Champion Concept - Val'Ruk, the Jungle's Revenge
Hello, everyone. This is something I posted on the Champion Ideas Forum on the League site, and a friend suggested I try running by you all on the reddit. So, with that in mind, I present to you Val Ruk, the Jungle's Revenge.
Overview:
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Origin: Unknown (the location of the village Lee Sin destroyed hasn't been revealed, I don't think. Val Ruk is from that village).
Alliance/Alignment: Ionia/Evil (revenge plot)
Class: AD Carry/AD Burst Caster
Subclass: Ranged, Carry, Ninja (:3)
Weapon: Senbon - Large Metal Combat Needles used as throwing weapons.
Attack Type: Ranged
Energy Source: Energy.
Theme: Val Ruk is theme-based; the abilities came after. I wanted something involved with Lee Sin's original "sin" of accidentally blowing up that village, which gave me the idea of a doctor who had traveled to Ionia to learn more about their medical practices who survived the destruction. I liked the idea of acupuncture being part of his practice, giving me the idea for the senbon as weapons (large needles). The ninja and energy system go hand in hand, but I wanted to stay away from a typical ‘ninja’ theme in order to keep him unique, hence the jungle theme. Val'Ruk can be played either as an AD Burst Caster or as a typical Ranged AD Carry.
To that end, you might notice that I made his natural attack speed progression absolute crap. There's a reason for this: to give incentive to make a clear choice between bulking up on attack damage as an AD caster or to benefit from the passive boost to attack speed from your attack speed items. I specifically excluded his masteries and runes in that equation for that goal. This will give clear rewards and tradeoffs to building him on either of his two build paths.
Physical Description:
Height: 6' 3"
Build: Large and muscular, tribal tattoos up and down his heavily toned arms.
Hair Color/Style: Black and shoulder length with long bangs in front.
Skin: Chocolate Brown.
Eye Color: Yellow.
Attire (EDITED): Honestly, I'm not quite certain how I want to go with this now. I'd love to do like a jungle/shinobi fusion theme for his attire, but I'm a bit concerned as to how much like Udyr that might end up having him look. So, long story short, he's a jungle ninja, so he might sport brown clothing and furs along with typical shinobi assets, such as jiki-tabi and a face mask.

Abilities
Passive - Chi Infusion
(Innate) After every fifth spell cast, Val Ruk's next spell will become empowered with Chi, granting an additional effect based on the spell used. All spells under the effect of Chi Infusion refund (10/15/20/25) Energy. This energy refund applies only to the first target hit for each activation of a spell.
Ability 1 (Q) - Merciless Senbon
Cost - 70/65/60/55/50 Energy
Cooldown - 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds
Individual Skill Shot Damage - 15/30/45/60/75 (+25% per bonus attack damage)
Maximum Damage - 45/90/135/170/215 (+75% per bonus attack damage)
Range - 125-800
Minimum Total Area of Effect Width - 30º at half point.
Skill Shot Width - 80
(Active) Val Ruk infuses his senbon with Chi and throws three skill shot needles at the opponent in the shape of an oval, two skill shots arcing around the sides and the third shooting straight, dealing physical damage to all targets they hit. An opponent hit at the tip of the skill shot will take greater damage. The arcs of the two outside skill shots will widen out depending upon where in the skill shot's range the spell is targeted, but the middle skill shot will always shoot straight. If the skill shot is targeted close to Val Ruk, the arcs widen drastically and curve sharply to intersect with each other. If the skill shot is targeted at the maximum range, the arcs become shallower to a minimum of a 30º on either side at the skill shot's half way point. For the purposes of spell shields, such as Sivir's Spell Shield or Banshee's Veil's Passive, each senbon counts as a separate spell.
(Chi Infusion) - Merciless Senbon's damage is increased by 10%, and its range is increased by 150.
Ability 2 (W) - Chi Disrupt
Cost - 70 Energy
Range - 600
Damage - 100/145/190/225/270 (+60% per bonus attack damage)
Cooldown - 14/13/12/11/10
(Passive) - Val Ruk's powerful Chi enhances his reflexes, giving him an additional (5%/6.25%/7.5%/8.75%/10%) additional attack speed from all attack speed items and buffs, stacking additively. This bonus does not include base attack speed, nor does it include bonuses from runes or masteries.
(Active) - Val Ruk focuses his Chi and throws a vibrating senbon which homes in on the target, dealing physical damage and lowering the target's attack damage by (10/15/20/25/30) for 2 seconds. Val Ruk loses his passive attack speed bonuses until Chi Disrupt's cooldown refreshes.
(Extra) - Using Chi Disrupt reset's Val Ruk's auto-attack timer.
(Chi Infusion) - Chi Disrupt's attack damage reduction is increased by .5 seconds, and its cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds.
Ability 3 (E) - Utsusemi
Cost - 60 Energy
Primary Teleport Range - 300
Secondary Teleport Radius - 300
Cooldown - 16/15/14/13/12
(Active) Selecting a target friendly unit or ward, Val Ruk dematerializes and inhabits the character's shadow for (1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2) seconds. Val'Ruk must wait half a second before activating the ability again to rematerialize. If Val Ruk possesses a stealth ward, the ward is revealed to all enemies in visual range and can be attacked by the enemy team. If the ward is in a bush, it is revealed to opponents in that same bush. While inhabiting the shadow, Val Ruk is untargetable, but he cannot use other spells or abilities, and he cannot attack. He can activate this ability again within the time limit to materialize at the location closest to his cursor. If Val Ruk's teleport point is more than half-way through a barrier or wall, he will materialize on the other side of the wall. This does not grant any additional protections to his teammates; if the host of his shadow is killed, Val Ruk materializes at the fallen champion, minion, or ward's location.
(Chi Infusion) - The radius for each activation of Utsusemi is increased by 100.
Ability 4 - Ultimate (R) - Shadow's Bite
Energy - 15 Energy per cast, 45 for all three casts
Skill Shot Range - 1100
Burst Cone Range - 1100
Burst Cone Radius - 40º
Skill Shot Damage - 50/70/90 (+20% per bonus attack damage)
Burst Cone Damage - 50/70/90 (+25% per bonus attack damage)
Maximum Damage to One Enemy - 300/420/540 (+135% bonus attack damage)
Cooldown Between Each Shot - 1.5 seconds
Cooldown - 150/120/90
(Active) Concentrating a large amount of Chi and shadows into his senbon, Val Ruk fires out a single needle in a skill shot while a cone of shadows forms beneath it, dealing physical damage to all enemies it hits and reducing their armor by (10/20/30) for 4 seconds. This armor reduction does not stack, but the duration is refreshed each time Vengeful Storm hits an opponent. Then, after a brief delay of (.75 seconds), the cones will erupt from the ground, dealing more physical damage to anyone in the area. Each cast of Shadow's Bite after the first has a cooldown of .5 seconds, which cannot be reduced by cooldown reduction. Each time Shadow's Bite damages an enemy champion, Val Ruk regains (5) energy per enemy champion hit, and this effect applies to each skill shot hitbox. This energy regen is not triggered by the damage dealt by the shadow cones. Val Ruk can activate this ability up to 3 times within a 7 second period before it goes on cooldown.
Lore:
Val Ruk was not originally a warrior. Instead, he had been a doctor in his home village. Interested in non-traditional medicine, he traveled to Piltover for the sake of learning more about their medical techniques. Soon, however, a plague broke out in his village, and his medical prowess could only do so much. Hearing of Ionia's unusual yet effective medicinal practices, and fearing how much of a toll the plague would take on his village if nothing was done, he traveled there as well, hoping to bring what he learned back to his village to help cure sicknesses and diseases. He acquired much knowledge during his trip, most noteworthy being a mastery of the art of acupuncture. When Val Ruk finally returned home after years of research, he was horrified to find that everything he had held dear had been obliterated, scorched, smoking ground being all that was left of his home. The Institute's representatives conveyed the news that a recent summoning ritual had gone awry, the magical feedback obliterating his entire village. Filled with grief, Val Ruk returned to Ionia, a place that had become a second home to him.
When he arrived, he walked through Ionia's many gardens, hoping to find some sort of peace. Such efforts were proving to be in vain until he happened upon a conversation between two Shojin monks of the incident... and one of them made mention of a new arrival at the monastery, a young summoner seeking to atone for a great sin. Hearing of this, Val Ruk's blood boiled with a desire for vengeance; he knew that it could not simply be coincidence. Knowing he would need power to get his revenge, Val Ruk sought out the Kinkou, having learned of them on his first journey to Ionia. Stumbling unwittingly into Kinkou territory, Val Ruk pleaded to be taught the ways of the ninja, but he was turned away for the uncontrolled anger in his heart. Enraged, he wandered through the mountains and forests of Ionia. On the verge of death, he was met by Zed who, after sensing his vengeful spirit, offered to train him in exchange for his servitude. Val Ruk did so without hesitation. For years, he trained his body and mind with a steely focus and white-hot rage, the needles which once healed now becoming his weapon of choice. He soon made a name for himself with his particularly large reserves of Chi and his unquenchable thirst for revenge, and he stood at Zed's side as they executed Shen's father and drove the Eye of Twilight from the temple. Val Ruk still serves the infamous Zed, using his master's presence as a means to achieving his vengeance.
