Riot, Please Help Support Mains

Add shields and damage mitigated to the post-game stats please. Currently all it tracks is healing- which doesn't help when you're a support like Lulu that doesn't heal her allies. She shields her allies, grants bonus health, and gives movement speed and attack speed.

There's a few reasons Support is unpopular, the overall perception that they don't affect the game is one of them. Aside from KDA, there's virtually no way to figure out how much a Support 'helped', which furthers the perception that they don't really help.

The technology has to be in there, Ardent Censor and Stoneborn both track healing, Aegis tracks shields, please make this a feature in the future- just imagine all the Supports who can look at their stats and give a sigh of contentment for providing a clear number of what they accomplished.

Overwatch has personalized stats for pretty much every hero in the game..

Turret kills, People revived, Healing done...etc..

League is just pathetic at this. Not to mention the scores sometimes don't mean everything so they lose even more value.

Mains Support Thresh Can we have the post game stat of how many LANTERNS i THREW and how many of them my TEAM took?

Because i can just tell you, from personal experience, the ratio would be undefined since it would be a 100 over 0.

Have an upvote, and know I would take your lantern for you.

HeimerLmao2 votes

You know, I don't play adc often, but when I play with supp Thresh I always have problem with lantern's hitbox, it's pretty damn hard to click

Dolasaur9 votes

I don't always play ADC. But when I do, I use Flash to get on top of the lantern and then walk back to Thresh.

HeimerLmao1 votes

Ok, you won, take an upvote

Actually, in general, I think there should be a stat for how many times a spell was used in game and how many times it "landed"

AKA, how many times annie hit a target with her W, how many blitzcrank Qs hit opponents (that weren't minions) and how many times, in a maybe farfetched example, morgana's spellshield prevented a CC.

DemainaNyx1 votes

I played an ARAM as Zac where as we loaded in Thresh threw a lantern and no one took it, so I took it without buying items. The guy critiqued me for not buying items first but I told him I felt bad cause no one else took it so I didn't want him to feel bad.

I don't think shielding should have a spot. However, damage shielded would definitely be fair to add.

Speaking of shield supports, does Braum's Stand Behind Me (W) or Unbreakable (E) count as assists yet?

Lauchmelder12 votes

W should, E doesn't.

W gives your teammate stats iirc, so it should give you assists.

Fjork35 votes

Can confirm, W grants assists, only blocking things with E does not.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Actually it's his E that gives his ally stats.

Lauchmelder2 votes

No, E is the shield, which just gives himself bonus stats (damage reduction, 10% MS and gets ghosted) His W ("Stand Behind Me") grants the teammate he targeted (or minion for that matter) some extra armor and MR.

stand behind me does, since it gives armor and MR to the target. that means even if that's all you did, you get an assist.

I agree to this. Its just a stat that says, hey i helped us win this! Like sure you can feel good about it yourself, but being able to reflect on it later feels gratifying.

fireandiceyhot4 votes

I have personally been wanting something like this for a while now. Especially when you know in game that your shields made a difference.

Assists, as is Kills/Deaths /Assists. It's calculated like this:

(Kills +Assists) / Deaths

That was sarcasm It's like when a player goes 0/6 and ignores all your assists.

The A stands for the 3rd letter in grab Thresh As in grab the f***ing lantern or you're gonna die again.

Four month ago, they went with their experiment of an extended support free rotation, and dropped a blog post about how to make support more attractive.

Many insightful messages have been posted since. Sometimes really, really developped. This idea has, of course, already been proposed.

And we're still waiting for something - anything - to be done.

Would greatly prefer "damage blocked" stat to see for shielding champions. It would be amazing to see "life saved" for combat situations where you were healing/shielding over the course of combat, since the DPS people literally can't heal/shield you. Nice little glimmer effect would be nice too.

Aggressive supports get rewarded any time they snag the opponent so yeah.

As a player who frequently plays support/has played support in the past (but would not consider myself a support main), why do you base your self-worth with stats? If you win the game, awesome, who gives a fuck who has the best stats? If you lose the game, claiming "well, check out my xxx stat" is literally the most cancerous thing you could say/think, so just fucking don't.

AngelNipata4 votes

I can understand your sentiment because I've had teammates who literally chased kills all game and never grouped for objectives and then got really surprised when we lost the game despite them have 10 more kills than anyone else on the team. And I will agree with you, that it is cancerous as all hell when people look at end of the game stats rather than how they actually played. But, having some sort of "damage mitigated" stat would really help people keep track of things they should be doing.

Zaryelle2 votes

People already do that with 'damage dealt' so your point doesn't really make sense. I've never once heard people say that about healing, so it's unlikely they would do it with shielding or other similar stats. People already say 'well i lost but my team was shit', and those same people would be the ones flaming about stats, it's not going to magically change people that don't flame into flamers

It's nothing to do with self worth or who has the best stats, people who play games with high skill caps generally like to analyze their stats after and between games, not necessarily even comparing it to other people, but comparing it to your past games.

I can understand your sentiment because I've had teammates who literally chased kills all game and never grouped for objectives and then got really surprised when we lost the game despite them have 10 more kills than anyone else on the team.

These type of people already exist, they're not interested in teamwork at all. The people that are interested in working as a team aren't going to suddenly become stat chasers and ignore their team just because we have more information to analyze about our game. It can give you some good indicators of if you did well and what you can improve on.

You think stats (PURE NUMBERS) are the reason supports are unpopular? Lol, it is like assuming whole community is made of MMORPG players where the whole purpose of playing is to see fucking numbers of damage raise.

SociopathFriend7 votes

No? I said no such thing. I said there were a few reasons Supports are unpopular, followed by specifying one reason they're unpopular (the perception of them not having an effect on the game) and then I pointed out one reason this perception exists is the stat screen.

It's not THE reason they're unpopular, but it's by far one of the simplest problems to fix.

I shield soo much crap EVERY game, I get nothing for damage mitigated. it should count as a heal stat in regards to scores.

Finn Teh Human2 votes

Healing/Sheilding/Stunning should be on the end game stats. They could also have like how many times they've used their active items.

HonestlyAbby1 votes

The problem with that is it seems like it would be really hard to calculate the actual damage mitigated, which you would have to do for the number to be accurate. If you just calculate the health in shields given then the stat wouldn't be helpful since shields are useless unless they actually end up blocking damage.

Your examples of the "technology" being there aren't really useful since aegis just tells you how many aegis shields you've given out and the healing items are way easier to calculate since the only factor you need to take into account is overheal, and I don't know if the system even counts overheal at all.

if you shield someone and have the little check box marked in settings to see damage done and stuff you can see your ally get hit while shielded and see in white txt "-185" or w.e amount of damage was done to the shield, so it's not hard to calculate at all.

also there are 2 stats under Locket - total damaged mitigated and the one-time usage for the highest amount of damaged you shielded. so no it's not hard at all, it's completely do-able, either Riot hasn't thought about it or doesn't care.

Or they have thought about it and do care, and it simply isn't as high on their priority list as things like the practice tool, getting the new client to work on low spec machines, etc. Those help support mains too.

I have a feeling people would just use that stat to one-up each other in an E-peen measuring contest.

And don't give me that bs of "I just want to compare the amounts of shielding/healing I've done in between games."

You know there are too many variables for that to indicate anything significant.

DarkRitual9 votes

Damage mitigated is just as important to know as Damage Dealt. It lets you know if people are doing their jobs. DPS, Heals, Shields, Wards. All of them are displayed to let you know who was and wasn't performing certain tasks properly.

Your argument is completely invalid when we already get those other stats.

Troll for Trump1 votes

And we really shouldn't.

When do we use those stats for things besides E-peen measuring contests?

Not only are they inaccurate and misleading, they promote toxicity.

They are displayed to let you know that, but they aren't always accurate representations of how well someone is doing what, and are more often used for toxicity.

ChuShoe2 votes

So knowing how much shielding you're doing compared to someone else is going to promote toxicity? Why on earth would you brag about your shielding compared to someone elses?

It'd be really useful for someone like me who plays thresh, since a the really cool thing about thresh support is how much damage he can keep you from taking.

If you have a thing that measures damage done, you should be able to see how much damage you kept people (and structures) from taking, and compare them side by side.

Seriously though, if you're bragging about stats like damage shielded, you've reached the tyler1 level of pathetic/toxicity

Silverjust2 votes

and what is bad about that?

A little competition isn't unhealthy in a very competitive game.

Good! One upping each other is still gonna get the competition level higher, AND, increase support participation. Its win win

Troll for Trump1 votes

Unecessary competition is bad and promotes toxicity.

It won't increase support participation, it will create more toxic supports(they're already all passive-aggressive af), and get people to be more toxic against useless supports.

Not necessarily. Competition, and a certain level of friction, can get people to try harder then they would otherwise.

You are confusing competition with being a block head. Competition does not create toxicity. Toxicity breeds toxicity. When there is no clear consequence of toxicity, people will continually take it to higher and higher levels. Competitiveness is striving to take your skill higher and higher.

Troll for Trump1 votes

This only applies if there are no blockheads.

Unfortunatly, almost everyone is a blockhead.

You can't apply ideal situations.

If you did, communism would be great. But no, you have "blockheads" who abuse power or who wouldn't conform.
