Long after the shadow isle's terrible curse first wrought it's dark magic on the world, and long before bilge water was nothing more than a mere plan king the seas of valoran, Evelynn was living off the scraps of those who were fortunate, she honed her skills of theft to the point where she was nigh undetectable to all but the most perceptive, and this is how she was taken in by the order, and trained to fight off the evils that haunt runeterras inhabitants. Armed with a lone-wolf attitude, Evelynn dispatched these daemons and numerous creatures, which no words may aptly describe, with extreme efficiency and prejudice. Evelynn's s success eventually led her to rise through the ranks quickly, and indeed was the best of all to call on in times of great distress. She was taught of dispelling majiks, and learned to free the souls of those unfortunate to never pass on. Evelynn proved to be very adept at these incantations, and seemed to attract the hateful spirits of centuries past, but none knew why. She eventually learned of an ancient kingdom, and how it housed the souls of countless deceased, The Shadow Isles.
She studied day and night, praying to her deity for protection and insight for her journey, and when she had decided she was finally ready, she went to the great shores of demacia for rations and a vessel to carry her along, and set off on a journey she was not entirely sure upon. After only a fortnight, Evelynn watched as the sky turned black against the horizon, and saw the glowing spirits and specters floating above the water, drawn to her life, and she fought off the ghouls with ease, slowly approaching the curse of death, the tragedy of the ruined king's passion, and his inability to accept his queen's demise. She felt chills as she saw the isle's glorious ruins, and cried for the weeping will-o-wisps as they tried to lead her to her path, yet never did she follow. She constantly murmured spells, dispelling much of the soul-locking mist. As she was taught by her ancient times, to release this curse upon the land, she must first purify the caster's original malice, his furious desperation had to be quenched. As she reached the centre of the isles, her prayers lost their edge, and felt her body fade, just as all who have approached this place of dread experience instantly, she felt her mind slowly forget its self, and she set off again, sure that she was near the birth of a new age in the legacy of these isles.
As she came to a clearing, followed by the undead wishing for release, Evelynns horror as she saw how the kings aide, Kalista, was seemingly the least likely to be a shade of evil, judging from her proud demeanor. Yet this was immediately overshadowed by the demonic curse that bound the shadow of war's body to that of his steed, Hecarim and his colleagues of spectral Calvary approached her, stopping short of kalistas outstretched hand, muttering to the centaur in a tongue Evelynn could not understand. And understanding was evidently reached and kalista stepped aside, opening the clearings entrance for passage, and upon a corpse of royalty knelt the king of myth, his sobs of failure reaching across Runeterra in pools of his own sorrow, Known as the harrowing, this black mist ensnared all which it contacted, trapping them as a shade of their former self. But that was what all had heard, was what rumors turned to fact over the centuries. The truth of the matter was his absolutely final act, of striking one of the isles inhabitants with the blade which killed his queen, and enchanted with spells of fury and remorse. This blade , now stuck firmly in the soil, oozed its owners madness, and being absorbed by the seemingly parched earth. She had found the source of the Shadow Isles.
Her studies taught her of a powerful spell to dispel this evils source, and began to chant, her body trembling from the difficulty of this task, her task was near competion when she felt her soul and body finally loosen their grip to each other, and the spirits pounced on her now naked form, but were stopped when she instinctively took the blade from the soil, and loosing the hateful blessed from their curse of control, and the leader of their order, the one which the insane King had slain, reached from the soil, and screeched curses of ancient power so strong she was unable to even think before her soul was shackled to the isle. Yet the curse had an unforeseen benefit, Evelynns body instantly turned into a half-transformed spectre, increasing her ability to sink into the shadows significantly, yet her soul was always visible, seeping its powerful light through her now transparent skin. She sought a cover from this horror, and thrust the blade in the soil once more, and simultaneously bringing a true horror to existence, she fled the clearing with the ring of the queen, giving her ties to these isles of dread forevermore, and returned to her order, eager to share her new discovery. However, they shunned her new, soulless body, and exiled her to roam for eternity, forever in her garbs, a cloak of her own making, with clear signs of her commitment to the order, has given Evelynn the nickname, The Spectre of Valoran. She fights this curse's first wave of attack each harrowing, protecting her world from these abominations which she has proven so effective against, in hopes that one day another may brave these isles and help her revive it once more.
