["Old Lady" + Pet Concept] Poll before I write it up

So, I know that Champ Concepts don't actually go anywhere; Riot has a whole department for that. But I had a creative itch and I've been following the discussions about an "old lady" champion. I understand what Meddler is saying about it not being a solid concept by itself. I also like what Bio said about wanting to see a "good" Champion, rather than a more typical hag/witch/untrustworthy old granny.

I think I have a concept that might work well, satisfying not only Riot's needs, but also the Community's desires - not only for an Old Lady champion but to have a dedicated "Pet" Champion. I can do a full write up but before I spend that much time and energy into it I wanted to see if this resonated with anyone else.

General Theme / Fantasy

Placeholder names: Gaia & Willow. Because Riot loves cheesy names like that.

Thematically, general theme:

  • A "Watcher of the Woods", an old sage who has survived not through brute strength or even magical prowess, but rather by cunning and through a deep and mystical understanding of the natural magic of the Runeterra. She would rely on the "Wild magic" present within the Rift, drawing strength from the environment itself, and manipulating it to her will.
  • Sees herself as a protector, a guardian of sorts, not of other Champions but of the earth itself, including the magical creatures that inhabit it.
  • Spunky and sassy, yet elegant, inspired by the likes of Meryl Streep and LoK-era Toph Beifong (old lady hermit living in the woods) among others.

Mechanically:

  • AP-based, Jungle-focused Champion
  • Has a permanent "Pet" in the form of Willow, a Will-O-The-Wisp that follows her. Can be manually controlled by the player.
  • Spells can be cast from either Champ's location or via Willow. Casting through Willow may alter the shape of Skillshot (i.e., if Gaia casts it is a line, if Willow casts it is a small AoE circle)
  • Willow has a 'default' form where she cannot deal/take damage, but when Gaia kills a Large/Epic monster, it "manifests" and can deal/take damage. Idea would be Gaia can "refresh" this form via jungling, and when she comes out to gank she has a strong pet that can help gank. For example, Willow's basic attacks might passively slow, but deal little damage.
  • This gives her strong uptime/downtime windows of strength that is centered around and plays well to the Jungle theme, but still has proper counterplay (target Willow) and still ties strongly back to her theme/lore.

I can write up a full kit design but I wanted to see if this is the kind of direction you guys would want to go. If you have your own thoughts about how to properly put this Champion together, let me know below!

In particular: What elements do you think would be necessary for an AP Jungle Champion? (i.e., mobility, AoE damage for clearing, sustain, etc) What are most important?

Don't even make a new one. Just rework Yorick into a crazy cat lady. Two birds with one stone. http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=765578
