Give 10.000 IP each account.

I know it sounds weird when you read the title like that, but read this.

When you start the game, whether it's your first time ever, or you sixtynineth smurf, you have a really slow start. You have 0 champs and you can only play those FTP champs. The way you gain IP is extremely slow. On a smurf I'm level 11 now and I still haven't earned 6300 IP. This really blocks old and new players to buy the champs they would like to play. When you give like 10.000 IP when the account has reached level 3, the players know what's what mostly and they are not completely stuck to the 450 Ashe champs. 10.000 IP will allow players to buy around 3-4 champs, most people will buy one 6300 and spend the rest on what champs they like. You could also give like three champions to unlock, but every normal person will then buy three 6300 champions, what will result into 18.900 IP, which is way more that 10.000. But what about the people who are level 30 already? Well most of them already have a lot of champions so they get like a reduced IP bonus, something like 7.000. Welcome to F2P. They don't want you to have IP to buy things, because then what entices you to buy RP to skip all the grinding? They'd lose a lot of money with this, so it'll never happen.

giving players a bunch of IP would be a poor business move by riot. If you want more champions faster, buy RP or IP boosts. Or, play and win more games and earn them for free. This game isn't pay to win, it's pay for convenience and style.

Yeah, I'm playing on my smurf right now. It's level 24, and I literally only saved up for 7 champions. 4 of the 450 IPs, 2 of the 1350 IPs, and Jinx. There's 11,000 IP in 24 levels. It doesn't even have T3 runes. I can't even GET runes, because I at least need Caitlyn as my second ADC.

Why even bother giving new players to play complicated champions likeLeeSin Zed Yasuo , when they can't even carry as Garen ?

I'd say the slow start is totally worth it, as it gives the players more time to know each champion steadily as they grow, plus, champions at 450/1350/3150 is more of like a steady learning curve for them.

One f2p game had a model where each time you level up you earn some in game currency and its reduced with each promotion. ex. 10000 ip for lvl2, 9000 for lvl3, and so on to the 29 where you get like 1000 and another 10000 for 30, this encurage new players to stick to the game by alot.

true.

Or just don't smurf. That will keep old and new players apart.

if you look on ebay, people sell empty level 30 accounts that only goes up to 32K IP. Basically that's the exact amount of IP a person gets without buying anything.

It's horrible. The rune prices + rune page + champions to buy for rank isn't enough to justify a good League Of Legends experience. I actually don't mind the slow leveling because people should learn the game at a slow pace before they even touch rank but the IP you gain from win/losses is Taric outrageous.

I don't think we need to encourage smurfing...

Yes, there is a very high bar for entrance into this game. Gathering 16 champions for ranked, buying runes enough for one AD page and one AP page, these are things meant to slowly ease new players in. You really want to live in a world where some guy can just download the game and get right into the most competitive mode available? Heroes of the Storm is -------------------------------------->>> THAT WAY

So true, it's taken me forever to get 6300 champions. You know why they don't give you free IP? They want you to buy RP or IP boosts to buy champions, which is how they sustain this "Free To Play" game. This isn't something to be mad at, after all they wouldn't be able to generate enough income to run league. :D

Maybe, but not for champions, but for runes and rune pages. A while ago I spent like 25 000 or so in order to have 10 full rune pages (I already had 4 and it was the 2 at the price of one bundle), with decent runes in order to be able to play whatever role i need. That single-handily improved my winrate by 10% or so. So early bonuses should be focused on that, IMO.

every smurf account will cost them hundreds

Virgin Ray12/12/2015, 3:37:41 AM1 votes

What I'm concerned about is that smurf players who are godlike with lets say a Zed could easily buy him lvl 3 and shrek everyone and keep winning and winning.

I'd rather Riot just give all new accounts that reach level 10 a free champion of their choice. Not RP and not IP, just a champion of their choice.

this is an interesting idea but i think 10000 ip is a lot summoner 30
