An idea for the eventual "support" changes.

In case no one has heard: "We don't have any immediate plans to try and rename it, long term though, once we've done more work on the gameplay possible from that position we'd like to try and find a more appealing name than 'support'. Something that still recognizes how important team interaction is, but that also doesn't imply a secondary, less empowered role." - Meddler

I for one am excited about this. So excited in fact that I would to present a solution to both the support role and a previous plan the riot said they would like to implement into the game.

What if supports got pets?

(warning: I haven't given full thought into the details yet so bear with me.) Bring a new summoner spell into the game that works similar to how smite does. Make is beneficial to supports in a way that wont get abused by other lanes. The summoner spell allows you to buy support items, ( maybe too?) and each support item gives a unique pet while also having base attributes. (Like how u get different smites with different items ) The interesting part is that you get to chose who pet sticks to throughout the game. Almost like how Kalista tags people. Throughout the game, the pet stays with them ( with some kinda cooldown between relocating) and gives them a very minute buff, until you level it up ( can also chose to keep it themselves). The support who commands the pet gets bonus experience, just enough to be even level with everyone else.

Each familiar gets upgraded once you buy the next tier support item. Maybe even wards on its own when upgraded to sightstone varients?

Frozen Owl ( spellthiefs) Lvl:1 -Bonus XP Lvl:2 -Bonus XP, Bonus Damage Lvl:3 -Bonus XP, Bonus Damage, Slows on next auto or ability

Crystal Snake ( ancient coin) Lvl:1 -Bonus XP Lvl:2 -Bonus XP, Bonus out of combat Movement Speed Lvl:3 -Bonus XP, Bonus out of combat Movement Speed, leaves a trail of sand that speeds allies?

Rock Turtle ( relic shield) Lvl:1 -Bonus XP Lvl:2 -Bonus XP, Damage Reduction Lvl:3 -Bonus XP, Damage Reduction, Grants a shield

These are just some ideas i had kicking around in my head. Feel free to expand on this or add other ideas.

Oh and I think that it should be renamed to something like "Reinforcement" "Provider" "Mainstay" ,something more appealing and respectable.
