Veigar Rework

I had a rework for Veigar that gave him a latch on his extreme power potential, but it wasn't an artificial one like mana. It envisioned him as a boss like you'd see in a danged Touhou game. I wanted to give Veigar counterplay, and to be honest, I maybe gave him too much.

But that's power budget, and when you make tradeoffs, you can give characters HUGE numbers.

Passive: Veigar gains 1 AP on unit kills and 3 for large monster, minions and champions kills. Veigar is manaless.

Q: Baleful Strike

Veigar shoots a projectile that pierces minions and explodes on the first champion hit.

MAGIC DAMAGE: 80/130/180/230/280 + (80% AP) RANGE: 800 COOLDOWN: 5/4.5/4/3.5/3

W: Dark Matter

Ater a .5 second delay, Veigar fires an enormous, slow moving orb that deals damage over time to units inside it. Veigar can cast the ability again to detonate the orb, dealing massive damage. The orb lasts 5 seconds.

MAGIC DAMAGE PER TICK: 30/60/90/120/150 + (25% AP) MAGIC DAMAGE ON DETONATION: 120/180/240/300/360 + (100% AP) RANGE: 1000 COOLDOWN: 10/9/8/7/6 ORB SIZE: 400/450/500/550/600

E: Event Horizon

After a .5 second delay, Veigar creates a cage. You know what it does. But the difference here is the ability is much more punishing to units who are trapped in it. If you walk into the cage walls, you'll be stunned for 3 seconds, and the cage itself now lasts 6 seconds. Veigar can use this ability to force the opponent into a vacuum where they have to dodge his abilities with limited space, which can be intense and terrifiying. Like a Touhou game. It may actually be worth it to take the stun and get the heck out of the cage before he uses his ultimate.

DURATION: 5 seconds STUN: 3 seconds COOLDOWN: 25/22/19/16/13 RANGE: 800 CAGE SIZE: 750

R:

Primordial Burst "Now, witness... REAL POWER!" Veigar roots himself and channels for 3 seconds, taking 75% less damage and becoming immune to CC. When Veigar finishes his channel, he deals extraordinary damage in a 700-unit area. Veigar can cancel the channel after 1 seconds to deal reduced damage. MAGIC DAMAGE: 950/1450/2500 + (400% AP) REDUCED MAGIC DAMAGE: 300/500/700 + (100% AP) RANGE: 800 COOLDOWN: 250/150/50

Now, before you get on me about that AP ratio, let me tell you that Katarina channels for 2.5 seconds and gets a 250% AP ratio out of her ult. Veigar channels for 4.5 seconds and only gets 400%. I punch that in my calculator and it tells me Veigar should be doing 450%.

Joking of course, but anyway, I wanted this kind of playstyle for Veigar since I got him, but other people thought it would make him underpowered. Well maybe it does against assassins, but he gains ridiculous teamfight and zone control potential, and his laning would still be scary.

EDIT: I changed his ultimate. I thought it would be powerful enough, but I think 5 man tower dives shouldn't work on Veigar. At all.

I could actually sort of see this working. It kind of feels wrong for a traditional Black Mage to be manaless though. Can you change his passive so that he gets 3 AP if he kills a champion or large monster?

I agree about the manaless thing, at the same time, I don't want to punish Veigar for trying to throw out abilities that are easily avoidable without proper setup or positioning. Think "Touhou".

Anyways, the reason I didn't add the extra AP for champion or large monster thing is because I buffed Veigar's waveclear massively. I figured people would think it was overtuned. He gets a lot more AP out of a minion wave as it is because it's not his Q that gives him AP anymore. It's a passive for every unit he takes out.

I can tentatively add the extra AP back in, though.

With this kit, his full potential burst is 3140 + 705%. This means 1 AP will give his full burst 7.05 more damage. It sounds OP, but for you to land his full burst, you would actually need them to stay inside your W for it's entire duration, requiring them to move slowly away from you, and THEN stand in his ultimate for it's entire channel time. The whole thing would take about ten seconds.
