Travelers returning from the Kumungu jungle often bring the same reports: branches that bend to pilfer their pockets, roots and vines that playfully trip their step, and the jubilant laugh of an ageless child echoing in the distance. Little is known about the entity named Vern, but most accept the theory that he was a lost boy who wandered into the jungle and never left, somehow absorbing magic from the place and nourishing an unquenchable and eternal adventurousness.

Autoattack: Melee (Range 125) - Vern whips a thin vine that seems to grow from his own body at his target.

Passive: One With the Wild Vern's familiarity with the wilderness allows him to spot secrets hidden to others. In natural terrain, Vern periodically (~30 sec.) reveals: • Crawlspaces that Vern can enter to travel through certain walls • Spiny branches Vern can fashion into a weapon that lasts for 7/9/11/13 (ranking with R) attacks, extending his range by 75 and causing his AA's to bleed their target for a small amount of magic damage over four seconds. • Healing balms that Vern can use to restore 8% of his maximum health • Nodes of natural energy that Vern can absorb to regain 10% of his maximum mana One of these will always be created somewhere near Vern each time he kills a large monster.

Q: Forest's Reach – 90 Mana, 11 second cooldown While close enough to terrain, Vern can grow a thick branch from it to a targeted location, damaging enemies it hits (including enemies on its path) for 70 / 95 / 125 / 160 / 200 (+75% AP) and stunning enemies where it strikes the ground for 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 / 1.8 / 2 seconds. It travels fairly slowly & shows its landing point to enemies, so the further it must travel, the easier it is to dodge.

W: Scan the Underbrush – 30 Mana, 20 / 17 / 14 / 11 / 8 second cooldown (starts after ability ends) An experienced tracker, Vern can find the footprints left behind by enemy champions within 30 seconds. While out of combat, Vern can activate this ability to focus on searching the underbrush for up to 10 seconds, revealing footprints within his sight radius to his team, gaining 20/30/40/50/60 movespeed for the duration of the ability if he finds any, and renewing the duration for each new set of tracks he finds. Vern sees different sets of footprints as different colors, and sees older footprints as more faded, but cannot directly discern which enemy left them unless he sees which color footprint each enemy makes. This effect ends if Vern enters combat.

E: **Playful Grasp **– 50/55/60/65/70 Mana, 16 / 14.5 / 13 / 11.5 / 10 second cooldown Vern animates vines in a target area that grasp at enemies for four seconds. Enemies inside the zone take 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+20% AP) magic damage per second and are slowed by 30/40/50/60/70%. If the zone intersects terrain, it deals double damage.

R: Wild Woods – 100 Mana, 130 / 110 / 90 second cooldown Active: Vern summons a forest around him, forming ten trees randomly distributed throughout the area around him. Trees that hit enemies knock them aside and deal 100 / 150 / 200 (+50% AP) magic damage. Vern then vanishes into the forest for up to 1 second, during which time he can select a tree to stealth inside, where he can remain until given a command or the until forest expires in 4 / 5.5 / 7 seconds. Trees, while too thin to block paths, cannot be moved onto and are considered terrain. Sheltered by the forest, Vern gains 20 / 35 / 50 bonus armor & magic resist while inside.

Nidalee: Starts Dancing

Vern: Come on mom not now!

Nidalee: But Vern...

Vern: What?

Nidalee: It's mating season

Vern: Ackk! Gross never say that again Mom!

Rengar: Watching in bush Soon, soon......

(I would imagine Nidalee being his adopted mother so they wouldn't get lonely and it would make sense as both are in tune with nature so why not stick with each other?)

Obviously needs some tweaks, but it seems really cool. I like the passive idea of random holes in walls. I think they should have done something like that with Lulu, given her a more mysterious-playful aspect.

This is an interesting concept and reminds me of Peter Pan with a more dryad feel. Like he has melded with the forest to become an immortal spirit of nature. While all of the abilities along with the passive seem pretty strong a lot of the damage numbers are tuned down to put more enfasis on his utility.

His passive reminds me of Bard's, spawning pickups but also granting him pseudo Rek'Sai like tunnels in the jungle placing him solidly in favor of a jungle type role. Getting an auto attack empowering pickup for a limited amount of AAs seems a bit odd though. If he can just choose to grow vines out of his body at will, what more use can picking up another branch give him? Seems redundant. Could flesh that out a little.

However his Q ability, even though restricted by terrain (which is still pretty abundant on the rift) has an aoe quality to it so it's 2 second stun at max rank seems a bit too strong, coupled with the low cooldown.

I also feel like his W ability, the tracking needs to be a little more fleshed out. You say he can differentiate different sets of footprints but can't tell which champion each set belongs to. How will this be displayed in game? Will the different sets of footprints have color variation? If so, will one color correspond with a certain champion and stay assigned to them the whole game? Or will the colors/variance change so that the Vern player cannot memorize colors to track down certain targets? Is it really such a bad thing for Vern to be able to tell which footprints belong to who?

Also I find the footprints lasting for 30 seconds is going to make the fading harder to distinguish. If we were to reduce the amount of time footsteps lingered, it would be easier and more accurate to read the fading and tell how long ago a champion has passed through an area.

His E sounds pretty legit but kind of overdone, being a standard slowing field, but i like the touch that you make it deal double damage if it connects with terrain.

His ultimate is a whole new beast as well. How far apart will the trees spawn from each other? Obviously since the trees would be classed as terrain they would also be capable of comboing with his E and Q respectively. The strealth hiding in the trees; how would that look? Would he be perched in the top of it? Would it be possible to give him the option to leap between trees? (Cancelling the stealth aspect of course). Another weird redundant thing is that he gets empowered with extra bonus armor and MR during the ult but he also is granted stealth? I remember they did away with Akali's steroid that was mixed with her stealth a short while ago giving her movement speed instead.

All in all I think you have a cool idea here and with a lot more fleshing out I believe Riot could really run with this.

Rito please!

You hooked me RIGHT THERE. I blew up that is one of the most innovative things its cool and it makes thematic sense, and its cool. I love it.

for unique-ness for E: Playful Grasp, how about Vern grows vines in a target area that lay in wait for four seconds. Enemies that walk by the area are pulled to the center and take 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+20% AP) magic damage per second and are slowed by 30/40/50/60/70%. If the zone intersects terrain, it deals double damage.

Seems legit

reminds me of bulbasaur just a little

so basically zyra as bulbasaur

it's a great and unique idea :) however I think different color for different footprints is not necessary. If you make the footprints to look the same (except for minion/monster, different size of footprint) it will be a possible counter. But to compensate it, you can buff this or other ability.

mogly meets bulbasur? awesome! refreshing mechanics to make his skills work with terrain. I just don't like the RNG on his passive, but it still is a nice idea, especially the mini reqsai tunnels.

I like this Idea a lot I like how he is able to be young and a free spirit and not be held back by things like walls it makes him an interesting character and also sounds like you would need a good amount of skill to play this champ
