Theorycrafting champ idea/heimer update

Hey all, was just thinking and wanted to throw some ideas out. Most of these are somewhat derived from heimerdinger, but i thought they would be interesting concepts anyway. This largely came from the idea "what if heimer only used turrets" Please let me know what you think. I won't be giving many numbers as they would be very difficult to even attempt to balance.

Assume base stats are similar to heimerdinger, as that's what this is based on, (ranged aa, low mobility, mage, etc, but a little bit tankier, not bruiser status, but a little more hp)

Champion: Brucey, The scrapyard master

MANALESS champ

Passive: One man's trash

  • Brucey does not use mana, instead he picks up scrap left behind from fights. His maximum scrap goes up with rank of his ult (20/30/60/100)
  • returning to fountain gives Brucey full scrap(possibly?)
  • Brucey's auto attacks do more damage the more scrap he has (POSSIBILITY) - picking up scrap while at full heals for 5 hp per scrap (not sure if this is healthy or not, but thought it might be cool) (Similar to thresh souls, scrap is left behind when minions/champs die, but also his own turrets effects and also is occationally spawned from destroyed towers. like zyra plants, enemies may walk over some drops to destroy the resource (only the large ones from towers/his own turrets) this means that melee enemies who manage to take down his towers can prevent him from just making new ones faster, while ranged enemies will have to manually walk over them)

(POSSIBILITY) passive: jury rigged:

  • every x turret (5?) brucey places instantly breaks down, refunding the scrap used to place it + a little more as he's learned from his mistake, but the ability goes on cooldown for 5 seconds (this is largely meant as a thematic point... he's literally using random battlefield scrap to make hextech cannons and blasters. but also gives some interesting interactions, as he gets more scrap than he paid for it, at the price of not being able to make one of those turrets for a short while. the scrap pile can also help with placing his E, but it can also be one of those 'oh shit' moments when he forgets about the countdown and a turret breaks on him in combat, but i didn't want it to be random, as that's little better than tripping in smash bros)

each turret costs 10 scrap + 5 per rank, totaling to 30 scrap at max rank max of 3 of the same turret out, but may have 4 turrets total

Q: Scrap Gatling Blaster (low base magic damage, bonus physical damage) (one time, when jinx wasn't looking, brucey 'borrowed' a few parts from her machine gun) -Places a medium range turret with a slow base attack speed, but builds in speed the longer it's shooting, and bonus damage from consecutive hits on the same target -also applies on hit effects

  • increases the attack speed of other nearby turrets -multiple gatling blaster's hitting a single target do less damage, but ramp up faster (this tower is built to help focus big targets down, or to be placed in the middle of a fight. as long as it's hitting something, the attack speed stays high, and if it stays on one target, it will do consecutively more damage) (prioritizes targets that brucey is auto attacking, or closest target)

W: scrap echo cannon (magic damage + more magic damage) (he built it out of scrounged rockets infused with luden's echo magic)

  • places a longer range, slow firing turret.
  • fires a hextech rocket (skillshot) that explodes in a small aoe when it reaches it's target location or the first enemy champion hit (smiliar to karma rq explosion, but about half the size) damaged champions are marked, for 3 seconds, if a second explosion hits a marked enemy, they echo damage to nearby enemies (basically if hit twice, he gets a proc like luden's echo)
  • two echo cannons can proc each other's mark, for less aoe damage
  • increases range of nearby turrets slightly (this turret fires at the FARTHEST enemy in range, but attacks can be body blocked, it has a fairly small firing cone, maybe only 15-25 degrees, if it does not have a valid target, it might be able to slowly turn to try and find another target) (this turret is meant to be the 'long ranged poke/harass' option, but it requires good positioning or lane pressure to make sure your enemies actually get hit by it. it's not meant to be a 'set this up somewhere and it does my job for me' kind of thing)

e: scrap gravity... doohicky? (magic damage) (made from viktor's gravity field prototypes he threw out)

  • places a short range turret with a moderate firing rate. (.8 attacks per second?) higher attack speed when recently placed
  • each attack slows a target by 5% (additive with each hit) and add a stack, at 5 stacks the target is grounded (can't dash/blink,etc)
  • if the target gets 10 stacks, the target is stunned for 1 second and they become immune to slows/additional stacks for 3 seconds (this turret prioritizes enemies attacking brucey or allies close to him, they will attempt to stick on one target to apply more slows, meaning tanks can take initial aggro and keep it as long as they are in range, they will also prioritize champions over minions)
  • multiple doohickies hitting a single target will apply slows with each hit, but only the first one to target the enemy will apply full stacks (i.e, if 3 hitting one target, first one is 1 stack, second two apply half a stack)
  • nearby turrets will converge on the doohicky's target in defense of Brucey or his team (this is a defensive/utility turret, meant to help peel for brucey and his team, but has a higher attack speed initially to help escape/peel) (this turret has a special property, like teemo shrooms, if placed ontop of another turret/pile of scrap, it will bounce off and land farther away, max of 3 bounces)

R: TIME FOR AN UPGRAAAADE!!!/SCRAPYARD AVALANCH

  • similar to heimer's old 'upgraaaade' this boosts all turrets to get bonus effects Q- turrets have their base attack speed halved, but apply % MAX hp damage (still ramp up) W- missiles shoot faster and have a secondary explosion (like karma q) that will apply a second mark, making it possible for 1 echo cannon to get the secondary explosion e- marked effects are now active in a small aoe, and instantly moves everyone marked up to the next stage( if someone is at 1 mark, it immediately puts them up to 5 and grounds everyone near them (short range, about sunfire size)

for 5 seconds, brucey can reactivate R on an enemy to override all his turrets programming and make them focus that target above all others until it gets out of range. if avalanch is activated, all towers affected will break down upon losing the target.

Passive: my own treasure While His ultimate is ready to cast, brucey's attacks gain a bonus effect based on the last type of turret he placed q - increases his attack speed and adds a small bit of bonus magic damage to consecutive hits on a single target (or maybe 2-3% current hp phys damage) w- increases his attack range e- brucey's attacks lower his target's movespeed by 50 (not cumulative) and, if he attacks an enemy marked by his e, he can add 1 stack every teir (he can add 1 to help get to 5, then another 1 to help get to 10) (the idea behind this is that he's using a weapon pilfered from one of his own turrets, but doesn't get full effectiveness. this gives him a bit of options with his auto attacks while still leaving most of the focus on the towers)

(assuming brucey is his own champion and definitly not a heimer clone) background: brucey doesn't remember much before he arrived at the junkyard, he probably had some tragic story that drove him to the streets, maybe he had no food and was forced to scrounge in the junkyard to survive... all he knows is... HE LOVES IT.

Nothing warms Brucey's heart more than gear's grinding, piston's firing, and stuff breaking down... because that means he's got more scrap to tinker with. Naturally gifted in his self proclaimed 'mechanical repurposing' of items, everything that enters the scrapyard is Brucey's to tinker,tweak, or otherwise reconfigure into something else, whether it be art... or barely functioning destruction.

He rarely leaves the scrapyard... though is occationally convinced to when he needs to 'repurpose' something shiney he saw that he doesn't have in his domain. A few have tried to challenge his position as king of the scrap hill... but no one has been able to contend with his abstract method of fighting... the very mountain itself being turned into weapons... scrap bombs, mines... and worst of all, the turrets.

No one is quite sure how he managed to get enough tech to make barely functional weapons from random discarded junk... or how he seems to be able to recreate any tech he's 'repurposed' before, even when he's only got used engine parts and a couple broken swords, but one thing is for sure, as long as you don't mind it potentially breaking down... Brucey can make almost anything

personality: i see him as something like a kinder Kled, Eccentric and estranged, he often names his turrets and speaks to them more than his team. he occationally yells directly at the player when 'his favorite' turret is destroyed (which could be any of them).

Placing a turret: (name) i haven't seen you in forever, i missed you what are you doing here (name) i coulda sworn i scrapped you tomorrow now sit... stay... good girl

Turret destroyed: (name) NOOO!! not you... anyone but you!! (name) you will be avenged... their homes will be your new body and you will live forever!!!... in my heart i'll make a new one out of your base

picking up scrap: OHHH SHINEY!! how did you know what i wanted for my chrismahanaquazibirthday? scrap... the fuel of the world... my world at least mmm... tastes like chicken

destroying a tower: YOU GET SOME SCRAP, AND YOU GET SOME SCRAP!! SCRAP FOR EVERYBODY!!! HALLELUYAH!! IT"S RAINING SCRAP!!! shh... it's ok, i'll put your remains to good use.. you can still shoot after death, i'll make it happen

dying: at least let me keep my scrap don't let me go to waste

approaching a tower: you know... you'd look a lot better in pieces wait... this thing always works? what's the fun in that? where's the steam supposed to come from? where's the engine? i'd love to repurpose you...

killing enemy champion: HEEERREEE"S BRUCEY!!! it's nothing personal, i just want your stuff ohhh... shiney screw the money, i want more scrap!

taunts: garen - demacia? what's that? the name of your personal scrap heap? jinx - those guns would be so much cooler if they could shoot themselves - meet my friends... of not varying sizes poppy - what do you mean i can't scrap the hammer? ekko - wow... how much scrap did you need for that? vi - hello scrapmomma... caitlyn - good equipment? precision? what's that? fiora - lets have a duel, just you... and me... and my FRIENDS!! camille - what happens when your legs break down? lux - are you broken? you squeal more than my turrets ezereal - map? what's that? orianna - marry me... scrap lady? viktor - an extra arm? that's all you could come up with? - metal isn't perfection... metal is FUN - i took that gravity thing and made it shoot.... which is much cooler heimerdinger - wait, why did you steal my idea??? (name) how could you betray me and work for him?? - mine are cooler - science? THIS IS SCRAP blitzcrank - ohhh... my own personal crane game - so tell me... how much scrap could i get from you? urgot - even i can't make that scrap work... - what the scrap are you supposed to be? kled - don't mind me... i'll just pick up after you're done

what do you guys think? it was mostly a 'what would happen if heimer only placed turrets' and this is what came of it, kinda surprised it got this big, but it was a lot of fun thinking of the character and theorycrafting. I've got a few other ideas that i wasn't sure if they'd work or not, such as

  • one of the turrets spending scrap to heal target ally (or tower???)
  • him eating/healing off of scrap if he can't carry anymore
  • his ult instead placing 1 turret with the effects of all 3 (this felt too much like heimer superturret)
  • had some ideas for 'merging' turrets, placing 2 ontop of each other to get a new tower or combined effects - q+w - long range, targeted tower, deals more damage, but doesn't ramp - q+e - turret no longer marks, but hits 3 targets (like hurricane) and slows all targets hit - w+e (long range projectile that slows (like the old frost queen active, the ground targeted explosion that slowed everyone) - combining towers would use 75% of the cost of both put together (i.e if 2 rank 5s, 30+30 = 60 so 45 scrap)
  • and another set of doubling up the tower effects - q+q - heavier damage, slower rate of fire, armor pen and bonus damage to towers - w+w - seige cannon, fires an arcing bolt of magic (like xerath r) that remains in the ground for a second before exploding - e+e - gravity gun(short range line attack), every hit pulls enemies towards the cannon, also has more hp than normal
  • support tower is invis when placed until it first fires
  • the ability for brucey to 'level up' his turrets by right clicking on them while in melee range, spend some scrap, heal/increase tower's hp and damage (like engineer or torbjorn in overwatch)
  • towers randomly exploding (see tripping statement on why this is bad)
  • the rigged tower exploding like ziggs satchel charge (causing knockback for Brucey and enemies), which is kinda cool idea, but the rigged tower is supposed to be a potential hazard, not an escape mechanic... though maybe this could still be useful in some way.
  • on kill/assist, brucey gets some scrap according to the enemie's bounty (aka free scrap if shutdown)
  • bonus scrap from mecha/robot skins/champs, except orianna
