Quinn and Valor Update (Proposal)
Instead of 2 second channel, perhaps Quinn's ult can be like Elise's. An easy transformation with unique skills.
Currently Quinn's ult as described by Repertoir is,
" Tag Team's visuals have been changed from Quinn leaving the game space to Valor flying Quinn around beneath him. Tag Team now has a 2-second channel at its start, and no longer has combat spells or basic attacks. Tag Team now has no cooldown, and its Movement Speed bonus is now very dramatic. Skystrike has been retained, but deals less damage and does not deal increased damage based on targets' missing Health."
I was able to see some footage of this version of Quinn and to say I am saddened is an understatement.
It has potential, however. One trouble, of course, is the 2-second channel. And also the inability to attack or be attacked.
This would make her current ultimate, which is a huge instantaneous speed boost that can attack and be attacked with a nice burst at the end leagues better.
It also makes Master Yi's ultimate, which boosts his attack speed, move speed, and goes instantly as well way better too.
Given that Vayne can do 12% True damage (as a basic skill) and Graves has a shotgun (as a passive) and Kog'maw can get 5.0 Attack Speed (as a basic skill), I think a speed boost (as an ultimate) is lackluster.
However the model of Quinn being carried by Valor is workable; and Quinn can do a lot in Valor's hands.
I'd think first of all--particularly as other ADCs have their niches--that Quinn can at least have **no channeling time **on turning into Valor and her speedboost can gradually grow to its potential. What's more, if she could be silenced for 2 seconds instead of channeling for 2 seconds, it might have the desired effect (i.e. she is silenced for 2 seconds as Valor speeds up to max velocity). And if need be, a small cooldown (20 seconds) may make it unabused.
But I think the real potential is in what Quinn's abilities can be when Valor is carrying her.
In Quinn's biography, besides the statement, "The pair's unbreakable bond is deadly on the battlefield, leaving opponents blind and riddled with arrows long before they realize who they're fighting: not one, but two Demacian legends."
There's, "Quinn and Valor proved themselves on one critical mission, tracking down a Noxian assassin who had evaded an entire Demacian battalion."
The reference being Talon of course. Now whether Quinn can no longer blind, I'm rattled but I can live with that. However this new Quinn update couldn't catch Talon. For one, Talon can go invisible and for two Talon would burst her down and kill her.
If however when Quinn was carried by Valor she had CC and enhanced scouting and an ability to pick out enemies, then her Ultimate would fit more with her background and also have more utility in game than to 'switch lanes.'
Mobility is great, but it's not a niche. Not compared to 12% true damage, a shotgun or 5.0 attack speed.
If Quinn's q could make her enemies attack slower or lower their AD, that'd be great (to compensate for blind.) If Valor's q could shoot a linear skill shot through enemies that did vulnerable damage, that'd be great.
If Quinn's w can, say, make all nearby champions vulnerable, that'd be great. If Valor's w could make all nearby champions in a larger radius, that'd be great too.
I like Quinn's current e, but Valor's e could do the same old dash and slow and that'd be great too.
And if what's making Valor cost mana is a little damage from skystrike, then skystrike should be removed. Her ult, instead, should make nearby champions vulnerable (throughout her being Valor--after all that's how Valor and she found Talon and that's what Valor does all game.)
I think these changes would remove the blind, keep Quinn relevant, make her character match her background more and keep consistent with Quinn. I.e. she wouldn't blind, but she could still duel, be mobile and be viable as two champs, Quinn and Valor.
Thank you for reading.
