Please DO NOT RUIN Maokai's skins!
Huge Maokai fan, he's probably been one of my top three played champs since I earned him, not long after his release, I even played him frequently before his recent gameplay tweaks when most players thought he sucked at everything and half didn't even know who he was.
Also a student designer, modeler, animator, concept artist, storboarder, and illustrator; so aesthetics mean a lot to me.
In lieu of all that, please take a hard and long look at how you've changed Maokais skins; I'm a bigger fan of Totemic, my favorite skin in the entire game in fact, but even I can see how Charred has also been changed for the worse. The base maokai skin is awesome, no complaints there.

Charred Needs to look 'charred' again, right now it just looks a fire themed 'skin' like so many others, red and heated in the tighter parts (crevices in the bark and between the limbs, the eyes and mouth) and less so in the more open facing parts. This reads as some kind of fiery tree, similar to how brand reads as a fiery human, which is completely different from the original skin.

Totemic Mother of crap what on earth happened here!? Is this supposed to be totemic or a new skin of Maokai cosplaying as The Joker? Somebody needs to do their research, totems appear in cultures all across the world, but are principally seperated as being among the pacific islands (tiki), south american (aztec), north american (most commonly known in the US.), and finally alaskan. The old maokai, with the white and black stripes outlining his figure was clearly based on alaskan designs. This new one was clearly referencing north america and pacific island designs while trying to retain some of the original; and it comes out not reading clearly as totemic in any culture. The mix basically looks like he's wearing harlequin makeup rather than painted as a totem. Additionally, what is with the branches? He's supposed to be totemic, carved by hand, man-made; why would he have MORE natural shapes than in any of his other skins?
Some suggestions: Going Native American style - Get rid of a lot of that white, you don't see that anywhere except on bald eagle totems, frame the eyes in black, not white, and the lips in red, add black motif to give the remainder of the face texture. Get rid of the pseudo beak and give him a muzzle, the sapling is already clearly a bird and totems never depict the same animal twice.
Going Alaskan Native style - Get rid of the red except very subtly around the mouth, bring back the black and white framing stripes, this typifies the alaskan native style. Change the green to a blue green.
Get rid of the branches either way.
Give me bit and I'll work up some example comps of what I mean.
