Champion Concept

A slow and clumsy but powerful juggernaught who excels at bringing his lackies with him to the battlefield and limiting enemy movement. He's got no mobility to get in close with, and almost everything he does comes with a delay.



Lore

A fat and lazy dreamlander who somehow won the loyalty of a horde of monsters. Calls himself the King, but nobody really seems to respect his authority. A common thorn in Kirby's side, but not without surprising bouts of heroism on occasion.

He's pretty harmless, for the most part.

Abilities


Innate: Go, Waddle Dees!

King Dedede brought his army with him, and his presence calls them to join in with the ordinary minions.

Every 3rd minion wave for the lane in which King Dedede is residing in is joined by two Waddle Dees or Waddle Doos, alternating. They will march alongside the normal minions until reaching King Dedede.

Starting at level 9, King Dedede's soldiers will instead march directly to his location, spawning with Homeguard, which ends early if they reach King Dedede before the effect ends. Starting at level 15, both varieties of soldier will spawn with every 2nd wave.

Waddle Dees are statistically identical to melee minions, and Waddle Doos are statically identical to caster minions. While moving alongside a minion wave, they mimic the ordinary behavior of minions. While King Dedede is nearby, they deal bonus physical damage on-hit to enemy units, take reduced damage from area of effect abilities, and will follow him closely out of lane. Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos gain 20 bonus movement speed while following King Dedede.

King Dedede's soldiers will prioritize attacking the last enemy or structure he damaged or the target of Inhale!, and will pass any kill bounty they earn to him. Enemy turrets treat them as being identical to minions, but will target King Dedede if they deal damage to their allied champions.

Only two Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos each can be present on the map at a given time. If the maximum amount is already present, they will delay spawning.

Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos cannot be targeted by abilities that interact specifically with minions, and do not benefit from any minion-specific buffs.

Q: A Mighty Slam!

Cost: 30/35/40/45/50 mana Initial Cast Range: 275 Maximum Cast Range: 500 Displacement range: 350 Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds

First Cast: King Dedede raises his hammer high in the target direction for 4 seconds, during which time A Mighty Slam's! damage increases over the first 1.5 seconds. During this time he can move but cannot attack or cast other abilities, is slowed by 10%, and cannot change directions.

Second Cast: King Dedede brings his hammer down, dealing physical damage to enemies in front of him and slowing them for 1 second. If the ability was charged for at least 1 second, he also knocks damaged enemies away from him before applying the slow, with non-champions being knocked twice as far and then stunned for the duration instead.

Gordos within the affected range are also knocked away from King Dedede.

Passive: King Dedede periodically stores a Gordo, up to a maximum amount stored at once.

Active: King Dedede hurls a Gordo in the direction of the target location, which deals physical damage to the first enemy it touches and slows them for 1 second before bouncing past them for an extended range without damaging other enemies. The Gordo lands after traveling as far as it can, becoming an untargetable and invulnerable trap on the battlefield for 1 minute. Enemies cannot travel through a Gordo by any means.

If the target location is within 200 units of King Dedede, he instead drops the Gordo at the target location.

If the maximum number of Gordos are already placed, placing a new one will destroy the oldest one.

Enemies that dash into or are displaced into a Gordo are stopped upon touching it, dealt physical damage, and are stunned for .75 seconds. If the Gordo is displaced by A Mighty Slam!, Inhale!, or CHARGE! MWA HA HA!, it deals the same damage to enemies it passes through, but slows them by 90% for the same duration instead of stunning them.

Gordos cannot be moved through walls by any means and will instead bounce off of them at a 90 degree angle and travel for its remaining distance.

Active: King Dedede tethers himself to the target enemy or Gordo, and begins channeling for up to 4 seconds as he attempts to inhale them.

Gordos, enemy minions, and small monsters are swallowed automatically after .5 seconds.

Enemy champions and large monsters are instead grounded and dragged gradually toward King Dedede at a certain movement rate, increasing by up to 50% the closer they are to him. While attempting to move against the drag, the target enemy is effectively slowed, and they are instead sped up while moving toward it. Tethered enemies can otherwise act freely.

While channeling, King Dedede cannot be affected by enemy crowd control, but the dragging affect will temporarily disable for the duration of any disabling crowd control affects that would otherwise be placed on him. The grounding will not be disabled, however.

If the target enemy is dragged to within melee range of him or are within his Inhale range at any time after 3 seconds, he swallows them for a duration. Enemy champions are swallowed for half the duration.

Swallowed enemies become suppressed and untargetable and have their shared vision removed. King Dedede cannot move, attack, or cast other abilities while he holds an enemy in his belly, but takes reduced damage and becomes immune to crowd control.

Once he has inhaled an enemy, King Dedede can recast the ability after 1.5 seconds to apply an effect depending on the target:

-Gordos are spat in the target direction. -Enemy minions and small monsters are consumed, dealing them 1000 true damage, healing King Dedede, and refunding 40 mana and reducing the cooldown of Inhale! by 4 seconds. -Enemy champions and large monsters take physical damage and are spat a short distance in the target direction.

Passive: King Dedede can control (1/2/3) extra Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos at once.

Active: King Dedede summons a wide swarm of Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos to charge down the target direction, with a new wave appearing every .75 seconds, up to 6 waves. Each soldier deals physical damage to the first enemy it touches, and each wave spawns an extra Waddle Doo and Waddle Dee to follow King Dedede, up to his maximum amount. Enemies can only take damage once per wave, and are dealt 15% less damage per wave, down to 40% minimum. The soldiers cannot travel through walls.

Gordos are also flung onto the battlefield alongside the soldier waves, up to King Dedede's maximum amount, and are distributed randomly in the affected area. The soldiers will also knock any standing Gordos a short distance in the direction they're charging, once per Gordo per cast.

Overview

King Dedede is a juggernaught who presents a threat for enemies to deal with in that he can knock enemies around as he pleases while fighting them with a small squad of soldiers backing him up. His ultimate, meanwhile, can spread wide havoc across an area of his choosing. Lastly, Inhale! calls on enemies to focus on him, lest he eat one of thier allies and knock them into his team.

King Dedede is most-known for his bumbling, his mighty hammer, his army, and his mimicry of Kirby's iconic flight and inhalation abilities. His army he brought with him, in the form of his chronically-inept Waddle Dees and slightly more effective Waddle Doos. These appear alongside minions as part of his passive and attempt to aid him in battle. While they may seem harmless at first glance, they're not quite as easily killed as regular minions thanks to his aoe damage reduction he offers them, and they can pack a heavier punch than normal. Trying to trade with King Dedede when his soldiers are focusing you is not a good call.

The Dees and Doos are somewhat overshadowed by possibly the most iconic Kirby enemy, the passively lethal Gordo, which remains motionless, waiting to punish anybody trying to walk into them. Much of King Dedede's kit revolves around moving enemies around - preferably into Gordos - or moving Gordos into them. He's the sort to throw his weight around, after all. The Dees and Doos aren't completely forgotten, though, as King Dedede is able to knock enemies into them, or hold them in place with Inhale! while they're restrained and busy trying not to get eaten by their King.

All in all, King Dedede and his spread clumsy yet effective havoc wherever they go.
