Why are the font changes in the writing space?

If you write enough of a post, soon your text when writing will be under Bold, Italics, Strikethrough, link attachment, quotes, unordered/ordered list, champion/summoner/item/sticker icon. It's annoying, I can't click between my text if I need to edit while writing without double paragraphing. It's not intuitive in the least.
