Iniquien - One of Many
KIT
Innate: Spawn Iniquien stores an Egg every few (3?) minutes. The cooldown for storing a new Egg is reduced by 1 second every time Iniquien kills a minion with W, increased to 2 and 3 seconds for siege minions and champions respectively. Eggs appear as small spheres above Iniquien's portrait. When clicked, Iniquien will briefly root itself and lay an Egg where Iniquien is standing. After some time passes (1 minute?) the Egg will be ready to Hatch. If Iniquien is killed and an Egg is nearby and ready to Hatch, Iniquien can select the Egg to Respawn after a 2 second channel, this consumes the Egg and prevents that Egg from creating a Spawn during Pack Hunter. The Respawn distance is intended to be enough to reach the middle top bush in top lane if you were standing by your tower. Iniquien can only carry up to 3 Eggs at a time and starts with 1 Egg. While there is no limit to how many Eggs can be on the map at one time- they can't overlap in a fairly close area- similar to Shaco boxes. Eggs can be destroyed by attacking them 3 times and grant 15 gold.
Q: Marking Spit A short-ranged skillshot, Iniquien fires a burst of spit that hits one unit, dealing magic damage and causing it to take increased damage from Iniquien and half-increased damage from all Spawn over the next 2.5 seconds. Killing a unit affected by this ability restores 3% of Iniquien's max mana. Magic Damage: 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 (+50% AP) Damage Increase: 10/15/20/25/30% (+1 per 100 AP) Cooldown: 8 seconds Range: 500
W: Feeding Frenzy Iniquien enhances its next basic attack, becoming untargetable for 1.25 seconds as Iniquien deals magic damage to the target 3 times over said duration. During this time- Iniquien will move with the targeted enemy through movement, dashes, and blinks. Magic Damage per tick: 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 (+33.3% AP) Deals double damage to minions and monsters Cooldown: 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 seconds Range: Auto-attack modifier
E: Predator Lunge Iniquien makes a dash in the targeted direction, dealing magic damage to units it travels through. Marking Spit can be fired mid-dash. If a hit enemy is debuffed with Marking Spit, the cooldown is halved. Magic Damage: 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+35% AP) Cooldown: 13/13/12/12/11 Range: 400
R: Pack Hunter Passive- When near Spawn or Eggs, Iniquien gains 15/17.5/20% bonus movement speed, this bonus can stack up to 5 times and extends to the nearby Spawn as well. Increases Spawn damage per rank and how quickly eggs are gained, and minimum number of Spawn called without Eggs.
Active- Iniquien calls out to its Spawn in a global cry, causing all nearbyEggs ready to Hatch to do so and unleash the Spawn, which appear around Iniquien and remain for 10/15/20 seconds before vanishing from the map. They will attack enemy minions, pets, and champions in that order but will not attack structures or Jungle monsters. Jungle monsters will only be attacked if Iniquien attacks them first. The priority order for attacking will change if Iniquien uses Q to hit an enemy champion, said champion will then jump to top priority. Gained AP on-hit: 10/15/20% Minimum Spawn summoned without Eggs: 1/2/3 Egg Storage Reduction: 10/20/30% reduction Distance call can reach Eggs: 2000
Spawn Notes The Spawn have healthbars of their own and can be killed, preventing them from contributing to the next Pack Hunter. Spawn that aren't killed will reappear during the next Pack Hunter at full health. There is no limit to how many Spawn can exist for a Pack Hunter. Spawn do not scale with health or defenses purchased by Iniquien. Spawn have 150 health and gain 150 over 6 levels. So 6 = 150, 12 = 300, 18 = 450. Spawn do scale with AP and AD, they have less AD growth and scaling than Yorick's Ghouls but gain a portion of Iniquien's AP as bonus on-hit magic damage.
Explanation: Iniquien is intended to be a hit-and-run style of champion, relying on brief trades with an opponent to whittle them down before going for the kill. In addition, Iniquien carries the threat of out-of-control Spawning and, as such, Iniquien is a ticking time-bomb; steps must be taken to cripple it early or else the enemy may find themselves staring down an army of Spawn headed their way.
The Eggs are Iniquien's strength and also Iniquien's weakness, the range they can be used to manually Respawn is not large. An enemy Jungler who pays attention and invades might find easy prey in the form of the helpless Eggs. They can be assured safety by hiding them farther back but this sacrifices the likelihood of of Respawning and makes them harder to use for the ultimate. It's also dangerous to stick around in a lane with a recently slain Iniquien in it, a new Spawn could be hatching nearby for some bloody vengeance.
The Marking Spit ensures target selection, marking your target greatly opens up Iniquien's damage to the struck enemy, especially when a Swarm is formed. It ensures not one, but two jumps to get in position for some biting action. Time for dinner kids.
The Feeding Frenzy is Iniquien's bread and butter, though Iniquien might have a different idea of what foods it would use in such an analogy. It allows Iniquien to have a moment to rip and tear into the opponent, preventing them from fighting back as the agile little beast leaps onto them and bites several times. Last-hitting with this allows Iniquien to get more Eggs faster, forcing it to choose between more damage now on champions or more damage later since spamming it on minions will force a more passive lane while using it to fight champions will begat less Spawn.
Predator Lunge is a shorter-ranged dash with damage to dashed-through targets. Iniquien is agile enough to spit even in midair- enabling it to make some sick drive-by snipes. A marked target provides a shorter jump cooldown as Iniquien gets more excited about the impending food.
Pack Hunter is Iniquien's ultimate ability, it sounds out a hunting call and awakens the Spawn. They all appear close to Iniquien regardless of Egg distance (so long as they're in range) and form a hunting pack, granting increased movement speed and heading off as a unit to devour anything they can get their hands and teeth on. Since the Spawn are living creatures, they can be killed and prevented from returning for the next hunt, someone had better call pest control.
LORE
In the lost wilderness south of Noxus, known as the Voodoo lands, the petrified forest stands still; a monument to life's battle with time... or was it something else?
Groups of Noxian dissenters have fled through through the area before, seeking safety and refuge from the harsh discipline and rulings of strength that their overlords value. Walking through a land almost stripped of life and vibrancy, the quiet could cause a disconcerting mentality of being watched even in the sternest of minds. The rare shadow creature could be found but it was agreed by all that such beings were best left uncontested for land.
Exempting the rare case of one such creature deciding to make a camp its own territory.
One day, a straggler from a group headed deeper into the lands than any before him, determined that the region must hold something more than mere stone trees. Farther in he trudged, until he came upon the tallest tree, its height dwarfing even the grandest buildings Noxus had to offer. From the base of the trunk the man could see a shallow opening, small enough that he could fit through if he crawled.
Fearing the impending night, for he had traveled far, the man crept inside the monolithic spire. With a lit torch to guide his way, he squirmed inside, hoping there would be a hollow he could rest in. Eventually the passage opened up into a larger cavern, one a man could stand upright in without fear of bashing his head against the ceiling. In the torch's dim light- he observed what looked like a single orange egg sitting in the middle of the space. He walked forwards and examined the object with interest- wondering if a Shadow beast could be tamed if raised from birth?
His question developed an urgent need for an answer as the egg trembled at his approach, cracks appearing in it as a small head poked outside of the shell. The creature's head was small, perhaps so large as that of a cat or dog, but it had a distinct shape he had not come across before. The lower jaw was emphasized and the top of the head bore two small protrusions, almost like horns, it also had a mouth full of teeth even at birth.
Those teeth snapped at the man's hand when it drew near, the egg crumbling as the creature crawled free. It had a set of lanky limbs that spoke of tremendous growth potential, from either arm, leg, and even the tail- each was longer than the torso and head of the being they sprang from. The body of the thing was a shocking shade of bright blue- with a darker pattern of purple striping down its back. It wasn't until the eyes opened that the man felt a chill- they were blood-red orbs without iris or pupil- but he could still tell they were staring at him. All thought of taming the being vanished as it leaped towards his head. The man thrust his torch towards the creature, causing it to scream in high-pitched pain as it's face was burned. Despite his action, it still had managed to tear several chunks from his raised arm and it ran off with them, back down the passage the man had traveled previously.
Resolving to return and seek treatment, the man reluctantly crouched low and returned the way he'd come. With his new injury, his progress was slowed, what had taken minutes prior instead took over an hour. Several times the man imagined he saw glowing red eyes in the darkness but the creature never reappeared in front of him in the tunnel like he feared.
Finally, dirty, hurt, and tired, the man crawled clear of the tree. As he stood upright, a flash of movement caught his attention. A small creature, identical to the first, was crouched low near him, it jumped forwards to bite at his legs. Without the confinement of the tree-space restricting his movements, the man was free to move and kicked out, sending the small beast flying through the air. Pain erupted along his spine as he felt another squirming body strike him. The man dashed it from his body and beheld another spawned being. It hissed at him before retreating towards the nearby shadows, the shadows that were moving!
A larger creature emerged, stepping into the light and baring itself to the man's sight. It was grown. No longer was it the size of a housecat, but was something else. From snout to tail it was over 8 feet in length, the muscles practically ripping with energy as it stalked closer. The man's blood ran cold as he saw the thing's face- and the burns that marked one side. It was the last thing he ever saw as the monster let fly with a burst of spit, splashing the man and causing a burning pain as he felt half a dozen small bodies impact into his, biting and clawing him...
Later, a patrol from the main camp came across the site, they found signs of the struggle but of the man himself they found nothing, not even bones... but deep within the night, a new call could be heard, something ancient and terrible walked Runeterra once more.
After Iniquien's appearance in modern Runeterra, various factions reacted in different ways.
Void beings such as
have expressed 'agitation' at the sound of Iniquien's cry. The closest comparison appears to be 'hatred'.
The more learned denizens related to the Void
believe the Spawn are responsible for Icathia's ruined state and reference a great war between two great shadows, one dark as night and one red as blood.
says he's come across ancient writings that have references to the Spawn, along with the description, 'Iniquien', One of Many. The same writings mention a 'weapon to be used against they that would consume the world'- though it's unclear whether this refers to the Spawn as the weapon or the consumer.
says many things about the Spawn, but his wisdom is lost as communication falls short.
Interestingly enough, Gnar appears to be familiar with them as well, possessing crude drawings that resemble the Spawn, this signals that they were active during his time period at least.
also bears something of a grudge against the Spawn, "Not even the trees and plants will be preserved from the beasts!"
