Permanent Pet Champion?

Matt The Hero·4/4/2015, 5:19:41 AM·12 votes·3,195 views

I'd very much like to see a champion with a permanent pet. Don't have a fully-fleshed out kit, but a ranger of sorts commanding a dog/wolf/lion/dragon/dinosaur would be great. The pet would function similar to Azir's soldiers, auto-attacking for the champion. If out of range of the pet, the autoattack would be carried out by the champion herself.

The abilities would be similar to Ori, moving and attacking with the pet (and possibly something for positioning).

It'd be cool if the ult would have buff the pet, growing immensely in size (similar to Mega Gnar) and maybe having the champion ride on it.

I just would like to see the role of a pet champ filled.

If this drummed up some interest, I'd consider filling out an entire champion concept.

puppeteer champ?

I was thinking a champion that could tame a jungle monster would be cool (and depending on which they give a different buff) and it will respawn at base when backing if killed

I made a champion concept once about a Girl and her Poro companion. The Poro is like a dog and the concept is like a Hunter from WoW. The ultimate was Giant Poro Snax that made the Poro grow super large until it exploded.

I think you might take a fancy in this. Its one of my older concepts, but it basically does what you're asking about.

Sounds like Orianna if her ball actually did things instead of just be the focus of her skills

I would like to see them balance a character like this. Riot is unimaginative with their characters. But this might be by design.

"dog/wolf/lion/dragon/dinosaur"

Old urf buff granted protection from dinosaurs, didn't it? Seems like you want this champ to be bad IMO...

What happens if it gets killed? Does that make the champion useless, or can they resummon it immediately and make the effort of killing it useless (and let it tank towers for free, etc.)?

I've also been trying to come up with an idea for a kit like that, mine being centered around a rogue yordle commando that befriended a voidling in Kumungu.

so pokeyman with 4 abilites evolves with ult

I remember this old champion concept for this wolfrider who could mount and unmount the wolf but dmg would be done between both of them.

SwordsOfAether4/4/2015, 7:57:49 PM1 votes

I actually started a concept not too long ago, still trying to flesh it out a bit.

There hasn't really been released for a while, but I'm sure how mine would qualify against someone like Orianna, who's pet is in every move.

It's an awesome idea, but like several ideas similar to this that I've seen, there are several problems that make it something of an unwieldy champion in LoL. Problems that need to be dealt with are as such: How can the pet be counter played? Does it die and need to be re-summoned or at least be temporarly banished? What can the champion do while the pet is down in this case? Does the pet's stats mirror the champion's? If so, how can the pet be balanced to prevent the champion from wandering around close by while the pet gets to auto attack? Does the champion get to AA or does just the pet? Can the pet AA at all?

However, in that respect, I think I've got an idea that I might hash out myself...

My Widget & Bolt concept tackles these issues pretty well imo...

I think Orianna is as close as you're going to find to that. Unless you mean with an actual targetable pet, but in that case what do you do if they die?

Lulu Quinn Nunu Orianna Sejuani Ahem....

this ain't dota and it doesn't belong in league

it would basically be another udyr who is basically a dota champion in league which is why he's so broken

I thought about that too we need a pet tamer

You just made me care about this thread even less, good job. Maybe first learn to be nice before you comment. I havent used swear words in my first comment here at all and yet you all seem to relish at the first chance given to you to use them.

Dude, check out the champion concept boards, there are tons of concepts who are trying to implement the idea of a minion-mancer.

Right off the bat I can think of Minoss the Minion Boss whose kit is to buff minions, Verica the Revenant from the Stars with her perma stealthed dinosaur, Otto the Hextech Merchant etc, etc

There's also Malzahar and his voidlings, Annie and Tibbers, Heimerdinger and his turrets, Azir and his sand warriors,

The problem is to control several creatures without forcing the player to micromanage.

TripNichols4/4/2015, 7:01:32 AM1 votes

OOOMMMGMGGGGGG. I love this idea.

Like. A guy or girl with a pet dragon or something. It would be soooo cool. Especially since Riot has been creating champs that are a little harder to learn so that strategy really shines through.

ElJanitorFrank4/4/2015, 7:07:17 AM1 votes

There is the lone druid from DotA who has a permanent pet. To make it a bit more interesting, you should give the pet %chances to do something, it makes the Lone Druid's bear feel a lot more involved honestly. She has a certain percentage chance to root enemies.

Woodsy25754/4/2015, 1:42:31 PM1 votes

I hate the way Azir's soldiers work honestly, this pet should be able to move more like Tibbers
