see you all there as well!
