Champion Concept: Celeste, The Cosmic Gatekeeper
Celeste is designed as an support champion, focused on being skillshot heavy while having unique mechanics to augment the effectiveness of skillshots, adding especially to poke compositions. I hope you enjoy.
Note that I'm just putting out the concept, but I probably won't crunch the numbers. Should Riot decide to pick up the design, the champ can be tuned and balanced afterwards.
Lore: Celeste is the last known survivor of the race of Aquilans. The Aquilans mastered bending space-time, placing value on intelligence and attempting populate the multiverse with intelligent beings. They often opened doors to different worlds on different dimensions, nudging along the process of evolution to create intelligent life. In one unfortunate accident, one Aquilan opened a door into the Void. Void creatures poured into their world, devouring all of Aquilan civilization before the gate could be closed. By sheer luck, Celeste managed to escape, opening a door into Runeterra before shutting the door behind her.
Celeste now has a new purpose, to make sure Void creatures never see the light again.
Passive – Stardust Augmentation: Allied skillshots that pass through a certain aura area around Celeste gain 10% bonus damage. This aura area is visible to both allies and enemies, as long as they have vision of Celeste.
Q – Stellar Chain: Celeste fires a skillshot that slows all enemies it comes in contact with by 40%. If Stellar Chain goes through the Dimensional Portal first, then it stuns the first champion hit, followed by 70% slows for all other champions hit.
W – Dimensional Portal: Celeste opens up a straight line warp gate, with portal openings at the two ends. (Sort of looks like a Rek’sai tunnel, but Celeste opens it at some distance in front of her in the direction she is facing) rather than going through it). Skillshots that go though one end of the portal instantly exit from the other side, at the angle they entered the portal from, with no loss in distance traveled. As such, skillshots can be extended beyond their initial length. Enemies in between the portals are not hit by the skillshots that go in. Levels in Dimensional Portal decrease the cooldown and increase the width of the gates.
Enemy skillshots also go through the dimensional portal as well, meaning if Celeste places the skill correctly, it can also be used to tunnel enemy skillshots past her and any allies next to her.
E – Aquilan Inspiration: Celeste throws out an AOE orb that boomerangs backwards to her. At the end of the path, or when Celeste reactivates the ability, the orb heals all allies in the AOE. The heal scales up for the total distance the orb travelled, which includes the distance inside the Dimensional Portal (twice if it goes through twice). If the ability hits an enemy before it is reactivated or returns, the enemy takes damage equal to half of the current heal amount. This continues for multiple enemies, down to a minimum amount. The total damage taken by the enemy from the skill is subtracted from the healing done once the skill is reactivated or reaches the end of its path.
R – Gravity Well: Celeste throws a gravity core at a target location. If there is a champion at that location, friend or foe, the champion will pick up the gravity core (think Zilean time bomb). The core will last for 2/2.5/3 seconds before disappearing. While the core is active without being attached, all skillshots will bend slightly towards the core, drawn in by its gravity. If the core is attached to an allied champion, all enemy skillshots will bend towards that ally. If the core is attached to an enemy champion, all allied skillshots will bend towards that enemy. When the core disappears, if it is on an allied target, the target is healed for a certain amount. If it is on an enemy target, the core deals a certain amount of damage.
Stores up to a maximum of two charges.
