Champion Concept: Wa-Ya, the Wolfmaster
First off, I just wanna apologize for the lack of images and cool art concepts, I am an exceptionally poor visual artist. But, I am very creative and hopefully I can relay this idea through words in an interesting enough way you're not chanting "TL;DR" halfway through! ^_^ So, let's get started.
I am 1/16 Cherokee, and although I don't try to claim this, there are some subtle influences on this character concept. Namely, the Champion's name: "Wa-ya," which means, you guesed it, "Wolf" in Cherokee. I imagined this Champion to be a complex blend of both Shamanistic/spiritual attunement, with a mix of very violent/primal abilities. Think
or
. To explain the idea of what I want for this Champion, I wrote a sampler bio for him to explain the kind of background I want for him.
"Wa-Ya, as he is called in his tribe, has walked the line of balance his entire life. Always seeking to be more than just a Hunter, a simple slayer of beats, Wa-Ya knew he was different since he was a young boy. His father was a proud Hunter of the tribe, and named his son after the most terrifying Hunter of the wild: the Wolf. Hoping for his son to assume the mantle of the tribal Hunting pack leader, Wa-Ya's father tirelessly trained him in the arts of the hunt: Patience, Swiftness, Aggression, and Violence, with a means to an end. Wa-Ya's father hoped for him to learn these aspects of the hunt, in order to provide for the tribe and establish himself and earn honor for his family.
As was customary in the tribe, on the evening of the blood moon in their 18th year the aspiring Hunter was to be sent forth into the wild with nothing but a crude knife carved from stone and the clothes on their back when the crimson moon was highest in the sky, in order to prove their skill and fearlessness by bringing back meat and a pelt. Before his departure, Wa-Ya received his blessing from Inudu, the village Shaman. The Shaman smeared the ashes of Wa-Ya's grandfather upon his cheek, and his dark eyes gazed intently into his. Wa-Ya felt as if the Shaman saw his worries, his hopes.... his soul. The Shaman nodded and spoke to him, 'You are destined for great things. Much more than you know. Just remember, violence and aggression are good tools indeed. But wisdom and spiritual balance are worth more than a million pelts.'
As he pondered this, Wa-Ya ventured forth into the wild, the howls of wolves echoing all around him as the blood moon drenched the land in a bleak, scarlet light. As he ventured forth, he came to a clearing in the trees. Snarls, barking and howling slowly surrounded him as he stopped momentarily to catch his breath. As he clutched the primitive knife tightly, deep blue eyes pierced the darkness all around him and drew closer from the shadows. He was completely surrounded, a wolfpack of no fewer than 12 had him right where they wanted him. Then, they stopped and savored their kill as the leader of the pack came into the light and stood grimacingly before Wa-Ya. Wa-Ya was prepared to fight for his life; if he was to not survive his trial then he would gain honor in death. Wa-Ya stood his ground, and evenly met the gaze of the imposing wolf. They stared for what could have been minutes, hours... days. But as Wa-Ya tensed and prepared to meet his ancestors, the leader of the pack bowed his head and lay on the ground before him. Then, they approached him and encircled him, brushing against him, accepting Wa-Ya as one of their own. Wa-Ya felt as if the Great Ancestors were speaking to him, as if Mother Nature were channeling herself through him. So much power flowed into him, and yet not rage. It was a pure power; a power that came with understanding that it was not always necessary to use. Wa-Ya channeled nature itself, and became master of both the wolves and himself in every aspect. He had been chosen.
Back in the village, Inudu gazed skywayrd and smiled. 'Good, good.... This village has needed another Shaman for decades.'"
OKAY. Sorry if that bio wasn't the greatest, I wrote it at 3am and was borderline passing out xD. But anyways, here are some concept abilities I had written out for Wa-Ya, including his passive.
PASSIVE: Pack Hunter- Much like the wolf, Wa-Ya depends upon the allies beside him in order to take down the target of his aggression using teamwork and skill. For every ally within 20 units of Wa-Ya, his attack speed and movement speed increase by 1%/2%/4%/8% depending upon how many team members are within range. Once Wa-Ya leaves range of his allies, or if any allies leave range of Wa-Ya then the bonuses will adjust.
Q Ability- Furious Swipes: Wa-Ya channels the spirit of the wolf, and his hands are transformed into ghostly wolf claws. The Q procs 4 furious swipes, which increase in damage as they are hitting the enemy champion (they will be auto-attacks). No matter what enemy champion each proc'd auto attack hits, the auto attacks continue to increase in damage and the proc on the fourth hit will affect the champion hit by the auto. On the fourth auto attack, "Savage strike" will proc. Wa-Ya sinks his claws into the flesh of the enemy champion, immobilizing them for 0.5 seconds. If the enemy champion remains motionless for the duration, then no harmful effects will be suffered. But if they move away from Wa-Ya, it will cause a rend or "bleed" effect for 4 seconds that will grant Wa-Ya vision of the enemy champion due to the blood trail and the "predator senses" triggered by it. The bleed will do 3% of the enemy champion's health as a bleed over time effect. Note: Q will have 6 ranks.
W-Predatorial Senses
Passive- Ranking up "Predatorial senses" will increase the damage caused by the bleed effect triggered by the "Savage strike" proc'd by Wa-Ya's Furious Swipes. Bleed damage increased to 4% max health/6% max health/8% max health during the 4 second bleed.
Active- Activating predatorial senses will increase the visual range of Wa-Ya for 10 seconds, with the range increasing each rank up. Vision increased by units: 10/20/30.
E- Frenzied Assault- Wa-Ya gains 10% movement speed when chasing/moving towards an enemy champion, and 15% movement speed when chasing an enemy champion with the bleed effect from "Savage strike." If Wa-Ya catches an enemy with the bleed effect from "Savage strike," Wa-Ya will pin them to the ground for 2 seconds, immobilizing and causing a significant amount of damage.
R- Killzone- Wa-Ya briefly channels for 1.5 seconds, summoning spectral wolves surrounding a targeted location. After the channel is completed, the spectral wolves will converge inward towards the targeted location, slowing and damaging enemy champions within the circle and greatly damaging enemies near the center of the targeted area. Think of this as similar to a
or
ult but is converging towards the middle.
The ideal build for Wa-Ya would be attack damage/attack speed, mixed with some lifesteal for increased sustain. Also, a bit of tankiness wouldn't be a bad idea because I imagined him as a champion that would hard engage and stick to his targets, assaulting with frenzied auto attacks and the whole hunt/chase aspect to it.
Anyways, this is the scope of my idea so far. Feel free to comment, add any ideas, and I'm always open to criticism. But thanks for reading, hope you liked it!
