League of Legends - Adventures

This may sound weird but I don't believe that League of Legends uses its lore as it should be. We see rivalries or easter eggs on skin splash arts, sure but I don't know how many knows the intricate lore and/or the relationships of the characters. This game mode aims to aid this.

It is a brand new map to accommodate a top-down adventure. It starts with a champion select and with it, you vote for a "story main" (if the votes are equal, the game randomly chooses one of you) character among you. You start with limited resources (as always) and make your way into the map through the fog of war; be it Bilgewater Docks or Shuriman Deserts, it'll be random. On your way, your team encounter minion mobs, greater mobs and 4-6 "waves" of champions. This encounters will get harder with each mob. Champions will talk briefly about your "story main" according to the lore and fight you. Champion encounters will feature 1-1-2-3-4-5 champions in order (if you start the adventure with 3 champs, you only fight 3 bots at most). At the end of the map, the third encounter happens and when you finish it, you'll get an ending for your story main.

Now to some details:

  1. The maps are brand new and do not have 3-way; it's linear.
  2. Game length is between 20-30 minutes.
  3. Mobs and champions drop gold for every member of the team, not just the killer.
  4. The shop is always open and mobile unless you're in battle.
  5. When you die, you can be revived when the battle is over or by one of the teammates during the battle (if they can get unharmed for a brief moment (5-6 seconds)). If the team gets a wipe, the team gets teleported back to a recent checkpoint and the mob that wiped you gets a health reset.
  6. You can vote to kick if a player is not "worth playing with" or just afk. A new player can join you mid-adventure. If you successfully voted to kick your story main, the new player will be the story main.
  7. Champion encounters will be semi-random; they'll be (in order) Tank-Fighter | +Marksman | +Assassin | +Mage | +Support. They'll also be stronger than your team and they'll have their own items from the start. They may have slightly lower cooldowns and better skill ratios.
  8. All gold from the mobs will be distributed equally. Gold items may be disabled.
  9. Story Main character is the one acts like a team leader while talking to the Champion Encounters. Also at the end of the map, you'll get a small cutscene involving this character. It does not do anything else besides these.

Thanks for reading.

Closest you're gonna get that looks like that is this:

And still under works mostly due to hard to come by volunteer work.

Quote: "I think the PVE is the most alluring thing; it's the first time a MOBA has had anything like this. You'll be able to take your characters and go into story missions. So for me like games like League of Legends, I like the characters a lot and I'm wondering "What happens when they are not in the arena?"."

This was my point when I posted this suggestion over a year ago in EUW boards. League of Legends misses that opportunity to flesh out entire stories within the game. Sure we get a LOT of lore in the new Universe section and within the characters themselves but it is never revealed to like 90% of the players.

With this mode, I'd like to change this. I believe with the right settings and right stories & characters, a single player/co-op experience will make League of Legends a lot more enticing to everyone; even to the players who hates MOBAs.

I still believe what I said more than a year ago and I want to prove it. You may even consider this thread/post my application as a Game Designer (I'm studying Game Design as a post-grad and I know I can make it, not just work, but beautiful too.) to work on a project like this within Riot Games.
